I know this video was posted a while ago but I need a little clarity on something. I know he keeps pressing 3 on the models to keep them in a smoothed mesh preview mode, but does I dont ever see him actually smooth them. Does he just keep them in the previewed mode and that works? it wont render in the previewed mode like that right? any clarity would be super helpful thanks!

Tip: Reduce the transparency of the polygon mesh in the Attribut Editor under the standardSurface1 tab (all the way to the right), under the Tranmission subcategory, and change the Weight value to around 0.45, so you can see better the image on both planes.

One tip I found whilst modelling a guitar in Maya, and using this video for reference - when creating the strings using a CV curve tool at 32:07 , I found the default curve settings were creating some unwanted shapes when snapping the curve to my bridge and nut, and found changing the CV curve settings did the trick, which the video doesn't seem to show. All I changed which worked for me was the '3 Cubic' setting to '1 Linear', which gave my curve the linearity it needed to create a string shape. Hope this helps :)

How do you smooth the guitar strings? The mesh > smooth only works for poly surfaces not for the nurbs extruded surfaces. And the way it is right now if I don't unsmooth it the strings go into the fret board. Please help. It would actually be helpful if there was a way to convert it to polysurface since just hitting modify>convert>nurbs to polygons completely botches the geometry I am unable to export the strings to substance painter.
