1. Hut | Modeling a Hut in Maya | Tutorial 1| Making 3D Scene Step by Step

This is a step-by-step Modeling tutorial of a Hut in Maya. This video is a part of making a 3D scene using Maya- ZBrush- Substance Painter. In this series I am showing the entire pipeline in detail Modeling-Unwrapping-Texturing-Rendering. If you go through the entire series I am quite sure that you will be able to make a 3D scene and your understanding will be strong. Only I am assuming you know the basic interface of Maya.

For those that got lost at around 21:10 rooftop part, once you press ctrl+g just take out the main base rooftop you used to model the entire thing out from the group, then use it as a parent.

found answer to mirror tool for making roofline tiles. shift + RMB brings up mirror button on shortcuts menu. then it brings up a box that gives more options such as cut geometry, axis position, offset etc. i clicked Offset and changed it from 0 to -1. it created a mirror of the roofline but didnt snap on like a V. it was further apart. however when i moved it close to the other side it automatically snapped into position :) yay! wish it worked like this video shows automatically making an inverted V but whatever it works and i can finish this model. Hope it helps anyone else who gets stuck on that part.

Mesh > Smooth Tool Settings (the box to the right of "Smooth"). Under "Exponential Controls" click the "OpenSubdiv Catmull-Clark" option, under "OpenSubdiv Catmull-Clark > Vertex Boundary" click "Sharp edges", under "OpenSubdiv Catmull-Clark > UV Boundary Smooth" click "None", and then click "Apply". @@letterborneVods the way he uses/prethinks about what he is making for instance he was making roof panels and for those he needed loop cuts which he did all by hand even though u can way easier use the bevel tool to add loops

@@letterborneVods also the fact he uses the drop-down menus on top of his screen instead of using shortcuts and his RMB you can find most of your tools using shift+RMB and if you can't find it in that menu you can press and hold your space-bar for all the other menus those kind of shortcuts make your workflow so so so much faster

Hello! I'm a Japanese viewer 💓 Thank you for the wonderful video! The question is, is it possible to put my work based on this video in my portfolio? Of course, I will specify your credit! The portfolio is what you show to the company. I'm sorry if my English is bad 🙇‍♂️

For texturing we need a surface to paint. You can't paint on the models directly. So can assume the UVs as the canvas to paint. If it is crumpled you can't paint on it properly. So we do UV unwrapping.
