1 Year of Skateboarding Progression!

Skateboarding takes time! It’s not something you can just learn in a one day.
When you see someone perform a “typical skateboard trick” it literally years of hard work got them to that point. In this video we are going to follow 3 different beginners and review how they progressed over the course of one year.

As somebody who just got into skating recently at 23, seeing the inclusion of the guy learning it at 25 has given me a LOT of confidence

Skateboarding has no age. Imagine the embarrassment of a guy who is 12 years older (me!) learning how to skate 😅

Me too at 20!🤣🤣
All three of them have reason to be proud of themselves. It was great to see all of them slowly get more comfortable on the board and develop a bit more style.
man being able to learn kicklfip within a year is extremely impressive. it took me about 5 years or more to learn kickflips

I'm convinced younger kids learn things faster. They do when say, learning a second language for example.

Me too i got my first one at 11 years old 8 years after i starded i think but i only did dropins and stuff so yeah
I like how its showing a variety of different journeys because the first one was more into cruising anround, the second one was into the tricks and the last one was an sdult trying something new and its amazing to see their progress and how brave they all are
I started AND quit skating at the age of 25........about 17 years ago. Just got back into it this year. That last guy just inspired the hell out of me!
Much love and respect to you and your channel Ricky. I hope that you are doing well and that your recovery is coming along perfectly. 🙏💯
I’m 43 and two months in and haven’t skated since 1996. I had some good abilities back then as young so I know how to do a lot but wow the fear of falling, hurt and work etc plays hugely and getting time to and social aspect as well. It’s tough at 43 but love the videos
I'm 24 and just bought my first board for tricks! I've had a cruiser for a few years now and I finally decided to build a board. After a few attempts I landed my first Ollie ever! I'm so proud of myself and happy I decided to enter into this world! Even though I suck this has been such a fun learning process!
Now thinking back, my friend learned front 180s in just 2-3 weeks thats insane.
This gave me a lot of motivation I just started skating and I'm having so much fun and it's helping me coping with some mental problems and seeing this makes me really happy so thank you for this video :)
love these videos! so awesome to see, loving your commentary as well
Damn these guys are progressing fast! Wayyy faster than I did 😅 nice work to them!
I'm about to turn 35, just started learning, again, falling hurts more nowadays 🤕 But the results will be worth it ☺️

I just started skating at 33 and some times I find beginner progression videos demoralising because of how long its taking me just working on the basics
Keep up the awesome content Ricky, we really enjoy your videos mate! I hope you’re doing well also, take care on the mend buddy. 🙂
It's a beautiful thing seeing new people begin skateboarding.
That second kid was learning incredibly quickly. Also, I learned heelflips before kickflips. Watching people learn is fun though, it reminds me of how for I’ve come with it. I’ll always remember my first skateboard
Awesome presentation exhibiting how skateboarding builds an individual's characteristics.
Man, as an 'old skater' who just picked up the board again after 25 years+ away -- it's inspiring but also wild to see how quickly these skaters advanced their skills. Here I am just focusing on getting my body in a functional state to skate day-after-day. lol. Everything hurts - but I can't stop thinking about getting out there again. Also, good to see some of these skaters wear PADS...I wish I did in my teens...and now I feel it everywhere. PAD UP KIDS. That is all
Awesome video ricky. 💯💙🛹
I loved first getting into skating wish I could've recorded all the slams I had. I pretty much started over from scratch after breaking my foot then arm and then winter time. I hope I progress as much as them.
Hope your feeling better!
This was motivating... how often to skate weekly to see good progress? I have been real inconsistent over the past few years maybe 3 now...
I've had my skateboard for about two years now, but I made the mistake of not really doing much research and trying to teach myself and ended up with a sprained ankle that I needed to do PT for before I could get back to skating and by the time I could, it was winter. Last summer, I went to the park a total of once. The thing is originally I mainly just wanted yo learn to cruise around so I have a cruiser and was more focused on that. Aside from spending about three hours learning how to go down the hill at the end of my street and stop comfortably at the bottom and those two trips to the park, I haven't really focused at all on actually skateboarding. Been getting a lot of skateboarding videos in my recommended and now I'm really inspired to start learning. I need to be careful with my ankle and my knees, but I at least want to get the basics down. Took my board to a nearby basketball court and started really trying to get the basics down. I can cruise well since that's most of what I've been doing, but I never really learned a lot of the other basics. I'm going through Braille's skateboarding bootcamp right now. This almost feels like day four of skateboarding even though cruising has given me a great base to start from. I'll start counting my progress from here. Wish me luck!
The feeling is unexplainable best thing in the world
Love this video ❤️

This reminds me of when you used to watch clips from your discord. Good times ❤👍
Great vid
The boy is crazy quick in progress
I go to the same skatepark as Giovanni. it’s in oklahoma and it’s pretty nice!
Just learning how to skate rn this is inspiring
I've been skating for a week and got the fakie shov it after 3 consecutive days of only trying that trick for 1 hour esch day. Nothing beats the feeling of landing the first trick
The guy at 25 gave me confidence and I'm starting at 23. My main goal is to learn tictac then ollie up or down a curb. I still need to apply a bit more of riding a skateboard, and also knowing how to fall safely. After learning the ollie we'll see if I want to learn other more since I'm not really a trickster, more of a cruiser person, that's why my main goal is to be able to ollie Edit: I also want to learn ollie on a ripstik/waveboard after. I know how to ride a waveboard very well and do some tricks on it, but I'm really scared of ollieing with it.
Believe in yourselves and each other and never give up on your dreams and aspirations and remember to be kind and uplifting to each other and open minded and genuine and respectful.
29 years old i'm learning basics since 2 weeks, and enjoy my progression
I just bought my first skateboard at 28 :) I needed to see this 😊
Skated from yr 10 to yr19 quit cuz I had kids now getting back into it at 26 gives me some hope
They progressed fast wish I lived near good flat ground or park
I'm 38. I skated in highschool everywhere but never really went to the skatepark. Now my 5 year old son and I are starting to go every Sunday. It's probably the most fun I've had in a long time. Plus I get to do it with him.

Same here. Used to skateboard to work everyday and stuff in high school. 41 now with 16 year old kid that wants to learn. Mom, with no experience, was teaching him 😂 I got him an 8.0 Primitive. I got an 8.25 Zero, loyal since I was a kid. He loves it more now that I’m teaching him, him actually learning 😅 He enjoys being in the board and sharing it with me, cuz me and his mom split awhile back. Respect for sharing time and having fun with the same hobby with your kid 🙌
Knocked out a front tooth & had a grey tooth for a couple years in highschool after skating in the rain. For one year of skating these guys are killing it.
I barely started skateboarding at 26, it’s never to late ❤
I'm 21 and want to learn to skate. I bought a board when I was like sixteen but never even managed to do an ollie, when I go back home on Spring break next week going to pick up my board and bring it back to school with me.

Good luck. Also getting back into skateboarding after never really using my own.
Little dude is cracked
As a beginner skateboarder they should never be called a poser, cause it's disrespectful
i really like her progression the first skater's, she didn't rush into anything amd the one she did rush into she ignores and focused on other tricks
man i rly need this. dose too big length on a skateboard can make for me to learn harder? because im a short guy and it looks like its way harder
ive been on a board consistently for almost a month now and im doing varial heels and boardslides. ive even landed a fakie varial heel. what do i do now. i feel like im learning a lot very fast but im also not landing everything consistently.
You should watch videos of Waxhaw NC Skatepark
That 1st girl is super aware of her own ability she'll deffo go places
It's been two weeks of skateboarding and sometimes i do Ollie ( I don't go up much ) and sometimes no, it is okay?

How did she progress so fast .. this must be what Watching u tube as a kid and having all the channels teaching skills dose
0:44 bro was violating braille with that one 💀
Bro I started skating on 1 of them Walmart boards so when I saw braille absolutely rip it apart I bought a birdhouse board for around 70 dollars and I’m back at step 1 in regards to my progression😂😂.
Lil Wayne got into skating in his late 20s. If one of the biggest rap stars on the world could get into the sport at that age without being self-conscious then any nobody like YOU doesn't have an excuse if they want to get started. I suck at skating, but have recently gotten into it again at age 22. For me, I just want a fun way to stay in shape. I dont care about how stupid I look, I just care about leveling up everyday. I don't like going to the gym and find the sport a good way to build muscle while also having fun, being creative, getting invovled in a community and culture, and adventuring. It's a very healthy activity to involve yourself in at any age. No geniune skater will judge you for your skill or lack thereof, they just care about you loving the sport and having the courageous spirit to try new things and level-up. That's what being a skater is all about.
Hey Ricky im a 24 year old who is from Queensland Australia i would like to learn how to skate board im really shy with people looking at me afraid of going out side im a pc gamer that doesn't like to go anywhere lazy my dad even said go outside do you have any tips for the situation im in ??? I have a bought a setup,8.0 deck crux truck's rainbow dgk wheels and shake junt grip tape 😊😊
Im 14 and have been skating for 6 days and today i landed my first kick flip,is this a fast progression(I skated for 4 months when i was 10 and i skated very inconsistently with months of gaps between standing on my board i couldnt even ollie up a curb so i really only progressed now)?
Learning at 26, knowing how much of a perfectionist I am This helped my motivation
Woow i knew the time i crawled on to a 1.5 m quarter when i was five year old and just droped it without any problem or any help was crazy ngl
i learned my first tre flip on flat because I was scared to do it of a drop and to be ohnes I didn't have a drop
Steezy Braden is eating his vitamins bruh, that's a bizarre progression
ive been skating for 7 months now im getting closer to tre flips and i just keep primo or fail my tre's and i wanna do what you said try it of a curb been skating since 12yr now im 13
5 months and just did my first drop in two days ago!
Seeing the girl taking a really long time to start on her kickflips is starting to make me wonder if I’m going too fast. I’m on month 2 and I’m practicing Ollie and kickflip and shuv it so far I can only do ollie. I’ve also gotta a bunch of sore spots from smacking myself while skating
I have been skating since I've been about 20 and I am just about to learn heelflips at 35 lol, I aint great but I got a bag of other tricks.
Agathe inspired me to start
Can't believe The adult did a bs-180 and landed on the nose and didn't loop out.
i remember almost fainting when i landed my first flip trick. I couldn't believe that I've done it I thought I was dreaming
I remember my first shuv it. I immediately yelled a word that rhymes with luck because I broke my phone in the process.
ive been skating for six months and idk how to kickflip but i can do variel flips idk if its good or not but idk
Mabey I should start skating

Hey Ricky ca. you watch my progression that I posted like 2 years ago . I’ve been skating rarely now because I’m in high school and I moved away from people I skated with a lot so I would feel very motivated again if you reacted to it. Even tho I just laying in bed all the time than going out skating like before.
Ricky you should react Isaiah photo kickflip video it a great video
The first girl doing an amazing Ollie after 3 months Me who after 3 years can only do a hippie
With the second kid he stated to wear baggy pants
I have been skating for two years and can’t Ollie but I can 360 shuv
Well im almost old enough to start skating so ill probally make a skate proggersion video
I bought my first board 5 years ago, 5 years later I was able to do a kickflip. These mfers are little Einsteins in comparison
Jokes on you I’ve been skating since i was like 9 and now im fourteen and still don’t know how to kick flip. I do feel like if I committed to skating in my later years i would’ve done better 😂
