    I even thought the Cimarron wasn't so bad after they upgraded to the 2.8 V6, quad headlamps & lower body cladding. What they also should've done was change the profile of that Cavvy roofline & perhaps conceal the Cavvy wiper cowl panel? Look at the 1979 Lincoln Versailles for example. When they redid some details that year, the car beared little resemblance to the Granada/Monarch & it represented Lincoln quite elegantly.

    Speaking as a veteran technician, whom has worked on too many of these to remember, they had their ups and downs. No doubt this is a low mileage creampuff, that was pampered, as many were when new. So, despite all the problems and headaches(especially from the Diesel powered models), I still love the styling and the ride. Seems to be a small niche that truly appreciates these, for what they are. hope to see more being cared for and shown at car shows. Black touring edition is the one for me. Hope this one eventually found a good home. JT

    These are really beautiful cars. I have a 1985 Eldorado Biarritz in canary yellow and a 1984 Seville which is the sister car to the eldorado. I've had it for the past 7 years since I was 15 years old and I love it! I always loved this generation Eldorado and waited for the right one to come. You really have to see and drive one to really appreciate it. The build quality and materials used are very very good and has that classic car feel. You can't really say that for many cars during the early 80's. It was either the Cadillac or the Lincoln that was your best quality car to buy then. I have never had a problem with it and runs perfect to this day. I NEVER get tired of driving this car and I plan on keeping it till the day I die! Very reliable and great fuel economy. I would only say that I wish it had more power. But thats how it was for many cars during that time. Overall, its a Great investment and a future Classic without a doubt!

    ***** Because it is the sister car to the Seville, as is the Buick Riviera and Olds Toronado for years 79-85. Both the Eldorado and Seville share many of the same components. The only main difference is the number of doors. It would be the same thing for the Lincoln Continental and Mark VII and Mark VIII during the 80s and 90s. Any of these cars are reliable with proper maintenance and care. And I do know all about the HTseries engines by Cadillac. Maybe the early 4100's had more of the problems but then were revised for the 1985 model year. It was ok for its day but not anymore to today's standards. Besides its not a car to drive everyday anymore. My car stays parked away inside a climatized building and I only take it out for nice days for a nice drive. But thanks for your interest.

    The early 80s Chrysler Imperial was a gorgeous car as well. I have one with the original fuel injection system and it runs perfectly. It is the Sinatra Edition and I get asked about selling it, but I just enjoy it too much. The stainless steel roof on the Eldorado was a nice feature and the turn signal indicators on the fenders I love. I also have a 76 New Yorker Brougham, 2 door, but that was from a slightly earlier era.

    You would say that until you hopped into an early 1980's V8 Mercedes that made 220hp, did 0-60 in under 9 seconds and topped out at 130+mph. Yeah a Benz might have cost an extra $10-15k over a Cadillac, but man it was such a superior car at that point in time vs the 130hp Cadillac cars that liked to blow their engines before the warranty expired.

    This Car was dubbed the Dream Machine. It was a Really sharp Looking & Driving car. Mine was just like this one except I had white leather interior & moon roof. Was also fully loaded. It had an innovative off centered mounted engine to balance the weight better which I found a nice feature, it was only the 4 liter aluminum engine that was fairly TAME but ran reasonably well. It also came with an optional Big V8 Diesel.. Very well designed, rode & handled well....Worthy of its name ."The Dream Machine" .

    I always felt like the 1982-1985 Cadillacs were beautifully made pieces of junk. Junk because of that HT4100 engine, it liked to self immolate and when it was running right it was totally gutless. But the styling, man that Eldorado is nice, love how it revives a lot of that knife edge styling of the original 1967 car. Loved the bustle back Seville and always thought the 80-84 Deville was the best looking Deville since 1970. Cadillac, once they shrunk everything in 1985-1986 to compact size, man did they lose me except for the still grand and big Fleetwood Brougham. You'd think Cadillac would learn a thing or two from history when they shrank all their cars in the late 00's/early 10's and saw their sales drop off a cliff once again. Anyways I could imagine the colorful character who drove this car in 1984. That white color just evokes old south formality, cigar chomping and sear sucker suits. Kind of seems like the car for a corrupt as hell good ole boy district attorney in some place like Greenville Alabama.

    That was one of the strangest FWD setups ever. Engine on the right, transmission on the left, a giant chain and two sprockets connecting them, with the differential next to the oil pan and one half-shaft going right through it. Ford patented the "unitized power package" in the 1950s and GM was hoping to use it for the "senior compact" F85, but GM chickened out on that when the public showed no interest on efficient designs, so the power train was massively enlarged to create the Toronado and Cadillac had a version the next year. 1985 was the last year of this layout for the Seville and Eldorado; the '86 had a transverse power train, like most cars these days.

They really made great prgress when the new 79 Eldorado came out and up to 1985 before the next downsized Eldorado and Seville came out. It wasn't until 1992 when the new Eldorado and Seville came out as big cars again and sales peaked at an all time high.

    The coolant supplement decal under the hood was a dealer campaign, not an original issue item. As the dealers treated cars with the brown "horse pellets", the decal went under the hood. That was to combat the problem of these cars having blown intake gaskets. The intake would blow, causing the coolant to mix with the engine oil, eventually poisoning the bottom end and finishing it off. The dissimilar metals being used was generally cited as the cause for this issue.

    @Justkevin3775 жыл бұрын

    Those are 1985 tires with smaller white wall, not 1984. There was a bigger white wall in 1984. Yes, the tires were from Goodyear. I agree the 350 Olds Rocket that came in the 1979 Cadillac Eldorado's were much better.

    Its nice but if you really want a great Eldorado time capsule, Matt Garret has lower mileage Eldos. And you would want a 79, 80 or 81 as the 79 was the first year of the newer style with 350 V8 and then 81 went with the 368 and despite what they said about it, it was a great engine. Just the computer issues on the 864 and that can be disconnected. I know of a local farmer who has a red 81 Eldo with a white top and a white interior all leather with just 16,000 miles and it is a genuine cream puff that beats all I have ever seen. So they are around hidden away. Lovely cars. Now the 4100 was a no power engine and really cost Cadillac. Thanks to Carters darn CAFE standards and them damn democrats at that time.

Okay? 😵 And as others have pointed out, the HT4100 engine was an unreliable dog of a wimpy 250 cubic inches that produced a miserable 135 hp when it wasn't in the garage having the intake manifold gasket replaced for the fourth time! Pretty to look at though. 😉

    Sheldon Holmes Yes I am a Caddy guy. I have several different Cadillac's at the moment years ranging from 1961 to 2005. And I have an 85 Eldorado Biarritz very much like this car here. This here was one of the best cars of the 80s era. The next Eldorado for 1986 was downsized drastically and not a big fan of them. The 1979-85 Eldorado is becoming a strong up and coming classic's. They are rare when comparing production numbers to the regular eldorado's but there are quite a few still around and up for sale.

    Factory limits on paint are within 1.5 to 2.5 mil of difference between panels. It's GM not Audi or Mercedes. Now if it was repainted or had repainted panels, the mil would start at 6.0 to 7.0 and change with 5.0 to 7.0 miles per panel.

    This car was obviously wrecked and repaired by someone that didn't know what they were doing. Look at the door/fender/hood gap at 2:36. Also, notice that the pinstripe wraps into the edge of the fender as only an amateur would do. There's no way this car left the factory that way.

I only wish it had more power. They only got better as the time went on increasing the power. I've never had any problems.
