The little details are incredible. I feel like the SoCal tiki community shares a special nostalgia; whether it be vintage bars, Palm Springs, or even Disney, we can appreciate and understand each other’s approach to the culture.

its almost sad looking back on pre 1960s America through this anthropological cocktail stuff. Even California was nice and full of white people.
I'd love to see an in depth tour of his tiki bar, like you did with the Breezeway. It looks amazing, it's also a reminder that my thoughts of converting my garage into a tiki bar would just label me as a fraud haha.
This is insane!! I use to have a photo of this bar, that I used as the desktop on my lap top. I never knew the who or where but loved it. Thanks for educating me Spike!!
Heeeey I've this tikibar photo as a wallpaper on my laptop for 10 years! Never knew where it was from.

That’s the bar of my dreams! Aloha from Belgium 🇧🇪
31:18 He's right, your comedic timing is a talent!
So Cool! Great episode. Home Tiki Bar goals forsure! Working on Spongebob must have had a weekly excuse for the staff to hang at a local tiki bars... y'know strictly for research hahaha
Here I am, discovering more videos I haven't seen :) Cocoanut Grove fun tie-in: for a few years about a decade ago, I ran a mid-century lounge night at one of our best punk/music dives here in Indy, the Melody Inn. We always had a live band... anything from swanky lounge, 60's tiki, NOLA jazz, etc, etc, and I also had a long playlist of mid-century stuff (crooners, tiki, jazz, big band) I played between sets. I was inspired to call the night "Cocoanut Grove" after seeing the movie The Aviator and reading up on the history of the Hollywood club. I wore a tux as MC. Great times :)
Hope you’re planning a part two. There’s so much more here I’d love to know and see. Great episode as always. You really know how to bring it!
My band has a tiki bar on stage and we have one of those ice buckets. We have NOTHING at all to do with Tiki, but the bartender sings backup and books all the shows. Haha.

OMG! Of coarse humble Alan does't brag about his career!!! Love the show! Great job Spike and Alan!!! Love the footage at the end of the bar too!!
Awesome as usual!
Great episode, thank you! The montage at the end was really neat.
Just…….amazing! I really like that the man is quite humble and it’s good to see people like him live out his dreams! Another banger of an episode Spike!
There was an "Aloha From Bikini Bottom" SpongeBob rug in the garage when I bought my house. It's still there today, always makes me smile
great video and that bar is the stuff my dreams are made of.

Also the lighting is perfect and I imagine that took a lot of time to balance correctly.
Great episode. What a fantastic home bar. I have so many questions I want to ask Allan (but he seems like a man who wants to conserve his words).

Haha... yes, a man of few words... But always well placed and intelligent words.
I like Tiki because when I was young my parents use to take us to a tiny little hole in the wall Tiki Restaurant that had Polynesian look and food menu, and I just thought it was so different, pirate like, special even though I was way too young to drink.. it reminds me of those times.
Would love to get a closer look at that menu. Definitely a project I need to take on
Who made the physical bar itself? That is gorgeous
Hale Kahiki!! 🔥 🗿🤙 “So Rad”- official slogan of Spike’s Breezeway Cocktail Hour..should be on the shirts...just sayin’ 🤷♂️😬

I just looked up the diver helmet ice bucket....they are not rare but they ARE expensive. Head's up (no pun intended)
Awesome idea. You should feature more home bars since we can’t actually go to many.

Thanks so much for my Zombie glasses and T shirt! They made it across the pond to the UK! Now I can drink my Zombies in the correct glass. What an amazing bar! Could Tiki Tony be an upcoming guest? Hope so .
