These were built on the Chevrolet Nova platform but that is where ALL similarities ended. It used 8 shock absorbers and the rear leaf springs were teflon coated for a SMOOTH ride. Lincoln followed with the Versailles but, they never did sell as well as the Seville. Originally, this was supposed to be named LaSalle but, at the last minute, G.M. decided to go with Seville. It was more expensive than all other Cadillacs with the exception of the limousines. It was a GREAT car for Cadillac.

Very nice car... but not the Elegante version. I own a black/silver Elegante her in Switzerland and i am very proud of it. :-)

I love the fact that it has an olds 350 5.7 litre it also has a smog pump so it was able to meet California emissions standards at the time

"Elegante" trim as far as I recall, was black over silver two-tone with bright metal moulding splitting them. No vinyl top. That's the only combo. Interior was light gray leather.

The miles must be true 86K because the break padel and gas pabel as some wear but still have the groves in it if it had 186k on it it would be worn off and with 86k on it and still in new shape it was garage kelp. Paint bubbles in it is not a good sign its rusting from inside out thats a must to be fixed befor it all starts too fall off. Great looking Car

that is NOT a Seville Elegatne it is just a reg cookie cut seville ...tho it is vary clean and shows pride !

Very true the Sevilles platform was a Chevy 2 nova body the only thing that totally different is that it has a full perimeter frame like your intermediate G bodies the nova on the other hand was a uni body just like your f body Camaro and firebird/ trans am

The fuel injection that they had in the 70s were throttle body injection since they trouble and complications at the time some people converted them to a carburetor very rarely do u still find these older fuel injection cars any more

I was thinking about converting my 76 to carbureted but I was wondering if doing so would affect any of the electronics or ecm

Elegante' decor package available 1978 & 1979 of this generation and offered in one of two different two tone paint combinations neither of which has vinyl roof. Genuine wire wheels were standard along with center front console, special perforated leather upholstery and color matched bumper rub strips.

The Seville was built on the Chevrolet Nova frame. Everything else is different though.

A little Trivia....But i cant belive to date, these were Cadilacs best sellers?....Basically a Malibu with options..But...another company followed suit soon after with a fully optioned Granada.....Who were not so lucky...So Kudos to Cadilac.

actully the 76 to78 sevilles had nova chassis but a nice car anyway one of the better caddy

This is NOT an Elegante'

This was not the D'Elegance model as the D'Elegance model had the chrome going from the front to the rear along the top of the car's beltline. This car was NOT built on Chevrolet Malibu's frame but the Chevrolet Nova's frame. That is where ALL similarities ended though. The springs were teflon coated for a smooth ride. It was QUIET too. It was the most expensive Cadillac built that year except for the limousines. It was worth EVERY cent too.

Car has a 8 track player push the tape on the dial it slids right in

Had one of those here in germany, i am sad that i sold it....

But over all it's a mechanically sound car that stood the test of time they dont make them like they use to

Cadillac Seville elegante models were available through 1978 until 1988.

if this guy drove nothing but Cadillacs he certainly didn't pick up on Cadillac marketing Cadillac made certain if u were driving an Elegante u knew it inside and out the badging is everywhere. sort of insulting that he pretends he isn't certain if it or isn't an Elegante suffice it to say IT IS NOT and ELEGANTE
