@Heer Kommando its the train station ones. The ones Cyborg Ninja (MGS1) and Sunny (MGS4) said as well.

My personal favorite MGS game. Besides Raiden being an abrupt and unexpected protagonist that many got upset over, I don't understand why people think this is the weakest game in the main series. The themes, improvement in gameplay, soundtrack, and easter eggs really stand out and has aged really well with the exception of the controls.

+TyroneTiggums64 I like MGS2 and I like it more than 4, 5, or PW, but it is pretty flawed in a lot of ways. A lot of the boss battles are pretty weak (at least compared to the first game, although I liked the fight with Vamp a lot) and the design feels very full of padding (searching for bombs, for instance). And while its themes and story are fantastic, the writing is bogged down with a lot of exposition. I love the game as a whole but I can see why it's not as beloved as some others in the series.

DylanYoshi Me personally, I'd say MGS4 is the weakest in the main series. With the Metal Gear franchise, gameplay doesn't mean very much if the story sucks and MGS4 is chock full of plotholes, inconsistencies, and retcons. Combine that with weak bosses, easy difficulty, and cutscene usage taken to an extreme level (a couple are over an hour long with no break) and you have an unsatisfying experience overall. MGS5 suffers from the same problem to a lesser degree and MGS1 has the exact opposite situation where gameplay is horribly stiff but the story's good. So to me, it's: 5) MGS4, 4) MGS5, 3) MGS1, 2) MGS2, 1) MGS3 (just barely however because the pacing sucks due to heavy menu usage).

TyroneTiggums64 I liked 4 a bit more than 5, although (outside of Peace Walker) those two are my least favorites overall. The only reason I prefer 4 to 5 is because 4 has an actual ending and 5 doesn't, I'd take 5 over 4 easily if it didn't just end so abruptly. I liked them both over Peace Walker, though. Peace Walker just felt too serious and didn't have enough Metal Gear weirdness (albeit it did during the ending) in the main plot. I also hated fighting those boss battles solo, they take way too long and I thought it was really obnoxious. Not to mention having grind said boss battles in order to reach the True Ending. I like MGS1 the best, although I would say MGS3 is the best designed. MGS1 I just really like the villains, the boss battles, the aesthetic, and the metroidvania style. I'd rank them as MGS1 > MGS3 > MGS2 > MGS4 > MGS5 > MGSPW. The only one I didn't enjoy much was PW.

The attention to detail in these games are soooo good it would even make Naughty Dog jealous.

Naughty Dog has never been in Kojimas league. Love crash bandicoot, but uncharted and last of us especially are just 'good 'games. Not masterpieces

*SPOILERS AHEAD* I always thought Raiden's introduction was meant to symbolize what would happen if the Patriots gained complete control of the flow of information. I mean, think about it. Kojima made us believe one thing, and by the time we realized he was lying, the game was already out and it was too late. The general dislike for Raiden (even though I like him) only seemed to emphasize how wrong that kind of control would be. It's similar to a conversation Raiden has with Emma while on the Big Shell, that has to do with The Patriots changing the supposed number of cells that compose a human body on official medical reports, and the public never found that out. That was the moment of realization for me, at least...

This was and still is my favorite game ever, along with GTA San Andreas. My childhood was fucking amazing.

MGS2 is my favorite out of the series. It was my first Mature game as a kid and I'll never forget it. I think now Phantom Pain is my new 2nd favorite with Snake Eater being tied with Solid for 3rd.

I never forget when I played the demo--consisted of the first and second half of the Tanker mission. I knew that I needed to buy MGS2 on day one. I still love playing it to this day, even if through the PCSX2 emulator.

Fact Enemy soldiers in mgs2 hold the guns down at the ground for safety reasons,unlike mgs1 with enemy soldiers holding there guns pointed upward in the air similar to James Bond

well i guess it makes sense, the mgs1 soldiers are shown to be careless with how they handle the nuclear warheads, it seems in character for soldiers like that to be using other weapons carelessly

greatest game ever made, no contest, so much depth, cerebral concepts, architecture and GUI's that belong in a museum, UNTOUCHABLE soundtrack, you can tell this was kojimas last stand, he threw everything at it, his magnum opus, its a piece of art. while not my favorite to play (mgs3) never seen anything trek artistic excellence since except the 1st Bayonetta (that was pretty impressive)

MGS1 and 2 gave me PTSD. Never forget Psycho Mantis and AI Colonel.....I was very young when I played these games....

I love this game. The motives and opinions behind it are really interesting, especially how well it holds up if you look at the gaming industry today.

Trying to be civilised about this, but why haven't you tried to support more smaller channels more frequently with content relevant to creators. For example, somecallmejohnny is doing a metal gear marathon right now, so he would be appropriate for a metal gear episode of DYKG. Or have all of the members of the X-keepers voice a kingdom hearts episode, etc. Because you constantly have people like this on, and I understand why you use yungtown and caddicarus so often, but smaller channels won't be as bogged down with work to prevent them from being able to voice and episode. Just please take this comment into consideration please.

I absolutely love mgs2. It was my first "next gen" game. Going from Sega Saturn, ps1, snes, etc and starting up mgs is one of my all time favorite gaming moments of all time. Sure, mgs2 is outdated and the graphics are nothing compared to what is normal today.. But mgs2 blew me away. The rain effects, ice melting in real time, glass breaking, bags of flour spilling it's contents, pipes leaking steam when shot, even the effect of his bandana in the wind (which could be seen in real-time) made it feel like it was playing a game from the future. I loved it. I loved the fact that the character models for gameplay were the same for cutscenes. See, most games then would use different models; a higher polygon count/resolution for some pretty cutscenes.. And s lover resolution model for gameplay. Mgs2 used the same character models throughout... which impressed me.

Actually MGS2 used low poly models when there wasn’t a cutscene. In the HD edition they swapped out the low poly models with the cutscene models.

Wow. I've never played MGS2, but its graphics look impressive as hell. I would say "for its time", but the fact is few game studios make animation look this good even today.

my favorite MGS game. Maybe it doesnt have the best gameplay or the fact you dont use snake (which i dont mind), BUT it has the best plot of any MGS game hands down.

You didn't mention that Snake escaping from the sinking tanker was cut. Originally, the player would have to escape from the holds and make it all the way to the deck, with water rushing in like a time-based mission. The developers felt that the pacing for it was off or was too difficult to implement correctly, so they scrapped it and left part of the gameplay in a cutscene between Snake and Raiden.

8:17 as much as i didn't know the english names, i got the idea thanks to the "organic" sound of them, and yes, it felt exactly like that, the whole section after the entrance to arsenal gear felt oniric ,weird, and scary, and that's what really made me love the game as possibly my favorite game ever. i felt more scared and inside a beast with mgs2 than with devil may cry 3.

When the colonel said "Honestly though, you have played the game for a long time.. Don't you have anything else to do with your time?" That hit me too close to home.

I was 12-13 when mgs1 came out and it's my favourite game ever. So I can't for the life of me understand why I didn't play mgs2.

While MGS2 is incredible I wouldn’t say it’s the best. My vote goes to 1 or 3

Nice surprise.

i remember that at first I was of those who hated the game because I don't play as Snake, but now I really love it, and this video gave me so much nostalgia, I want to play this again.

would've loved to see more of that brush-work model textures concept

Shuriken gaming Yes the test model on the Documents of MGS2 had shader effects on her body and the PS1 model looked more animated in her eyes.Otherwise it's the same crap.

Ahhh, First mgs I played was this one, I beat this, 3, and 4. I unfortunately don't have 5. But great video man, I'm going to watch the rest of this DYKG MGS series, I watch crash bandicoot already(so hyped for crash in ps4), then ima watch the DYKG on Spyro. Love the channel yo, keep up the dope videos!

2:12 "Nuculer weapons"... why do I hear this everywhere?

I played this game later than most at probably 2010 and when I played it, I was so fascinated by the graphics, content, gameplay even when I had been playing on the PS3. Seriously, this game was just superb when I played it and made me fall in love with the Metal Gear franchise.

This game series has so many intricate references that there could even be a dedicated channel for it. Or website.

I think arsenal gear having areas named after digestive organs is a very smart and deep metaphor. A metaphor for everything turning to shit.

This was my favourite MGS game. The theme is so dark at times.

I wish this was longer omg.

I hated using raiden, this game was the beginning of the end of me and metal gear. I started with the nes, and when they stuck me with raiden I felt like I was tricked into playing a game I didn't want.

MagnuMagnus similar situation with cancellation of Zettai Zetsumei Toshi 4 for PS3

In the scene with the projector and all the soldiers standing, you can take a picture as the slide changes and youll see a photo of kojima in the game

that last part with the names of places being internal organs was so creepy it was awesome

Kissing that poster XD Guards making sure the coast is clear before they read the FHM magazine Skirts and crotch punches the good ol' days...

My brain paused at the mispronunciation of "nuclear" at 2:12.

I'm not usually a stickler for pronunciation, but this one is a pet peeve of mine.

Vamp's early theme sounds amazing. It's also pretty darn catchy.

1:11 interesting! That shade model was actually used in the turn based MGS for the PSP!!

Kind of sad how the series has stopped now due to the idiocy of Konami, but we are fortunate to have these treasures of games.

You got it backwards, Kojima wanted the series to end with Phantom Pain, but Konami pretty fired him and they will continue to pump out more Metal Gear games until they milk every penny out of this franchise that they can.
