Learning how to increase metabolism after 40 is not as difficult as you may think. In today’s video, we’ll teach you how to boost your metabolism using some research-backed metabolism-boosting techniques. There are a few simple things you can do to help you achieve this such as eating certain metabolism-boosting foods, engaging in certain workouts and exercises, or optimizing your sleep habits.
Boosting your metabolism after 40 means a natural increase in the calories burned by your body. Exercise is an obvious way to achieve this as an increase in muscle mass will make your body more metabolically active. In addition to your metabolism, all of the things we suggest in this video will help boost your overall health and your quality of life. Your metabolism doesn’t need to be in decline, you don’t need to lose muscle, and you can still enjoy eating!

    Two component that’s missing no matter how good the program is discipline and consistency. They are the main ingredients. Without these two ingredients nothing works. 48 here. I workout regularly at home. No skipping workouts unless I’m sick. Again discipline and consistency. I added HITT workout into my routine and that makes a huge difference. It takes a lot to be healthy. It has to be a lifestyle you choose to live, not for a week, a month or a year but part of your life.

    Hey Eddy, thanks for writing in and great question! Your absolute best bet is working with a physical therapist to help produce an exact plan for you to "wake up" your quad. Only they can help give you SPECIFIC advice but generally speaking, you can also work toward firing up your quad again through the following movements found from this comprehensive list: theprehabguys.com/quadriceps-activation/ -The FFP Team

    This is great info!! I practice this every morning pretty much. I have 32 ozs ( 16oz with green tea extract and 16 oz with Himalayan pink salt sprinkled in) of cold water first thing in the morning. Then 10 oz of black coffee. I think I might try the black coffee with the MCT oil for now on. Question though, If I add the MCT oil does that break my intermittin fast?

  • @Fitfatherproject

    @Fitfatherproject

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hey Mike, thanks for writing in and great question! There are numerous ways to approach and benefit from a fast. From a 0-calorie, no-food perspective, the MCT oil will break the fast as there is a decent amount of calories in there. However, from an insulin-suppressing version, MCT oil will not break your fast and can provide sustainable energy. So it really depends what you are trying to achieve from the fast and whether or not MCT is right for you. -The FFP Team

    Hey David, thanks for writing in brother! An in-person diagnosis/plan prepared by a Physical Therapist will be your best bet. However, it's not just about healing the actual injury as it's also important to take care of the surrounding muscle groups because they often overcompensate to support the injury. With that, you can find some excellent stretches and mobility work from the following playlist: pulse.ly/4jw84uyvtr Best of luck brother! -The FFP Team

    When I was a kid my grandad would tell us all to eat a banana then take a walk after a meal. We'd talk while taking a stroll around the neighborhood or if it's raining, walk around the house. I was pretty lean up til my late 40s when I finally stopped this habit and my weight began to go up. Guess I need to take up that habit again.

    Great video! Once you reach a certain age, every little bit helps, believe me. I used to live on pancakes with syrup, chocolate, 3 meals a day plus snacks whenever I wanted. AND I WAS SKINNY! Now, I am curvy/thick, not skinny and I don't even EAT those foods anymore except as an extremely rare treat! But, if I eat a tiny bit extra of HEALTHY foods I immediately notice weight gain. It's hell and makes me fear menopause (since I'm not even there yet and they say it's even worse after menopause).

    A coffee recipe I tried. Add powdered whole goat milk to my coffee with a turmeric blend (cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, nutmeg, maca, and turmeric). I also like to add a small spoon of good honey. You can add the MCT, but I like to get that from my healthy fats - avocados, nuts, coconut oil for cooking, or straight MCT oil for cooking. Anyway the base coffee recipe is above.

    Nice this Wayne. I do the same mixture with green tea. Caffeine in coffee is too strong for my system, takes away my sleep no matter when I take the coffee. I usually add a teaspoon of blackseed oil to the tea mixture - good for Leydig cells in men's testes if you are not allergic to it. Also kills parasites in the body too. For pain relief I mix it with comfrey tea - helps reduce whole body inflammation and pain for improved stamina and explosive workouts.

    Hi. John here. I am 78 with a DIY home gym. I retired on a Philippines beach and we grow vegetables, bananas, pineapple etc. But I was told Caffeine is a major concern for prostate, kidney etc. So I drink green tea now which has less Caffeine. But I enjoyed my wake up coffee in the past. Is it safe or not for seniors who work out, swim, never use alcohol?

  • @Fitfatherproject

    @Fitfatherproject

    Жыл бұрын

    Hey Michael, thanks for writing in and great question! While a higher protein diet may increase your body's creatinine levels, it doesn't necessarily mean an impairment of your kidney functionality. You can still have higher creatinine levels independent of your protein intake. So having healthy kidney functionality is important to help process but if concerned, please consult with your doctor as they can help further. -The FFP Team

    Protein powder will increase insulin. Insulin will tell your body to store fat. Just eat normal but less calories and if able, do some sort of resistance training and some walking, ride bike, exercise every day. Don’t over think it.

  • @Fitfatherproject

    @Fitfatherproject

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hey Shayn, thanks for writing in and great question! You are right that when our core temp drops, we are more susceptible to illness. So the point of #10 isn't to constantly put your body in this state, rather use it as a tool occasionally to help utilize some of those brown fat stores and increase those small micro-contractions. -The FFP Team

    Hey Apa, thanks for writing in and great question! The exact protein amount will vary, depending on your goal but a good rule of thumb is anywhere from .73g-1g/lb of body-weight. If looking to lose weight and be healthy, .73g is sufficient enough; if looking to build muscle, 1g/ is more adequate. But check out the following video breaking it down further==>kzread.info/dash/bejne/ppWf2c2tqM2Wh5c.html -The FFP Team

  • @Fitfatherproject

    Hey Peter, thanks for writing in and great question! Unfortunately, you won't find a lot of foods that naturally contain higher levels of MCTs. Your best bet is coconut oil but outside of that, using an MCT oil supplement where you can get it directly with a tiny serving works very well. Viva Naturals makes an organic product that we recommend. -The FFP Team

  • @Fitfatherproject

    @Fitfatherproject

    2 жыл бұрын

    Thanks for writing in and great question! Both white/green teas are absolutely healthy beverages as white teas are actually a variation of green. However, the powerful polyphenols found in the leaves may actually be more readily absorbed through the fermentation process, which white tea does not go through. However, white tea has its own merits so both can be enjoyed throughout a healthy daily/weekly lifestyle. -The FFP Team
