14 year old recurve archer beat four X Olympian archers

Спорт

In this video I discuss a local 14 year old archer in South Australia who just shot U14, U16 ,U18 and U21 State record. James Azli shot an Indoor score of 292 out of 300 at 18 meters on a 40cm face.
I discuss the commitment and dedication James puts in and his vision to be the best archer. I discuss elements around James which assist in fueling James to improve.
In my 40+ years in the sport of archery James improvement and level of achievement is one of the best I have had the plessure to watch.

Nice one, Steven. Yes, James is yet another up & coming dedicated recurver in my Adelaide Archery club, & is progressing rapidly. He shoots 34#, so proof you don't need to be obsessive about pushing up your poundage. Don't overlook his sister Lily, either, who is a compound archer & also achieving well. Such lovely kids too, which is a huge bonus. 👍

Great shooting! Had a quick google and Simon shot a 587 at the 1999 World Indoors, so presumably 294ish. Dave had a 298 indoor in 2019.

Great motivational video. Had my own health issues and just this week started to look at shooting again after a long break. This video has me motivated to sort myself out. Thank you

I really hope he continues to develop, it'd be great to have another Simon Fairweather at the next few Olympics. If he stays on the right trajectory (no pun intended) I'd be happy to help him financially to some extent. Keep us up to date Steve. Cheers.

How many hours per day does the young man shoot?. When I was competing in college in the early 70’s. I practiced 4-6 hours a day. My scores were personal bests. However when I competed against John Williams at the Eastern Archery championship in 1970 , I did not come within 50 points of him. Williams won the gold medal in 1972. I hope this young man can reach the Olympic standard. This standard is incredibly high. Check out Gazos’ shooting at the World archery tour in April in Antalya turkey. He is my favorite to repeat as Olympic champion. Best of luck to the young Australian!

292 is very good. My best last season was 283, which is a long way off.

Does James have a coach? If not why not. What happened to Taylor Worth?

I've shot next to this female archer who shoots at 70 meters & I shoot trad at 30 meters for first time and it's true you do shoot better next to a better archer. And I just brought another bow , a Ash War bow from boston bows in UK. I did say to myself 3 bows are enough now I have four lol, I do like bows from great plains bows and I like bows from harvey archery, so I will properly buy more bows later on and end up with six.

Whilst your improving your fitness etc. Offer to set James's bow up for him, should be worth a few points towards catching him up. 😂 Congratulations to all involved.

Good to see young people doing positive things. Don’t understand the emphasis you put on strength when the young man’s arm are the size of a toothpick and he is out shooting you 😂

Tom Lund here. You can practice all you want but if your practicing bad technique it’s hours wasted. You need to get a coach to make sure your technique is sound.

You want to get better you forgot the most important element to improvement : a coach! You truly need one . I can see basic flaws in your technique. Your bow doesn’t jump out of your hand because you don’t relax your hand and don’t use a sling . You need to push more . Check out Sjef Van den Bergs technique week on bow jumping as well as coach Kim’s videos on bow jumping.. shooting more doesn’t mean your going to get better unless your practicing perfectly. GET A COACH!

The only way I could ever win this game is to eat as many chips as possible then go swimming across the Sagharian ocean with only one leg
