    Do you place the front of your towers flush with the front of the wall? How far behind the screen are the speakers once in position?

    I’m in the process of planning a similar set up to what you were doing three years ago when you made this video. It’s amazing how similar my thought process is to yours. Just like you, I would like to recess the speakers back into the wall as much as possible. I also have drywall which I assume has insulation behind it, followed by cinderblocks. Do you have any advice on how to do this? Do you have any photographs that show your process for creating the recessed areas into which your speakers are placed? I’d really like to learn as much as possible about this. Thanks so much for posting these videos I love watching them. Ben

    went back and grabbed some pictures from that project. just had to carve through the drywall to pick up that half inch, and 3.5" from the depth of the 2x4 wall, back to the foam. left the 2" xps foam so there's still insulation & vapor barrier behind the speakers. moved the wiring/boxes, framed the cavities, painted, placed speakers, filled with insulation, and then went through numerous different screen configurations haha. right now running full wall 160" (16:9) with 2.39 black velvet masking. can't go any larger with either AR without buying a different house. here is the album, hope it's of help! imgur.com/a/p9X3zIl

    Did building on top of the carpet create any issues? I have a fully finished "play room" that my kids are now wanting to turn into a theater/game room and I want to build a screen wall but not tear out the carpeting (until it becomes a pure dedicated theater down the road). Any special wood to keep from messing up the carpet?

  • @aaromon43

    @aaromon43

    we laid the wood right across the carpet and anchored into the walls & ceiling. no harm to the carpet & very secure!

    Wow that looks great i have the same idea in mind but i couldn't find any info on how tower speakers would sound in a baffled wall any clue?...What's the measurement of the room? Thanks

    Guy Severe i know, there is very limited information out there on how to do this kind of setup. lots of pictures of finished setups but very little in the way of helping you do it. i've been listening to the speakers as i work on the room and i can't tell any difference from how they sounded before (free standing), to now being in the wall surrounded by insulation. room is 12x21x7'

    I building a faux wall as well. How far did you drill the bottom into the floor? Thanks again.

  • @aaromon43

    @aaromon43

    6 жыл бұрын

    Percy Bedford if i had built the faux-wall prior to laying down carpeting, i would have anchored it into the floor. however, if i ever sell the house i didn't want to leave holes in the ~$2k carpeting i had put in. instead we used molly bolts into the wall & ceiling, and then there are a few 2x4 sleepers that the faux-wall sill plate are attached to, which is attached to the real 2x4 sill plate framing in the original wall. for what it's worth, when i framed the original walls, i used 3" masonry nails with a gun-powder nailer gun (to drive the nails in deep & effortlessly). hope that helps, and good luck with your build!

  • @aaromon43

    Droidz Hunterz thanks! was considering using roxul (rockwool) but it tends to be rather messy. went with standard ownes corning fiberglass in the 2x3 cavities and around the speakers to help reduce any reflections or reverb.

  • @aaromon43

    @aaromon43

    6 жыл бұрын

    Jacob Garcia i ended up just using owens corning fiberglass. my first thought was roxul too (that's what i used between the 2" xps foam & the drywall room framing) but i know how messy & gritty it is and i didn't want the stuff littering or floating in the air. the spun fiberglass should stay in place. and thanks! glad to be of some inspiration haha. i document all of my house progress but decided to share my home theater on youtube just for fun.

    How you planning on getting to your speakers once the Wall is complete ?

  • @aaromon43

    @aaromon43

    6 жыл бұрын

    Rodney Wright i'll be able to take down the screen and you will have access that way. i don't plan on changing the speakers, and i will still be able to swap a driver or tweeter if it became damaged somehow (very unlikely).
