Ordered some straws from Surfside Sips.
So many hurricane recipes. I haven’t had access to fassionola but it is Passionfruit forward so I’ve just used Passionfruit purée and add a touch of grenadine for color. I do a 50/50 mix of Appleton 12 and Pusser’s Gunpowder Proof. I find Smith & Cross to be kind of bitter but I can see how that might work in this.
Brings back so many memories- best Hurricanes in NOLA was at the Gazebo down by the French Market. Great episode.
This was a fun episode! I went to New Orleans for my sister's 30th bday, we tried many of their iconic drinks, including the Hurricane at Pat O'Briens. I want to try your version though with the BG Reynolds syrup. Sounds really good!
Thanks a bunch for this video...you've inspired me to try making hurricanes at home...ordered the fassionola from BG Reynolds and some of those awesome straws...Tiki On!!

The Kon Tigo Tiki Bar Tiki seriously 😂😵
Made this recipe last night. Very good. Remade it today, but in a blender with crushed ice and xanthan gum. That worked out so well!
Two year late here, but anyway: I made my own Fassionola. A little more fuss than other flavoured syrups, but completely manageable. I combine blueberries, diced mango, strawberries, pineapple juice, a couple of teaspoons of hibiscus syrup and cane sugar and let that sit overnight with a couple of stirrings once in a while. Then strain it and add passion fruit puré. Done. Works wonder in a Hurricane.

Matt Strickland it's crazy delicious. Tell BG that I sent ya!
Fassionola is an awesome ingredient. I really love the Cocktail & Sons but it is only available a couple times a year in small batches. The fassionola that is available these days from BGR, Cocktail & Sons, etc, is likely quite a bit better than that used in the 30s and 40s. That stuff was described as being very much like Hawaiian Punch flavor, super sweet and artificial. I mean, that also sounds delicious in a gross way, but this new stuff is even better and without the gross part.

Fat Tuesday ENDS Mardi Gras (pro tip: Mardi Gras is French for "fat Tuesday"). that said, the Universe likes you - otherwise, the 'antique mall/lamp" story would have had an unhappy ending. set your sights higher - Demand a proper Mai Tai. DEMAND a proper Daquiri. FYI - the 'tin' is a Boston Shaker. you ARE NOT a bartender, and I am NOT a guitarist - but you are a better 'mixer' and raconteur than I am a guitarist.
