The cardboard box easter egg was good, it paid homage to the late Solid Snake who died on that tanker. Pliskin is a good man for taking after his methods.

You should do an additional video about all the neat stuff that can be found hiding in the original MGS2 demo. The one that always stood out to me was the presence of the FAMAS. It was probably removed from the final game because it made the standoff against the Tanker guards too easy, but I always thought it should have been added as a secret bonus on further playthroughs, like the USP suppressor.

I knew 2 of these, the spooky guard encounter and the skateboarding mini game

If you use action replay/xploder cheat codes on the MGS2 trial demo, you can actually get the FAMAS. So you can reenact those flashbacks scenes from main game. Haha

As a Substance player I not only knew about the Skateboarding mini-game but also of a slight difference in dialogue: in Sons of Liberty, Solidus says « _No more games, Raiden_ » but in Substance he says « _No more games,_ *Jack* » before the RAYs boss fights I’m proud to say I discovered Mei Ling’s cameo as well as the cardboard box easter eggs by myself! I thank you for introducing me to the TRIAL version of the game and the stats game over 😃 I haven’t played MGS2 in years and I still discover tips about it!

I knew all but the fact that ocelot disappears when looking twice.

I knew of all these already but ive been playing this game and series since I was a toddler! great content regardless pentazamin was probably included in the tanker mission as a red herring for the eventual bait-n-switch to Raiden in the Plant mission to come. Definitely makes you think you are going to find more weapons eventually and sets up the reveal of Metal Gear all the more important.

Great and interesting video! I didn't know almost all the facts, except for the skateboard :)

Mei Ling, Fission Mailed, faking being held and the soldier follows Raiden, sending pic of girls to Otacon, there are more, maybe a second video will be necessary. Really good game. Love your video.

About the newspaper pictures. If you throw a guard's body over the railing on the flight deck, you'll get the picture of that as well.

This is what i love about the mgs series. especially mgs 1 - 3. so many easter eggs and secrets to discovers even after 2 decades. the first three games are truly a masterpiece

howmany did you know? all of them. I will add a few things, since the video poster didn't mention it, the foto's you make on the tanker DON'T appear in the HD collection/master collection versions, ONLY the OG versions for the Xbox and PS2 (think also the OG PC version) Bluepoint screwed it up and it automatically defaults to the setting where you skipped the tanker. for the cardboard box man, even if you cheat in an M4 or an AK, snake will never run out of boxes. at the game over screen during the plant, if you get Rose as the person talking, she goes "Jack? Jack answer me! jack? jack! ... gast" that gasp is her getting killed, since near the end of the game AI colonel says "Rose is wired the same way" in reference to Olga's child being killed if Raiden's life ends (or his mission fails) this was found through translating the original script. if you have the PAL version of the original MGS2 release (sons of liberty) have no memory card or no save file on it, AI Rose will guide you through the initial menu, depending on what you choose determines what you get. for example, if you pick you played MGS1 a lot (or atleast seen both endings) you start on the tanker. if you say you never played MGS1, you start on the plant, this was removed in other releases because it led to a lot of people thinking they had a faulty version, since some never played the tanker mission since they didn't play MGS1, so they obviously answered that to AI Rose and she then started the Plant chapter. if you look around at the start of the plant chapter (the literal 1st room) everything there is artificial, the Jim suits are never used, the submarine is never used, the bugs there are modified as well, nothing is "real" as is the theme of the plant chapter. if you lay down with the bugs, they start to crawl over you and you get 1 over your rations, if you have a ration it'll slowly eat it (around 15 minutes for 1 ration I believe) you can get rid of it by going up and down on repeat in the menu. (fun fact, this is the ONLY way to get a ration to show up in your inventory on European Extreme) another fun fact about the sea lice, if you finish the game with 1 on your ration, your code name changes to sea lice. (not sure if it overwrited Big Boss rank) when Raiden talks at the beginning cutscene of the Plant Chapter, he talks in a more deep voice and much more confident, he even says "I feel like a legendary mercenary" but as soon as his codename is changed from Snake to Raiden, he becomes the whiny kid that we know. when you enter the 2nd room of the plant start (bottom of Strut A) the layout to get to the Node is exactly the same as MGS1s 1st VR mission on the Tanker, if you go to the crew lounge and watch the TV, you can see the Gurlukovich soldiers running (hard to see due to poor resolution) on the tanker, if you keep calling Otacon and when he mentions the "patriots" and you press R1 or R2 (the positive thought buttons, L1 and L2 are negative thoughts) Snake will say LA LI LU LE LOOOOOO! (recently found that out) on the Pentazamine bit of the video, if you're outside and actually lean against a wall, the camera shakes a lot more, if you take the pentazamine, the shaking stop. during Scott Dolph's speech, if you continuesly go between area's at some point he will call you out and urges you to continue your mission. if you crawl in the ducts during the speech, a marine will lose a mag that falls into the ducts. on the plant, there are a lot of context sensitive codec calls, for example if you go to the womens bathroom and sniffed a toilet there (no joking) Peter will tell you "the bomb is in a place where we are normally not allowed, a place we can't enter if the situation didn't call for it ... ah, but you already been there I see" (refering to you already being there and sniffed the toilet) if you go to the mens toilet and sniff the urinal there, the Colonel and Rose will comment on that you're sick in the head. if you put Snake to sleep when you meet him, if you keep calling him at some point he alerts and says "LIQUID!" and mumbles back to sleep, if you keep shooting Pliskin though, he starts to fire at you on sight. when going after Emma, the last air pocket you can find, if you go first person you can actually see Emma, look a bit too long and Rose will call you because she's jealous. After the Fatman fight, if you don't discover the bomb until 10 seconds and you ask the colonel for help, Rose will say to look under fatman, if you then defuse Fatman's last bomb, Rose will comment on it and Raiden will say "I got a healthy respect for the female intuition" where Rose goes "that's so sexist of you" (of course she makes something that she genuinely did correctly for once in a sexist moment) fun fact, if you played MGS2 in english, you missed the intended experience. for example, Olga and Meryl share the same voice actor, so the original intent is that when Snake sneaks up to Olga, he hears Meryl (that's why she always hides her face) the same for Solidus, Solidus and Solid Snake in Japanese share the same VA, so in the Japanese version you hear that Snake is the ring leader of this terrorist attack, and when you hear Solidus speak over the radio to Olga (sounding like meryl btw) you hear Solid Snake speak. Also when Olga disguises herself as the Ninja, she only talks in the actual voice clips of Gray Fox from MGS1, in the English version it's quite apparent that Olga is the Ninja due to their Russian accents. if you equip Sensor A in the hostage room and you crawl underneath a table and use the D mic to talk to the hostages, they pee themselves, actually showing up as green on the sensor. if you go next to the podium, there's a giant red spot on there, which is Johnny shitting. if you point the D mic at the women, Raiden also says their measurements. the younger woman at some points "i'm jennifer!" When Ocelot walks torwards you and Ames tells you to pick up your AK, if you run away you instantly get caught (the game over screen shows Gurlukovich soldiers with a backpack, they used the wrong model, that's the Soldiers from the Tanker) if you equip the box and run away, you can get much farther for whatever reason. the BDU has a hidden camo index, after you lose the Balaclava, if you equip it and after the Harrier fight, the soldiers sights is reduced if you have the BDU equiped (to the point you don't need to stop for the 2 soldiers investigating the damage) if you don't get caught on the side walk after the harrier fight, at some point you have that soldier that goes "oh, i'm about to go in my pants, nobody is looking right?" if you stick around you get pissed on, if you hang you actually see it glittering (incredible amount of details for piss) if you call the Colonel after, Colonel will say "uh Raiden, my sympathies, these missions are called wetwork for a reason" and Rose adds "it's fine Jack, as long, the moment you get back you take a shower" I could go on, but it's already basically an essay. if you want more, Outerheaven on Twitch does monthly in depth marathons of the entire Kojima saga of MG (MG1,2, MGS1,2,3,4, PW and 5)

I always imagined the game over screen said *something* but my ps2 was hooked up to a CRT...

Only on PS2 as Evolution Skateboarding is only released on PS2 and Gamecube. Wouldn't make sense to include a demo of a game that isn't going to release on a platform that it isn't going to be on.

A little boost? I can literally Jump into having an op loadout by paying probably a few hundred bucks so ye it's a huge benefit if you pay a lot and also the spam of "offerings" and "hot deals" is insane. Also if you use Android 14/OneUI 6.1 have fun with the crashes. On my device the game is a crash simulator...

The web photos actually show in ALL versions, you just have to get to that point in the game in one sitting to see them since it's not saved to the memory card. (This is consistent across all versions)

I've spent countless hours modding these games and have gone back and forth between the original SOL, Substance, HDC, and Master Collection versions confirming the differences to restore old stuff (check Nexus mods and you can see most of MGS2's mods are made by me. :P) The webdemo cutscene has numerous alternative photos that can be shown (you can check \eu\stage\webdemo\bp_assets.txt in the PC version of the MC to see them) which are chosen on certain specific actions you take during the tanker mission (ie hanging off ledges, dumping bodies off the ship yourself), all of which rely on it still being in the game's RAM (meaning you can't turn the console off if you want to see the alternative photos that you took yourself.)@@user-ek2xg3ps5s

A sponsored video means that the creator gets paid for their hard work (y'know, the hard work you're watching for free?). Literally all you need to do is click on your screen once to skip past it. @@damienjohn maybe learn how premium works. They get paid from all of our subscriptions. If I’m paying to not see ads, I shouldn’t see any. Now to saying I’m entitled, yes. I pay for something, I expect what I pay for. I’ve already contacted KZread on a solution, as to incorporate a feature that automatically skips the sponsored segment for premium members. Another way for creators handle sponsors, is put them at the end of the video. A quick “stick around for end of the video” at the start, and keep it moving.

welp was going to watch the whole video, but RAID: Sellout legends baked in add prevented me from being able to continue. Get better sponsers.

I have to say that I was disappointed with mgs2 since there isn't too many boss fights and the boss fights were kinda disappointing to me. Not to mention that no cool stuff like controller vibrating by psychomantis moments or anything cool like that, just the colonel telling you to turn off the console. And after the game switches to Raiden, it feels like the game now all of a sudden targets women or in other words tries to attract women to keep playing the game and feel Raiden's feelings. Like as if it's made for perverted women or something like that. And I think a metal gear solid game must be in 30fps, not 60 since character movement wasn't as precise as mgs1 and mgs3. Though I must say the graphics is amazing but I don't play games to look at it. And the voice acting, especially the Russians and Otocon's voice acting were really really bad. And the Mei Ling Easter Egg was the only moment where I got excited to hear someone's voice in this game. And Vamp character is just stupid in my opinion. Though what got me to this game was the colonel or the A.I talking about the digital age and the patriots. And that's it. Such a disappointment for me. But I think you forgot the Mei Ling Easter Egg,
