D24 also had a very distinct sound

I'm very disappointed that there are no 5 cyl diesels in this video. 5 cyl sounds the best, om605 and om612, literally the best sounding engines ever

As a OM602 owner I have to admit that Audi sounds insane

Chance Morris they sound amazing with hoodpipe the only downside of a D24 is that they blow the top of since it's from the beginning a petrol engine

the OM606 is just the best sounding I6 Diesel, if not the best sounding diesel overall

bmw x6 3.0 diesel engine is m57, used in lots of bmw cars..

We all now that a good ol' N/A big displacement diesel engine is bulletproof, even with a very bad maintenance... The thing is that now they're all direct injection (1500-2000 bars), turbocharged with particle filters that clogs, egr valves that soot the engine... So now you'll basically get an engine that can't run 1-2 million kilometers without a trouble... sad, but true

There is also the Renault Espace 3.0 dci V6 which sounds greaaaat

D24-the-win XD (get it?) And BMW xDrive 3.0D as well

Idk dude, I'm a Duramax guy but that Scania V8 sounds pretty dang mean.

I have just had my 3L V6 turbo diesel Mercedes CLS straight piped, and removed back boxes. Now it is ilegal to decat it in the UK so that's not a option. And iv'e had no increase in sound? WHY?

Isuzu diesels also sounds really good

The V10TDI and R5 TDI are Pumpe-Düse engines. Mikkei was talking abouth the 2.5TDI with rotary pump found in Audi 100/A6 and Volvo.

Audi's first v6 was actually made in 1998, not in 2004, they made a 2.5 v6 tdi that came in Audi A6 C5.

I agree that they were unreliable engines, I found that out myself, since I own one. But, after we took the engine out and appart, put new bits and pieces, changed almost everything, rebuilt the entire engine, new brakes and suspension, etc., the car is actually very enjoyable to drive. Truth be told, I bought it for 800e so I could afford all the fixing it needed. But still, it is an Audi's first V6 :)

but that black smoke is unburnt diesel, there is much more dangerous gases getting out of petrol engine exhausts but you just cant see them, not everything black is bad

rudkacka that's not true. Only modern petrol engines with direct injection produce the fine particles that are bad for your lungs. However Diesel exhaust gases contained carcinogenic substances ever since. And Diesel simply stinks.

jokke pappa i can say that the D24 is worse.. by far.. isn't basically a petrol engine converted to run on diesel.. so it's not unusual for a D24 to blow the top to the sky.. AND! the D24 runs on petrol no problem

The cylinderhead problems. a little more boost, and it's done. always. the used, but good cylinderhead for BMW TDS engine is rare, and everywanna buy it. if u use it as daily, you have to keep at least one for you. You can loose the compression any time. Forexample. The common rail engines better for tune.

I'm sold one of these for 100 dollar. The community almost killed each one of that price. It was stock, without any repair. The guy who got that, told me, he has 5 point melting and crack on it.
