Throughout my life with a passion for automobiles, ever since I was about 2 years old, the first generation, 1975-1979, Cadillac Seville is among my absolute favorites. As a young teen of 13 years old when they arrived in dealership showrooms in late spring of 1974, I begged and pleaded with my father to trade in my mother's 1973 Cadillac Calais Coupe. To no avail. I am 63 years old and have owned 5 Cadillacs throughout my life. I am going to buy next either a 1975-1979 Seville or an 1989-1992 Allante'. Hope I find one! This car is gorgeous!

This generation of Seville was very handsome and way ahead of its time. It's a perfect glimpse into what GM B- and C-platform sedans would look like throughout the '80s.

7:56 The early version of the "GM Bong" seat belt chime. For 1979, you could say that it was ahead of its time. Way more soothing than those loud buzzers used in the 70's and 80's. I want one of these cars so bad. This is when Cadillac truly meant something.

Hey Greg, you are correct, 1979 was the peak of improvements and perfection with this car... I happen to own a '79 Seville, 2-owner with 38K miles. The OEM EFI system is collaboration of German Bosch components along with USA Bendix Corp for the ECU computer (dedicated) to the fuel/air system. One thing you got wrong, the injection system is not a TBI as you mentioned. The throttle body unit is for air intake only. Digital TBI injection started in 1980 with bustleback models. The EFI is, much like today's systems, in fact a Multi-port injection setup with 8 individual injectors with a regulator and fuel rail for delivery from the 2 fuel pumps. I have completely restored the EFI system, including all lines, hoes & pumps. did all the work myself :) and have 2 restored ECU computers for backup so I'll never need to convert to intake/carb setup.

@@Mark-VII I'm guessing since the Bendix controller on a more used model would not stand the test of time I've always wondered if aftermarket controllers would work with the factory Hardware. But I've only seen one that still had the fuel injection on it most of the ones I have come across had been swapped out to Quadrajet

Just for the record the wire wheels, standard on '78/'79 Seville Elegantes were made by Dunlop in England. They needed latex bands to cover the spoke nipples and of course needed inner-tubes. Stunning wheels, good ones today, worth a lot of money.

With that little of a mileage the fuel injection system might still work good often times those cars as they accumulated use they would pull out the stock fuel injection and replace it with a carburetor because the early fuel injection was a bit of a basketcase, although it was also the only 350 Oldsmobile V8 in any car that was sold to the public to have fuel injection. But yes for the Cadillac Seville they used the 350 Rocket, one of the most robust and dependable engines ever built by General Motors but also because they were already experiencing problems with the 8-6-4 system on the larger models. But since the Seville is built on a slightly modified X body platform, yes same as the Nova, it accommodated any number of Powertrain options and 350 Oldsmobile was just the smoothest running option and of course most of the Cadillac V8s were just a lot bigger and bulkier... Love how clean and original that one is though. But if the fuel injection system ever experiences trouble just get a performer 350 manifold and a Quadrajet Carburetor and you should be good to go. Putting together a 350 rocket to replace 307 in my 86 Caprice wagon which is likewise a direct drop in.

First gen Camaro platform. Nova came after, based on Camaro. I've seen the publicity film from 1979 showing the unibody and subframe, and that is a Camaro cowl assy. They did a great job adapting it for this car, and it shows. You wouldn't really know to look at it unless you were very familiar with a Camaro's underbody structure, and got a good look underneath the Seville, or if you knew just where to look under the hood. This example is a phenominally nice one. This is the kind of car you get and lock away in a climate controlled garage, and trailer it to shows like Hershey.

@@impahl7414 Because it does, pretty much. It's a partial frame that attaches beneath the cowl, and beneath the front seat, with four bolts. The rest of the car is unibody. The main differences between the Camaro/Nova/Seville subframes are most likely rail length forward of the front crossmember, to support the different length front bodywork of these models.

Is this a broker show trying to attract collectors and generate WOW factor or a realistic overview of the car and what you can expect for your dosh? Don't get me wrong I can see potential people wanting to part it out and make money fair dos but I always find videos like this abit too brief he tells us nothing about the sort of person who owned it or shows us any documentation or log books to back up what he's saying. Makes you wonder the legitimacy of what he's on about I think they should add some more detail about the car such as showing underneath and the documentation which woul really complete the show.
