Damn! That can am is a Beast. Just Raw power n torque! I was Hoping the raptor would of won. No Doubt a 1,000cc vtwin makes a difference & a floaty chasis gives it better weight transfer on the launch like a drag car vs a Corvette. Curvey track win for Corvette. Straight track win for the drag car. But for the record the can am is for sure impressive!

It's a gen 2 machine in the video so it wouldn't have that problem, at least they fixed that in 2009 and newer rotax engines..

Had that raptor back in high school. Fun as shit, no need to buy a mud quad to enjoy the mud.

very interesting, I'm a sport quad person, always reliable, easy to work on. my brothers got a canned ham, outlander 1000. 1 day just said "transmission communications error" across the dash. wouldn't start/turn over, $1K later w/a new module it runs again, it's only 3 years old. till then, I really wanted the renegade 1000. another can am buyer beware issue, it's a mud bike right ? but if you don't relocate the radiator and I cakes w/mud and overheats, goes into "limp mode", WTF, I can determine if my bike doesn't feel well enough to continue, thanks though. that raptors looking pretty good too me

Owner of a Renegade 1000 here. I’ve blasted my XMR through many mud holes without an issue so far. Owned it for about 4 months and can honestly say it’s a good bike. Sounds like you got a lemon, but moving from Honda to Canam I was very happy about the outcome

Both are excellent bikes you need both for different trails the renegade 800 is money'for value but if a 1000c comes at a good price grab it they put will put a smile on your face maintenance is a must .

This looks like they recorded it in the 80s

almost 10 years after this video was uploaded, im betting that raptor is still running great. still got the factory torque on them head bolts. renegade has had to have new head bolts due to being removed so many times! xD

You could pick up a raptor for almost half of what a Renegade 1000 goes for. Renegade is one hell of a machine though. It's my next quad if I get another one. As for now, my Raptor 700r will have to do.

I'm looking for more of a durability and maintenance comparison.

I chewed a Raptor 700 with my '08 Outlander 800 with a Ron Woods setup. My new Renegade X XC 1000 blows the doors off my old '08 Outlander 800...... and those guys call that a "sport" quad. lol! I say follow me on my Gade with your sport quad and we'll see who's the boss! Great video.

what kind of mods u got on the zilla? i got a zilla thats stock bore n stroke that would kill this can am in 4rth gear and its only geared up one in the front. if u wana fast zilla u gota get the right pipe, like drq 2.0 or hpr x19

Ya i got several 3 wheeler and they need to start making them again the ban was for only ten year, luckly there were guys back then that had money and bought a whole bunch of them so people like me that can ride can still buy a new one its just dated 1986, i know 3 men who have several never started 3 wheelers and now there are selling a few , i hate quad they are so much heaver and junk, 3 wheelers always and forever

+Art Trinidad Exactly, My KFX450R shits on most quads up to 60mph after that i don't have much chance as i have a gear limited top speed of 63mph. I've raced Scrambler 1k's and its pretty even to 60 on pavement. on gravel with the scrambler in 2x4 i win with him in 4x4 he wins the scrambler has a aftermarket filter with the box mod and an exhaust and programmer. its fun to run i don't give a shit if i win or lose i got my ass drug yesterday by a built big bore predator 560 stayed side by side till the top of 3rd after that he pulled 4 lengths. My kfx is your basic big 3, no cams or piston yet and still running on pump gas. I've had 450s that are alot faster than my kfx, in the 65-70hp range. but i'm happy with my KFX i'm not pulling the motor apart once a month, I might be getting old and lazy but i'd much rather just ride and not worry about the engine coming apart like built 450's. And Having Reverse is amazing as i mostly ride tight woods.

the 1000cc sport utilities are all fun and games until you need to turn, then traditional sport quads leave them in their roost lol Can Am and Polaris can compensate in a straight line for the weight with power, but no amount of power can make 900lbs corner like 450lbs

there is about 60% more horsepower in the Renegade than a 700R, but the renegade weighs like at least 100kg more than the 195 kilo Raptor

The Raptor weighs about half the Can Am, but the Raptor also makes 44hp, and the Can Am makes 82. So, the Raptor is half the weight, and makes about 53% of the power that the Can Am makes. With a good rider and the right tires, the Raptor should, by all means, be faster.

Stock raptors aren't that good. I have a 660 and bored it to 686 with dual exhaust lowered, and widened the a arm and axle and more. I raced a Kfx 700 and stomped it. You gotta put love and money into em and they are awesome. Change the sprockets, throw some kenda knarlys on there, and stomp anything when you get past 2nd gear.

Okay first I never said anything about me dragging a renegade ever. I just said I would prefer my quad way over a renegade. This comparison between these two quads is like saying it's impressive that a zx14r can beat a CBR 600. Yeah one is not as powerful but it's lighter but the other is a hell of a lot heavier and more powerful. Take them to the drags and a zx14 wins everyday. Take them to the track and the 600cc wins everyday. If they are gonna compare these two bikes atleast do it where both bikes are comfortable. So race in the drags. The can am wins. Race in the track the raptor wins. So how come people are so impressed the raptor lost in a drags but not impressed when a can am losses on the track. Listen I love both bikes I think the can am is a beast I just don't know why people are so impressed with it. All I was saying is that I would much prefer my bike over a can am anyday.

How about a big bore 700 turbocharged anti lag and with straight 12 paddles vs heavy modded can am Rene 1000 on 1m deep mud? I won a race against a 2019 trx 250 on a 2001 Yamaha big big bear 4x4 the trx 250's aren't that fast

Whatever you gotta tell yourself big guy... Something is wrong with that 'Gade then; I have one all stock and it will smoke any "sport" quad on the market with the front tires off the ground... Buddy has a 700 Raptor and a KTM 525. The Raptor should have stayed in the garage, and the KTM was 5 lengths behind the whole run

I have had both machines And hands down in a drag race the Can Am 800 beats the Raptor any day let alone the Can Am 1000. Now I'm sure if you mod the heck out of the Raptor it would be different but as they sit stock the Renegade in a drag race on clean dry pavement will beat the Raptor. Anyone that says otherwise is a Liar!

No the raptor if the rider knows how will flat out launch off the line and beat any renegade. I’ve seen this too many times. It’s all about the skills of the rider. The guy on the renegade is obviously a great racer. The guy on the raptor looks like it was his first time riding.

I'm not here to argue, but several of my friends have been racing quads and bikes their whole lives; we know how to shift and launch. Ran the KTM on an 800 Outlander a couple weeks back and that was a more fair race, but there's no way you'd touch my renegade on a 525 unless you tip the scales at 27lbs.. Sorry man

Yeah, but the Gade couldn't balls out mash the gas or would have never sat down. With stock clutching, you can't nail the gas on a Renegade, low or high gear, or it's gonna flip the f_ck over.
