1934 Kingsbury Chrysler Airflow Light Up Sedan Restoration

I purchased this 1934 Kingsbury Chrysler Airflow Light Up Sedan off eBay July of 2020. The wheels were ready to fall off this one, the wind up mechanism did not work, nor did the headlights and tail lights. It was missing the battery retainer otherwise was all there. This one fought me in numerous ways. When I stripped the old coating off the parts, the factory grille dissolved in a matter of seconds, evidently I should not have tried stripping the coating. I ordered a factory one for replacement when it comes in, however to make the video for this weekend I made a custom one just for now. The factory spring clip for the drive assembly snapped during reassembly and I had to improvise with a short spring and push clip. It worked well, however I was still saddened that It was not the correct parts, I will continue to look for a replacement clip to fix this correctly in the future. While reassembling, I missed installing the insulators under the light bulb contactors at first and had to remove and reinstall them after. Other than the slight mishaps, I am extremely thrilled with how this little car works. It drives well, and I love the clicking sound as you wind up the spring. The tail light is my favorite part of this hole car. Thank you for watching!

My son Lucas is 4 and we watch one of your videos every night at bedtime. He was laughing his butt off for a solid 10 minutes over the sheep getting sucked out of the car at the beginning. He gives you a literal thumbs up every time you tap the subscribe on the sand blaster. Thank you for these videos. He now wants to."rescue" toys from the garbage himself, lol From one of your littlest fans, "Hi! More sheeps please!"

Those sheep of yours crack me up and I like Beaker’s cameos at the end of every video. You do such a fantastic job on every restoration! My favorite parts are the sandblasting bit and when the paint powder in the baking process turns shiny. Those are ASMR for me.

As a Tatra V8 fan it was like finding ancient treasure, its a shame the Airflow wasn’t more popular because its radical styling, but it’s apparent children of the day appreciated it more…i think its because children always embrace and love new technology without fear.

Was so surprised that you managed to find replacement tyres. Wasn’t so keen on the grill situation. The original grill was brilliant. It’s a shame that the acid burned it up. Hope you can score a good replacement because the temporary grill has much to be desired. Also wasn’t too enthusiastic about gluing the tyres to the axel bar. There must be a more elegant way to secure them which is reversible? Although I cannot think of a more elegant solution off the top of my head, I am confident you’ll come up with one eventually Chip. Cheers!

Look at what happens when you let a flock of junkyard sheep go joyriding! Crashing into walls, runnin' each other over....Cyclops should've known better than to drive after having an eye procedure! LOL!! Interesting restoration, it being a wind-up car w/ 3 lights. I didn't put 2 + 2 together for some odd reasons that there was a lit-up taillight because I was trying to figure out what the mechanism on the bottom was for. Nice restoration!!

These toys seem cheaply made butI do admire their clever design. Kids must have had a lot of fun with these.

My Grandfather had a 1938 or 9 Plymouth. Can't remember the model but his only came with one tail light. Wonder when manufacturers started with double tail lights. But anyway....Great job!👍
