Food for nerve pain: food rich in omega 3 fatty acids( fish-salmon,tuna, mackerel,herring, -fish oil), fruits (berries), grains(brown rice) nuts (walnuts,almonds,brussel,peanuts), beans( black, pinto, lama),meat( chicken,turkey), veggies(brocolli,spinach,kale,potatoes etc) Food to avoid: alcohol, sodium, food high in sugar( candies, juice,cakes etc), unhealthy fats, caffeine( aggravate nerve pain) . Broccoli, spinach and asparagus all contain vitamin B, a nutrient important for nerve regeneration and nerve function. Spinach, broccoli and kale also contain a micronutrient called alpha-lipoic acid that prevents nerve damage and improves nerve function.
Down-to-earth advice without unnecessary hype. Many thanks.
I was on oxycodone for the last 10 years. I've tried everything from vegan to low carb. I finally went full carnivore two years ago and lost 50lbs and was able to cut down 90% on pain meds in the first 6 months. I went back to low carb and gained 40lbs and all pain returned. Going back to the Lion diet. Telling people to eat grains when they have nerve pain is crazy to me. I get an immediate pain response within 5 min of eating any grains.

Hi. I experience pain after eating or drinking , even after I take my medicine. I thought it was in my head. I have some pretty extensive nerve damage, lower back, and lower legs and feet. Also I have some paralysis in the upper thigh and pelvis . Im in constant pain and experience muscle spasms as well . Having no feeling but pain is crazy 🙃

I've had a neurological issue for years and have had everything under control until this pandemic and everything that went with it. I have been suffering a lot, and do eat the foods that you recommended but maybe I don't have enough in my diet. Your explanations are wonderful! You have explained some of the pains I have. I didn't know it was nerve pain. Adding these foods should definitely, I pray, improve and decrease my pain. I have fibromyalgia and anything that can reduce my pain naturally is great. Thank you. So glad I found you.

Good morning. Thank you Dr. Furlan. I downloaded the handout. Not enough beans in this House so will try to incorporate more. We eat so much chicken and turkey and fish we have feathers under our arms and we are sprouting fish gills too! Have started cutbacks on coffee to once daily, sworn off of salt. Giving up Splenda and Sugar will be most difficult.

Hi Doc, i was so happy to come across your channel. I suffer from Trigeminal Neuralgia and have been on tegretol for almost ten years. Now i take tegretol and Gabapentin which is destroying my life completely due to how they make me sleep and forget things. i will definitely make effort to eat the way that will help. I loved chocolate so much and had to stop because it triggers the pain. Thank you so much. I wish you could say more on this disease.

I appreciate what your advise, this is my personal experience over the past 8 years and its PEESONAL. If i est any grain whether whole or not, i have severe flare ups, fruits that have a lot of sugar, Milk, whether whole or mon fat, all these foods severely affect my sciatic pain negatively i avoid these foods like the plague, i use meat fish eggs and good oils, butter and veggies. Pain free no flare ups. I have tested this many times over eight years. I learned thst carbs sre converted to sugar in the gut. Personally my experience ❤

Thanks Dr. I have lumbar and cervical spondylosis, in the last two weeks my pain gets worse. I hardly could move my limbs. I will change my diet, I pray it works.

Great video! Thank you for ge explanations of what to include and avoid. Include: Omega 3 - cold water fish (tuna, salman,mackerel), Chia or flax seeds, or supplements Berries and grapes Whole grains - oats, brown rice, etc Nuts- walnuts, cashews, hazelnuts, etc Beans/legumes Meat - preference to lean meats e.g. chicken Vegetables Avoid: Alcohol Sodium: limit to --- High in sugar foods Unhealthy fates e.g. fries things Too much caffeine
