127-Year-Old Italian Bakery Makes The Best Struffoli In NYC | Legendary Eats

Ferrara, a 127-year-old bakery, is a Little Italy destination and one of the last surviving pastry shops in the neighborhood. It’s famous for pastries such as cannoli, tri-color cookies, and tiramisu. But around November and December, its most coveted dessert turns to struffoli, a Neapolitan holiday dessert. Insider’s Taryn Varricchio headed to Ferrara to learn why customers choose this shop’s struffoli over other Italian pastry shops in the city.

Nothing makes me happier than seeing 100 year old restaurants and bakeries still thriving to this day. It's like a piece of history still living with us to see. 😀

Lol I never judge food based on appearance. I mean.. If it still looks edible, then it's okay with me. Chickpeas with sugar syrup? It's okay for me. But I need to eat that first to judge the taste. Another example of weird thing is.. instant fried noodle with condensed milk. It seems weird, right? But it turn out to be good when I eat it.

I love to see tradition carried on and the passing on of recipes, that being said literally the word "Stuffoli" (struffolo singilar) refers to 'little pieces of FRIED dough...' in other words boys and girls if it isn't fried it isn't struffoli... "A" for effort however but these things are 'Sfoglia' or actually 'Sfoglicci', tiny puffed pastry translated...
