A guide to *authentic* ITALIAN BREAKFAST

Фильм және анимация

Discalimer: this video is based off my personal experience growing up in Italy and different parts of Italy may have different breakfast traditions :) feel free to correct me if I said something wrong!
Update on my life:
I’m sorry I was gone for a while but I’ve been working on a lot of stuff behind the scenes! 😣
I just got back from my nonna’s house so I’m working on that video as well, but I want to wait for the recipe book to be ready to post it 🥰
My boyfriend and I will be leaving for our year in Italy in about 3 months and I’M SO EXCITED AND NERVOUSSS 😄
Color graded by @chiyoks
Check out Chris's KZread Channel! He makes the most amazing cinematic videos and I look up to his style of filming/editing so much! I'm so glad he worked with me on this video and did all the colour grading 😊🙏🏻
[About Me]
Hi my name is Rosie, I'm 26 and my life is a bit confusing so i'm writing this lol.
To make it easy:
- I was born in Northern Italy, in the region of Veneto
- My whole family still lives there (mom, dad and my little sister Marty)
- I moved to Toronto, Canada, at 19 all alone to ✨find myself✨ (spoiler: it didn't work, i got more lost if anything)
So, I live half my life in Italy and half my life in Canada.
Also, my mom is from Moldova (country in Eastern Europe) and my dad is from Calabria (region in Southern Italy) and both my grandmas still live there. So you’ll occasionally see me going there as well.
I hope this clears things up a bit.. or maybe makes them more confusing lol.
I don’t know, i tried 😄

Do work that keeps you engaged and interested and you’ll have the energy and perseverance to keep going thru challenges (opportunities in disguise.) After that breakfast before to go school or work, Italians often eat something around 10\11 a.m to make a break ( a very light luncheon usually ) and then there is lunch at 1or 2 pm . If they eat all that caloric stuff too they would not eat until dinner.

    As an American - I'm so envious of the cultures of Europe - I love seeing these videos on the authentic daily life of Italians. & wow - the artistry, I cannot draw a straight line with a ruler, the ease of how they make those shapes with the pastry!! Also - thank you thank you, lol, for elucidating the true Italian espresso drinks - I've been a barista & it drives me nuts how Americanized things have become - thanks to Starbucks, lol, which I'm sure you know is just pure blech. So so far from authentic & yet they use all these cutesy Italian terms. Sorry, rant over, lol ;)

    As an italian living abroad I'm so jealous of all of those childhood staples from Italy that I don't have access to anymore! We also have Kinder Delice and Kinder fetta al latte in Cyprus and in my childhood I would eat them as an afternoon snack. I never even considered having them for breakfast because of how sweet they are.I loved them and I want to eat them again it’s been years since I have eaten one. I love how simple and light they are.

It was no surprise there as I'm a big fan ❤ I certainly know more about Italian breakfast options now and several completely unknown things like barley and ginseng coffee options! The quality, pace, locations, music, and your narration were wonderful!

I didn't really get to eat pastries when I last visited as I was more concerned in trying different pasta dishes. Keep making cool videos! 😁

    I can't believe you didn't mention tea. Like... tè con i biscotti? Lots of italian drink that for breakfast. It's definetly more popular than drinking orange juice for breakfast. The tea island in italian supermarkets is huge. I'm Italian and almost every adult I know drinks tea in the morning as an alternative for coffee or even the two of them as a combo, one after the other.

    I’ve always believed that Italy is like the European version of Mexico haha and I can tell you that with this video I got those vibes as well. We have our own pastries which we call “pan dulce” and it’s literally a staple, a lot of people enjoy drinking coke with it or just an instant coffee made at home, we’re also big on the cookies with coffee as well and I swear my whole life I thought kinder was mexican because it is really popular over here too. Amazing video as always! Sending you much love, Rosie ❤️

    greetings from Austria! 😊 I was born in Tyrol, so fortunately the delishiousness of italian pastries and cookies was never too far 😍 How Italians manage to stay in shape though, is still a mystery to me. Considering the amount of sugar and carbs in the daily diet. How is it even possible? I am envious 😅

  • @alessandrom7181

    Those pastries are usally made with very little to nil sugar and with quality products compared to let's say stuff made in USA or England, been there seen that, and usually, unless one has not to fast until dinner, you take just one togheter a coffee or a cappuccino, you will hardly see someone eating 2 o 3 of those pastries in the morning, very rare. Hence not a great consumption of carbs and sugar. As for pasta it's mostly just one dish of pasta at lunch for most people . In my house for example we never eat two times pasta in the same day, sometimes we don't eat pasta for 2\3 days either. Granted that is the topping that make pasta fattening, for example a dish of spaghetti with just a bit of olive oil is one of the healthiest stuff ever made and eaten even by athletes.

    Italian breakfast is one of the most unhealthy meals that they have. But that being said, all other meals are pretty balanced. The key here is balance. I rarely see Italians over eating most of the time. It’s just funny that they start their day with so much sugar..

  • @odetojoon

    @odetojoon

    So much sugar consisting of latte and, at best, 3/4 little biscotti. Or cereals. That's not much if you think about it. What Rosie has shown is basically our Sunday breakfast if we want some variation from the usual.

  • @ShineBrightDemi

    @ShineBrightDemi

    9 ай бұрын

    @@odetojoon it depends what you consider a lot. Each of those biscotti is has a lot of sugar. Here in my house my family eats them every morning. I do agree that is not a lot once a week, but if you eat that everyday it is. I think that a breakfast with some protein and healthy fats would just help stabilize blood sugar levels for the start of the day, instead of only carbs and sugar.

    Do you think that eating pancakes or eggs cooked in butter or fried bacon or sausages , or cereals full of sugar ( more than Italian sweet pastries) is a helthier way of starting the day? Let's check statistics on obese or fat peaople in Usa and Italy and you'll have the answer on who has the best blood sugar levels..
