Actually, you can put both Airy AND her sister, Anne! Because the fairy that appears in the opening of the first game asking you to "stay til the very end" and also appears after the end credits saying "Oh, good job, you stopped my sister's evil plan!" is actually Anne. She basically makes you think that she is rooting for you to save the world from Airy and the dark god Ouroboros, and she is... but not for noble reasons! Turns out in Bravely Second, Anne was also in the service of a dark god, this time named named Providence. She wanted Airy's plans out of the way as they posed a threat to Providence which is why she approached the player for help. She also uses the villains for her own ends and had actually succeeded until the heroes go back in time to prevent Kaiser from abducting Agnes like he did in the beginning. Both fairies are master manipulators but Anne is the better one because she was able to manipulate even YOU, the player.

The cab driver being Kaïn in Bloodlines is pretty much confirmed when you play a Malkavian. The unique dialogue option they get (working from memory here) in a specific conversation with the guy being an answer going something like "So... That mean you are...!" followed by mad laughter. And reading between the lines is enough to understand since basically only the father of vampire-kind causes that kind of obsession and awe in vampiric society.

The big thing I feel is that he was not the mastermind of this Coffin Farse, it was Jack. He really hated all sides of the typical faction fighting, and found a way to take them all down a peg or three, especially LaCroix. In some of the endings you get screwed over (Jack and the dynamite laden coffin for you and LaCroix, the Kuejin dumping you in said coffin off the coast of California). But this being VTM, that is part for the course of how some games can end in the tabletop game.

Hmmm... actually i'd say The Watchers who opened the Portal in Drakengard 3 were the real villains. Or at least Nier who doomed Humanity in a seemingly selfish act. Devola and Popola were basically just following their programming and trying to protect what's left of humanity. If Nier hadn't defeated the Shadowlord, Gestalts and Replicants would've been fused back together (with humanity probably still being doomed because Replicants can't reproduce). Personally i don't think that there is a "true" villain in Nier: Replicants became self-aware, they got a consciousness of their own. At least to a certain extend. Now who has the bigger claim? The Gestalts over their Replicant bodies or the Replicants who just want to live (that question still divides players ^^) Devola and Popola were just inbetween all of that but i wouldn't say that they were the villains of the game.

I was pissed the first time I completed Dark Souls, rekindled the First Flame, only to watch my character self-immolate in a five-second cutscene before it fades to black! I didn't realise that there was another possible ending. Circumstances have to happen just right to even meet his counterpart, Kaathe, who explains that the "Age of Dark" does not mean "evil", but rather is the Age of Man. The gods have shown to be nothing more than self-serving, so why sacrifice yourself for their ends? Every other playthrough since I simply walk away from the First Flame, and get a MUCH better ending. Frampt seems to repent, or at least acknowledges he's lost, when he, Kaathe, and all the other unnamed primordial serpents bow before you.

Not sure that's 100% correct. I think you got the process name correct but I was under the impression it would require you to drink ALL of the blood of the elder vampire gaining all of their power. In the roleplaying books this also results in yourself getting a unique aura that certain vampires can see which makes it also incredibly dangerous and its supposedly illegal in the vampire world, just as illegal as breaking the Masquerade. Drinking another vampires blood normally however without killing the "victim" would turn you into a ghoul I believe but I don't remember if it was only for humans, but I do remember that the vampire that does the drinking can also become enthralled to the one offering their blood as well, almost like mind control. I don't remember if vampire who do this will get an immense amount of power or not but I know humans who do see a drastic increase in their abilities, while still being mortal, almost like a super serum.

@@raventhorX 2 months late, but who cares? Yes, if you drink ALL of the blood of a vampire which is of a "lower" (older) generation, you´ll become a vampire of that generation and *might* get some of their powers if they´re from a different clan/ blood line than yours. also true is that you get a "tainted aura" from diablery, and vamps with a certain Auspex level can see that. But usually those marks go away after a while and very old and powerful vampires can potentially disguise their aura. The ghoul thing is basically correct, but that´s purely for humans. You can "bind" a vampire to you and make them submissive to you in a similar way (frequently letting them taste your blood). Contrary to ghouls, vampires could potentially withstand or even break that bond though. Damn, I kinda miss the WoD pen&paper times...Especially my books like the Book Nod and Encyclopedia Vampirica (had a signed one that the author gave us on a small convention... someone stole it -.-)

Imagine a game that actually had dynamic story elements that affected the entire game and could play out differently every time you play through it. Like starting a game with several assistants, but one of them is randomly picked to become the main villain by the end of the game, or one of the big bad's key lieutenants defects to help you but it's random which one will do it. It would be like random events in game, but they actually have MAJOR implications and changes to the overall story. With just a few of things like this you could have over 10 different endings easily.

Yeah, and in the original Dark Souls the First Flame had only been linked once. We know that by the time of Dark Souls 3 the countless linking have kept the Age of Dark at bay but the dark became more and more twisted each time it was fought back. Humanity stopped being the "chosen" darklings, they were replaced with the insect folk and their ilk. If the fire had been allowed to fade that first time the Age of Dark would have probably still been survivable for humanity. It was also the endless Age of Fire that caused the dregs of humanity to sink to the deepest depths of the abyss, which is implied to eventually lead to the Age of the Deep Sea that Aldrich dreamt of.

Bravely Second also has another important NPC showing up out of nowhere: the "savepoint" guy, since I really dont know what else to name him. He's just an NPC present before every major boss fights, allowing you to save and stock up on items before going in. It doesn't make any sense for a random merchant to just... be there, in a place crawling with powerfull monsters. But yeah, he sure can defend himself, and prevents the party to get their ass kicked by the final boss, and nobody expects it. It basically as stupid as if RE4 merchant was the one to throw a rocket launcher to Leon instead of Ada.

CBDC Lieutenant Jason Chance is just some barely there NPC that pops up in a mission or two and just seems like a rather green field agent, prone to getting himself captured and kind of a nice guy. But completely inconsequential as a character. Until he's not and turns out he is one of the big bads in on the conspiracy the whole time.

Then the sword went from one owner to the other when finally the last warrior didn't have the strenght to fight anymore and as he was stumbling over the desert he came upon Narikos(I think thats her name, the red haired girl) father which put his arms in front and the warrior handed the sword over to him, finally being free from the sword which slowly drained his life force. In Vampire Bloodlines, I was always under the impression that the whole plot was set up by Jack and planned by Jack, with the Cabbie as a witness or confidant. Either way calling the Cabbie a villain in the story is laying it on thick. A mastermind? Certainly. He showed an unmistakeable interest in the MC however in a way that could almost be considered... Fatherly... Just look at him, taking his childe to their first day of school, to meet their friends and making sure they always get home safe. For a dark father whose been absentee for most of history he certainly is showing up a lot for you in particular, which I always found absolutely fascinating.

One of my faves, is in the Lord of the Rings Online game: Sarah Oakheart. She's this old women you come across in multiple areas. Each time, she is 'caught up in some trouble' and you need to safely escort her: lead her out out of some prison pen, undead barrows, goblin camp, whatever. And, like all escort quests, the brain-dead NPC rushes around, pulling more mobs on you, getting herself in trouble before you get yourself out of the previous troubles. Fast forward months later, you get called by her to escort her to an area in the heart of the enemies' territory. This time she boldly just strolls through, then announces herself as the new big bad. You've been advancing her goals for ages, and yes, that escort npc literally was trying to get you killed. It was a glorious trolling.

Fun fact about Wild ARMs 3: The entire game is designed as an "alternate universe" of the first game (not to be confused with Alter Code F) but with locations and the like from 2. The point is that A LOT of the enemies in 3 were from the first game but re-imagined. Beatrice, the final boss of 3, was a story-important-throw-away dungeon boss from the first game most forgot about. If you had played the first game, you might have gone through 3 wondering where she was, only for her to be in literally every town and in a TON of cut-scenes - sometimes walking between you and the enemy!

There's a couple different points brought up to help support that claim, the most memorable for myself being that they "just can't" help target Ganon during one of the last fights, then during the final fight says she will. Bit of paraphrasing in there but I encourage you to look it up as it's by far not my own idea and the original author(s) of the idea covered it much better than I did.

That's true during the first game but by the time of the third game humanity would fall if the Age of Fire ended. The insects and other creatures who came from the abyss are the ones who inherited the Age of Dark from us. In all actuality humans may have been doomed from the moment Gwyn sealed the dark within the ancient humans and cursed us with the Darksign.

I have never been as pissed at a character in any game as I was with Big Smoke.

Wow. Heavenly Sword. Haven’t heard about that game in forever. It was one of the reasons why I bought a PS3 originally. I never finished it because I hated the controls so much but I wish I did. It was a pretty fun game.

Kendra Daniels in Dead Space 1 was a really nice surprise. The idea got recycled a few times and didn't work out that well later though.
