1 Teaspoon Cleans Out Fat in Your Liver | Dr. Mandell

Fatty liver disease means that you have fat deposits inside your liver. These deposits may keep your liver from doing a good job of removing toxins from your blood.
Obesity is the most common cause. Obesity in the U.S. has doubled in the last decade, and health care providers are seeing a steady rise in fatty liver disease. Although children and young adults can get fatty liver disease, it is most common in middle age.
The major functions of the liver include:
-Bile production: Bile helps the small intestine break down and absorb fats, cholesterol, and some vitamins. Bile consists of bile salts, cholesterol, bilirubin, electrolytes, and water.
-Absorbing and metabolizing bilirubin: Bilirubin is formed by the breakdown of hemoglobin. The iron released from hemoglobin is stored in the liver or bone marrow and used to make the next generation of blood cells.
-Supporting blood clots: Vitamin K is necessary for the creation of certain coagulants that help clot the blood. Bile is essential for vitamin K absorption and is created in the liver. If the liver does not produce enough bile, clotting factors cannot be produced.
-Fat metabolization: Bile breaks down fats and makes them easier to digest.
-Metabolizing carbohydrates: Carbohydrates are stored in the liver, where they are broken down into glucose and siphoned into the bloodstream to maintain normal glucose levels. They are stored as glycogen and released whenever a quick burst of energy is needed.
-Vitamin and mineral storage: The liver stores vitamins A, D, E, K, and B12. It keeps significant amounts of these vitamins stored. In some cases, several years’ worth of vitamins is held as a backup. The liver stores iron from hemoglobin in the form of ferritin, ready to make new red blood cells. The liver also stores and releases copper.
-Helps metabolize proteins: Bile helps break down proteins for digestion.
-Filters the blood: The liver filters and removes compounds from the body, including hormones, such as estrogen and aldosterone, and compounds from outside the body, including alcohol and other drugs.
-Immunological function: The liver is part of the mononuclear phagocyte system. It contains high numbers of Kupffer cells that are involved in immune activity. These cells destroy any disease-causing agents that might enter the liver through the gut.
-Production of albumin: Albumin is the most common protein in blood
serum. It transports fatty acids and steroid hormones to help maintain the correct pressure and prevent the leaking of blood vessels.
-Synthesis of angiotensinogen: This hormone raises blood pressure by narrowing the blood vessels when alerted by production of an enzyme called renin in the kidneys.

May I offer some information? Alcoholism is a sugar addiction. Sugar addictions are due to lowered Serotonin and lack of sunlight. If you want to beat this, instead of fighting it with will power, try the following: 1. Serotonin is made in the gut by your friendly gut bacteria. Put probiotics back in there. See Dr Berg's video on when to take them. He has a good product too, but any reputable brand is safe. Take probiotics after a meal so stomach acid does not destroy it. This will increase your serotonin (feel good) chemicals. You can also take L-Tryptophan 500 mg - 1000 mg at night to boost serotonin levels. Do not take 5-HTP. Do not take Tryptophan if you are on any anti-depressant meds. Low serotonin levels will make you crave starchy foods and sugars as well. 2. Lack of Vit D3 leads to mild depression and craving starches and sugars as well. Take 15,000 - 20,000 IU of Vit D3 every day/night to boost your metabolism and remove depression. 3. Get sunlight - the harsh kind at noon - UV-B, and the slanted golden kind in late afternoon or morning - Infra Red Light. Both are essential for your body and brain. 4. Exercise!!!! Boosts everything, and gives you endorphins which make you not crave anything. 5. Sleep early and enough. Lack of sleep gives you sugar cravings, you eat too much, you feel down, low energy. 6. Take Glutamine powder 1 scoop mixed in water or juice or protein drink directly after workouts. It will boost muscle growth and eliminate sugar cravings. Especially good for alcoholics. 7. Take Vit B1 in fat soluble form - Thiamine. Take it in the form of Benfotiamine or Sulbutiamine 200 mg during the day. Helps metabolize fat from sugar and good for alcoholics or diabetics.

I was about 10% overweight about 25 years ago. My doc had given me a script for foot fungus that worked great, but I needed a refill. He wisely said he needed to check my liver function. The test showed I had an ENLARGED liver, and that I needed to be concerned about cirrhosis. Not being a drinker, I was not too concerned, not fully understanding about things like NAFLD and NASH. Fast forward about 20 years. Through a fairly long, difficult process I found myself in hospital, waking from a 4 day coma brought on by acute liver failure. A few weeks and almost $700,000 later I had a “new to me” liver. Now, I cannot use turmeric because it interferes with my anti- rejection medicine. IF YOU ARE OVERWEIGHT, SAVE YOURSELF A LOT OF MISERY AND LIFE COMPLICATION! Do ANY and EVERY thing possible to avoid liver failure!

Tumeric tastes yummy on sweet potatoes instead of brown sugary type seasonings. Or McCormick 's basic curry seasoning with additional tumeric is yummy. For a medium to large sweet potato you only need about 1/4 teaspoon and fresh cracked black pepper ( olive oil and or grass fed butter, optional). No other seasoning including no salt needed.

You need to set your garlic out 5 to 10 minutes before taking...you can also use minced garlic. I walk a mile a day and I've also been off my BP meds for months. So all this combined worked for me! Because in my big spice jar I put the bulk garam masala..then I get my curry powder too and I have a mixed jar of both of em, the curry powder is lots more golden.. yellowish. While the Garam masala is darker. I believe it contains most ayurvedic spices like clove , cinnamon Black pepper, maybe even turmeric too. 🤔 Having just googled it I see that curry powder is another name for Garam masala. But the 2 kinds of stuff I buy at sprouts mrkt. In San Diego are quite a contrast in color.

I take 2 capsules of turmeric and Pepperdine everyday. That way I am sure I am getting my daily dose. I bought this at Amazon. I don’t remember the cost. I am disabled and feel sick all of the time. I have ME/CFS, Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I am trying anything to help with my symptoms. It seems that I am getting worse every year. Some people end up on bed bound and on feeding tubes. I hope I am not one of them. Doctor, would you please share some wisdom on how to combat this disease? You might recognize it it by its former name, Fibromyalgia/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. This diagnosis was blown off for years as a psychosomatic disease. Since doctors couldn’t find a cause, they thought victims were just making it up. Now, they have found that the victims have real changes in their brains. They have less white and grey tissue in different parts of the brain. There is also a change in their muscle energy systems at the cellular level. Energy system is blocked causing fatigue. Debbie
