It is not possible to know everything Cruise owns because most rich people do not purchase stuff in their name. They use proxy corporations to buy stuff so that their affairs stay private.

Remember Tom Cruise is an actor. He gets paid to ACT, which means his religion is probably acting as well. It wouldn't be hard to use a religion as a means to reduce tax liability, because registered recognized religious organizations in the US do not pay income taxes.

The problem with buying things that are hugely expensive is that you automatically hugely limit the number of people who can afford to buy them from you. My theory is that the religion is just a way to get out of paying taxes. He can donate money to the religion, they pay 0% tax, and then random a few years later, that same money could be transferred to a trust fund in another country. In theory :)
