1930s Marx Light Up Military Rusty Truck Restoration
I purchased this 1930s Marx Light Up Military Army Truck October of 2020. It was in really rough shape but also was very cool! It had all of the holes to be a light up truck other than the grille. I decided to make this one into a working light up truck and remanufactured the switch handle and headlight contacts. I also was not a big fan of the wooden wheels, so I swapped them out for rubber ones and kept the wooden ones for later if I ever decide to put it back to original wheels. I really love how the color came out on this one! Also this was my very first time using a sewing machine and it went pretty well honestly. Thanks again for watching!

Welding and finishing of broken tabs is excellent. This impresses me every time! Sewing tips for next time: wash and pre-shrink your cotton duck, then iron. That's what happened to the original: it wasn't preshrunk, the truck got left out in the rain, and the cotton canvas cover shrunk. When you are sewing, the most important thing is the iron: keeping your fabric ironed gives you a better looking result. Love to see your beautiful vehicles, the wacky sheep, and Quality Control Kitty!
Not only did you restore it back to better than its original form ! But you went above and beyond by adding the headlights and the new rubber tires and made it better than when it was new ! you truly are a artist keep up the great work I love your videos👍🏼🤩
Maybe one day Chip can open a Toy Restoration Museum...

I should have known that sewing would be among your many talents and that there would be an official Chip Channel sewing machine to go with it! GREAT JOB on this one.as usual.

"I am not sewing. I am upholstering, which is one of the five original industrial arts."
When I saw this one, I was afraid it was more rust than truck at this point; but you proved me wrong! Every one of these restorations makes me happy: I love seeing once loved and now trashed things being brought back to life. What wonderful work you do!
It's interesting to wonder if the original assembler at the toy factory would have guessed that almost some 80 odd years later you would come along and restore this magnificent piece of history?
I love the way you bring an item To be restored by your tow truck, it's like it's going to be alright this guy is going to make you look like your old self so I am taking you to get made over. I am in my seventies an I really enjoy watching you. God Bless you my friend.

Glad he goes the extra mile to wet sand. Shows he’s a good artist! Great video, keep them up!
These are such great toys, especially considering that it was the Great Depression era. My 97 year old mom, as she says, "never had anything called a toy". They didn't have shoes in the summer, running water, or electricity... ...Very much, a rich kid's wonderful toy.

Impressive work! I like the kitty, too
Chip, lovely work EXCEPT that your new canvas top needs a dye job of OD green. The original was that color!

I would agree, also, military trucks don't have any "chrome" either.
This is one of the most legitimate restoration channnels I’ve seen. I love your videos chip!!
you did a great job restoring the military truck.
Selection of tools and the noises they make is particularly satisfying.
Now all you need is a nice display cabinet for them. Maybe consider doing a colab with another channel ? You restore something for them, they make a display station for you - win win for both of you.
I never get tired of watching these restoration videos. These always come out better than when they were brand new. You do such awesome work. I really like the look of this vehicle with a vintage military look and working headlight upgrade! I would love to have this in my collection excellent restoration work!
You probably get this in every video, but it's incredibly satisfying to watch the paint and rust disappear during sandblasting. It just makes my heart happy. :)

Congratulation chip Channel the Fábio and Rafael from Brazil. The best restauration. Long life the Channel.

Aujourd'hui vous nous faites une démonstration de couture ! Félicitations pour l'ensemble de vos réalisations.
Never seen any military trucks like this
Love the videos, but in this one- I was a little heartbroken you didn’t keep those gorgeous wooden tires! They were in good shape!
The sheep look happy. Really nice restoration.
You did an amazing job on this .Surprised me a bit when you got the sewing machine out ..Well done .My Dad encouraged me to do dressmaking after buying a sewing machine for Mum who never showed interest so he did odds and ends on it lol..My favourite part of all in the renovations is the Sandblasting .It’s amazing just a few minutes and time and rust has gone away...Love watching the transformations 🥰
I came across your channel just about a week ago and I love it. I love seeing the work you do, the end results, your cute little cat Beaker and The Sheep. I know they are cotton balls with googly eyes, but I Love the sheep! lol. (Especially when they get thrown or hurt and the 'I'm Ok!' pops up.)

Should the grille have been done in a matte finish, as the army painted over all chrome parts on vehicles?
Well, we can now add sewing to your list of impressive skill sets.👍
Those fingers near that lathe chuck give me the willies
I really appreciate these older toys. This one looks like a piece of handcrafted art. 💕♥️💕
This makes me happy bc my dad used to work for the navy
And he can even sew. A man of many talents.
Beautiful job, you take all details. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

The simplicity of this toy truck is why i sooo like it! Great headlights mod too.
Wonderful as always! Long live the Sheep! And the Cyclopeep!
I was looking forward to today's video. Thanks, Chip!!!! 🤗
I love the opening how the toy tow truck takes the soon to be restored piece away
I love watching powder baking.
Beautiful work, looks new! Thanks for share!
Chip this is a work of art!
Now....This one was fun to watch because you modified and replaced components and showed the process......great body color......WELL DONE
Pretty fancy truck to be military - the bed looks like an Australian Type 304 "Tray" Ute. Whatever, it's a cool little truck and your work is awesome.
Its fascinating to see how toys that were used to be made from a sheet of steel. My dad called them tin can toys.
Nice to see al that work on it. As new!☺
I love the towtruck part.
Pretty cool but it seems like there should have been a spacer for the wheels. Nothing stopping them from going together.

If you watch closely during disassembly there were crimps on the inboard of the original axels to keep the wheels in place... but not on the replacements. Which makes me wonder: why replace them? Chip does amazing work, and of course it’s up to him how he wants to do so, but he always seems to replace serviceable axels & other rods but never really explains why 🤔 If it’s strictly for cosmetic reasons, they could easily be plated & polished. Again, the projects always turn out outstanding, but i always scratch my head about the axels 🤨

Thanks soo much for watching! I need to show it next time, I actually glue the wheels to the axle shafts and then let the axles spin in the body holes to roll, this keeps the wheels in place while keeping the sleeks design.
@Juju0LM
2 жыл бұрын
@@Gappasaurus I believe these crimps must have been reset, but not recorded. Because the axles has no barrier to prevent the wheels from roll to the middle of the axles.
Fantastic restoration !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great job, I like the white canvas, it adds character to the truck. Thanks again for another Awesome restore. Thanks for sharing
Love the making of the contact cods, and the canvas. The military is proud and so am I!!!!! Great job!
IF you love the work you do...... You never work a day in your life! Such a great job bringing back toys from the past. When your imagination was limitless while playing.
I guess the old look had character
You did a great job on the tarp
Great work! Great video!😁😁🔧🔧 Amazing the way it turned out!🔧😁
I've been watching your channel for a while now and I have to say, that the sandblasting is very satisfying. Even more than the powder coating. Love your work.
C'est toujours agréable de voir un excellent travail réalisé, et un gros câlin à notre ami le chat qui suit ça de très prêt.
Probably the most stylish military vehicle I have ever seen, and happy to see your junkyard is always full
I love the Crispy Noise of Vehicles which you create while doing Restoration.. Carry on the Amazing Work
That was cool when u turn down the lights
Toys back then were so simple. Stamped metal and rubber
Modification and restoration...nice job.
Wow, for someone to use the sewing machine for the first time you did a relly relly good job.
That little Bugatti, at the end, with the cat. That collection is worth more than bitcoin. priceless
So far my favorite. Good job
That was awesome Chip. Thank You.
Fantastic Videos. I Love the playtoy from this time!
I have not watched very many of your videos yet but I love the way you completely restore things instead of just fixing them or modernizing them like a lot of people do with things. Many people alter or upgrade things instead of restoring them back to original, but then they call them restored when they are not. Update: After watching the rest of the video I realized that you also alter things, so I take back what I said about you doing perfect restorations! You do PARCIAL restorations with modifications! Also known as renovations.
Thank you for working on the wyandotte toys it My home town and pre preserved a little history from it
Hello mister beautiful restoration good job
Very nice! I believe that the addition of a U.S..Army's Star emblem on the roof and "U.S. ARMY" in stencil on the bedsides would have been great....
Great , happy for the next assignment .
Seriously cool modifications
Nice sewing skills your mother would be proud. Nice job with the powered head lights that could of gone bad real quick if your drill slipped. A+
This channel is great. It is so cute.Yay!!
That certainly was the appropriate tow truck to use!

Don't forget the tall boots ;)
Just a suggestion - for your pliers, instead of using tape wrapped around the jaws how about using rubber tool dip on them? It would coat them in a soft but durable coating to prevent causing damage and can easily be redone when it eventually wears out. Just a thought....
Very impressed you know how to show!
OUTSTANDING!!!
You never cease to amaze me, with the things that you build on the fly. You are truly talented.
Awesome restoration. Love your little helpers. Thanks for sharing and saving another toy.
toys from the thirty's were more complex than the 50's and 60's! lights, etc.
A resto-mod in the truest sense of the word.
It use to be all about the sandblasting, but then the sheep came... Gotta love them...
Amazing! Although I prefer when you do more faithful to the original toy restorations, I love how nice this this one ended.
You are amazing I played with that exact truck at my grandparents I loved going over there just to play with the old truck thanks for the memories
I'm glad that you got that sandblaster fixed now it really cranks
