Ugh.... Today, July 9th,2024, I am on episode 14... So many people have suggested it, and said "as long as you make it through season 1,youre over the hill, and it'll be better" and that sound like a rather hard sell.

She went out like the smug Karen she is. She flew into a trap that neither she nor Raynera had even considered, then she flew over the only place Vhagar could possibly hide, the castle. She wasn't very smart nor was she even close to being a warrior and definitely was no match for a man like Aemond.

Guys, Rhaenys has to try and get Vaghar, because she can’t abandon the people below and if she doesn’t get Vaghar, her grandchildren will have to face Vaghar.
Daemon can tell that what he is experiencing is not reality, it feels real and it confuses him, but when he cut Rhaenyra’s head, he knew it is not her. 🙄

Yes and it's not even close. Aemond is the smartest and most compelling character and a perfect match for the absolutely magnificent Vhagar.
They're doing the same thing as the end of GOT. Cool epic fights does not equal good writing! It makes absolutely no sense why Rhaenys turned around. She literally suicided for no reason AFTER the King fell from the sky with his dragon. That was a win she could have easily just left. But no they literally just wanted a cool fight for her to die. wth kinda snse does that make. And I bet they either had a better explanation for her death in the books, or they just don't describe how she dies. sigh.. Don't get me wrong. Same as with the end of GOT i'm still gonna watch for all the cool epic stuff and SOME good character writing but it just seems lazy

because she dies in the books. they are following that. What do u mean by bad writing? haha. Read the books. It is a trap to kill one of the Black's dragon. she dies a dragon rider's death, that's what it is. it is the most honorable way for her.
Its a 2v1 in the books, there was never a moment she could've ran out of it as shown in the tv series, that being said, i think i understant her thought procces here, she took aegon and his dragon out of the picture for a long time, fuck, she might even thought he was dead for good, and seeing Aemond and Vhagar on the field, she saw the opportunity to end it all right there, without a king and their best weapon, greens would have been done, she took the bullet and die for it.
Why would she leave if vhagar was still alive to burn the rest of rooks rest? The goal was to defend the castle at the end of the day.

Rhaenys decided to stay because she knew that once she fled, Aemond would burn Harrenhal quickly, plus the fact that there was no guarantee that Aemond would let her fly away easily. Might as well fight all the way.
I do wish she burned more of the actual army though
I think that Rhaenys hoped that Meleys would inflict some injuries that could keep Vhagar out of combat for awhile, fearing that otherwise, the great dragon and her rider would be a huge danger to Rhaenys' grand-daughters and husband and many others. Plus, Rhaenys had promised her queen that she would fight; not that she would and fly away when things became dangerous.

Meleys is the fastest dragon in the world; and Vhagar is rather slow; Rhaenys and Meleys could have escaped.
It must be taken into account that Rhaenys no longer had a place in the succession of House Velaryon, it makes sense that she preferred to die fighting.

in the books rhaenys fights a 2v1 with sunfyre and vaghar. literally here sunfyre while fighting with meleys came vaghar to burn him the 2vs 1 here was against sunfyre. on top of that both sunfyre and aegon are going to continue living wtf. it was a good episode but they took the glory away from rhaenys to give it to aemond.
I dont mind the changes. They are clearly trying to show the difference the relationships brothers can have based on their actions. Daemon would never harm his brother physically, yeah he would disobey but would never raise a hand or try and bring harm upon his brother. And thats cause he had something to respect and love in Viserys, cause Viserys was more well studied then him and Viserys always took up for him and truly loved him. Whilst Aegon is a drunk and fool who has done nothing but bully aemond most his life, so aemond has no love nor respect for his brother. He is weaker in every way.
@@ProperlyGaming they made aemond stupid his team has less dragons. he thinks he is invincible when he is not his ego is going to do his doom. aegon did not want to be king definitely his villain arc is after this. we know he and his dragon are still alive and have more battles.

You're misunderstanding the books which are written as a collection of accounts from different historians/maesters based on witness testimony and hear-say. They aren't a 'this is definitely how events happened'. The outcomes will be the same, but the events leading up to them are going to be different.

the best part was the strategies of every dragon based on experience. it's such a nice detail because you get to see the experience of each dragon and rider.
The changes from book to show can always be attributed to the fact that the book is based off of was told from the perspective of a third-party it’s supposed to be like the history of the Targaryen unlike a book that’s just telling a story so in the books Rhaenys fights both 2v1 but the show can interpret it as it was never two on one Aemond originally takes out Aegon and Rhaenys was never as good but because historian wouldn’t assume Aemond takes out Sunfyre it’s appears Rhaenys takes down 1 of the dragons but eventually loses to the numbers game

Writing wise, battle of the bastard was cheap and deeply flawed. The army teleportations and Jon's plot armor was freaking ridiculous😂 only saved by the great cinematography
@@Targussysussy i was more emotionally invested in the botb and it had much more significance than rooks rest. Not trying to discredit the significance this battle had but the whole north was at stake for the botb
@@isiahfedit’s just the the writing in rooks rest is so much damn better. Aemonds plan to make Aegon feel impotent and useless so he could ambush his brother AND whatever dragon rider team black sends was incredible to watch. Every tactic and silent bit of character writing felt fantastic. Botb has Sansa saving the day even though she neglected to tell Jon about the reinforcments from the viel, it has Jon as our main POV character in the battle, and Jon was an unkillable zombie at that point anyway so who cared if he died there, Melisandre had that shit on lock since the resurrection rules in the show version were so lax and meaningless. Rickon doesn’t zig or zag at all so Ramsey can kill him. And to top it off Ramsey gets killed without Theon being involved at all, but instead Sansa, who just wasn’t as satisfying to see kill him. This battle was the first huge action set piece in the entire series. 13 solid hours of buildup to 30 minutes of perfect payoff. And the season is only half over.

not only that but meleys was alyssa targaryen's dragon as well, whose husband baelon targaryen rode vhagar, like, there's a bunch of history between these dragons

I was absolutely blown away by this episode. Rhaenys died a dragon rider's death like her daughter wanted and Melys went out fighting. RIP to the queen that should have been. Absolutely blown away by this episode. (Yep, I said it twice lol)

It’s like this show isn’t even trying to tell a story anymore. Just arrange scene after scene of nonsense which exists only, solely to see how gross and supposedly shocking they can be. Don’t think I’ve ever seen a show fall off so hard, so fast. This episode was borderline unwatchable.
Wasn't the boys always like that? I mean, go back and watch the start of the show. The show is slow now cause season 4 isn't meant to finish any story, it will most likely end with a build up to season 5, which is really the end
@@gabrielpatrick2051 there was always violence and a lot of it was gratuitous. But there almost always was a narrative function for most of it, and the show still felt like it was trying to tell a real story about real characters. Ever since about halfway through season 3, it’s started to feel less and less like that was the case, and this season so far has been like 90% nonsense resembling the final season of Game of Thrones, where they’re constantly making the most melodramatic narrative choices possible regardless of whether they make sense or feel earned. Even if they’re undoing years of character development. It’s so damned bad

@@cooldude2027 Yeah and that whole storyline (Kimiko’s too) is just nonsense. Two and a half seasons’ worth of character development and an arc just thrown out with the bath water. It seems like the showrunners realized they don’t have 5 season plans for either character and so they just dismantled their stories offscreen to set them back artificially and let them build back up to more or less the point they were at previously by the end of the show. It’s really, really bad, dude.
Also, the pulp and viscera (the “gross stuff”) for the most part isn’t anything we didn’t see worse of in Eli Roth movies 20 years ago. I am constantly amazed at what people find shocking, to be honest. It’s pretty tame. Like, the sex dungeon stuff in this episode felt like it was written by a puritan.

@cooldude2027 We had enough of that way back in season 1 when he found out about his son and killed that volgeborm or whatever his name was, we didn't see that but we did see him zap stillwell in the eyes which in many ways was more graphic than that whole episode and his only zapped just enough to burn into her skull and not all the way through and wanted her to feel it imo It was a wasted episode that went nowhere, had no pay off and won't ever be mentioned about again in the series I doubt.

Secondly, it sounds like you don’t even care about the story or anything, you just care about the gore and depravity, which is fine, I get that, but a lot of us want a story too. Which this series provides, but if you just want the graphic stuff stick to the comic.
@cooldude2027 How do you people take a comment and agree with it and yet somehow argue with it at the same time? You brought up episode 4, I said the story had already been told, didn't progress it any further. The reason i said that is because i do care about the story and so many plot points in the first 5 episode either come from nowhere or will lead nowhere and the gore from episode 4 was not needed and was the only high point of the episode, again, because the story had already been told and nothing else happened.
I have enjoyed all of sn4 so far. Its been a fun ride.
