This was not only interesting but somehow relaxing. I have a Mira 1/18. Die cast 1950 Chev. I believe this is the same model. If so they offered a convertible or a coupe. The two color schemes were harvest gold with maroon roof on the coupe harvest gold on the convertible. They also had mint green with a dark green roof on the coupe and a mint green convertible both having that beige and red interior. Yours beats the factory versions any day. Good work.

it's all in the layering of the paint. black for dark red, silver for medium red...white for bright red.

The Americans are known for using stunning colors for their cars. Other countries with less imagination use black, silver or white mainly , it reflects the dull weather there.

I have a 1950 Chevrolet Styleline Deluxe, which is very similar to the Bel Air, and the accuracy of these is very cool

Your best so far .....

Very nice paint job (for a toy), you managed to control the paint without excessive orange peel and i saw only a couple of areas you could have insisted on smoothing out (just a couple of pits here and there). Bravo for priming with grey THEN wet sanding again. Some youtube channels just prime and leave all the ugly marks from the sanding hoping that the primer will cover them. But glossy finishes are like an Xray for defects, they show even the smaller ones! You went one step further and after sanding you primed again with silver paint which is very good on showing defects so you can correct them. I also liked that "liquid metal" product you used (good luck cleaning your airbrush after, these tiny metal pigments are a pain to completely remove from the airbrush!). Overall, very good restoration!

Excellent job on this model! This happens to be the 1st car my Dad bought when I was born. A great Chevy with almost as much room in the engine area as there was in the trunk. You did a great job restoring it to a masterpiece. I would love to have a real one in this same color.

Formidable, this is a beautiful restoration. The paint job is genius. After the primer layer, you apply a silver layer and then the red layer which works great. Then you finish it with a clear topcoat, brilliant. Result: a shiny and brilliant red lacquer layer. One thing I do regret, why did you leave the interior as it was? I don't think it matches the red on the outside at all. Other than that, I think you've done a wonderful piece of work.

That is a lot of parts! I love The color. Another amazing restoration. One respectful criticism is not doing a thorough inspection of the body shell and rear fender surfaces before prime paint to infill the few pits/indentations that marred the final finish; and also a light rub out of the clear coat and reapplication for a less orange peel final result. Still, I could not have done as fine a job as you have.
