    I think you should give it one more go, but this time not a circular puzzle, and with a brand that’s not known for false fits. Still a very small puzzle, but the normal square or rectangle shape. I think it’d be a bit easier. You could sort by piece shapes and use the knobs to help you. You did great, though

    Thanks! I think I’m done with this challenge though. And based on my own experience I highly doubt that more regular size would be easier (for me) Maybe if less than 25 pieces… because at least with this one I knew if the piece goes to the outer, second, third or middle circle by the size. 😄

    Congratulations for completing this crazy challenge! 🎉 It looks so hard, yet I kinda want to try it out. 😅 I'll have to see if I can find a suitable puzzle... Intuitively I think I would have done some things the same and some different than you. Also I realized while watching that one way to detect the edge pieces in a circular puzzle (where you suspect there might be other "straight" edges) could be trying them against the table. That way you could at least tell what way the "straight" edge is curving.

  • @puzzlewithemilia
    @puzzlewithemilia3 күн бұрын

    Ahhhhhh that’s true. It didn’y occur to me to use the table that way. What I did realise after some time was to pile all the pieces I have tried (instead of having them separately) and in the end I changed that I didn’t try one piece everywhere but I chose one spot and tried all pieces to it. However, I should have keep a count how many pieces I have left. I only changed this latter strategy when I had aeound 13 pieces left. I should have changed to it at latest at 20 pieces. But I had no idea how many where there 😅 It looked so different when I saw this video afterwards.

    I really enjoy you analyzing stuff ... keep it up. I’ve decided Alejandro is a perfect example of actual multitasking which very few people can really do. It’s so interesting watching the fastest puzzlers.

  • @puzzlewithemilia
    @puzzlewithemilia10 күн бұрын

    I forgot to mention in a video (my bad 🙈) but I also saw Alejandro putting two pieces in at the same time. It seems like he first looks place for two pieces and then places them simultaneously (on the same area and with same hand movement). I think it makes sense in a way that it reduces hand and eye movement. I have the exact moment in my notes. I can comment it here later so you all can go watch from the livestream what I mean! It’s a bit tricky to explain clearly. 😊

  • @tvmom

    @@puzzlewithemilia It is absolutely riveting to watch him. I have never seen someone actually multitask in real time. People think they are multitasking, but they are generally just switch between tasks quickly. You can almost see his mind working.

  • @puzzlewithemilia
    @puzzlewithemilia9 күн бұрын

    @@tvmom That’s true. Multitasking isn’t really a thing (scientifically speaking). That’s why I also like to follow puzzlers eye movements and try to ”see” what are the focusing on and when and how to switch between things.

    And there is the research we all know that if it’s others, we blame it on ”internal” reasons, BUT if it’s us, we blame external reasons. And even funnier is that even being aware this thinking error, we still tend to do it. So it’s really a struggle to try to focus on the things we can affect on. I have tried that when I get these thoughts, at least I won’t give them more power by saying them out loud. 😊

    I agree with you about already published puzzles in the championships….obviously the people who can afford to buy all the puzzles and do them ahead of time will have an advantage…and I think having unpublished puzzles can level the playing field a little. Of course in every sport or game, the people who can afford the higher quality coaches, equipment, etc have a larger advantage….but especially since this is open to the public to try, any attempt at avoiding an advantage would be better. I also think your counter setup is more comfortable than leaning over a table like in the competitions..I think having higher tables would be easier on the competitors and people would probably be faster due to less back pain and fatigue from leaning. I think you’re on to something there…now if only puzzle competitions would raise their tables!

  • @puzzlewithemilia
    @puzzlewithemilia9 күн бұрын

    That’s true. Actually why I know about is because when I played sports in National Team back in time, I didn’t have money to pay for it so I seeked for sponsors. I would have not been able to play otherwise. (Nowadays, I work in marketing so I do sponsorship deals from the business side). And even with puzzles, in some countries only 5xRavenburger puzzles can cost 100€. That’s not small money for all. And the table issue is another story. For me, it doesn’t affect my time. I also do puzzles on my kitchen table. Kitchen counter is definitely better for back pain (doesn’t really help me as feet pain is bigger issue for me nowadays). On the lower table I actually see the pieces better. But this is so individual how it affects. Maybe somewhere in the future this sports can afford those electronic tables that you can adjust 🤣 not sure what would be the rules for that though.

    Was extremely busy last weekend but finally found time to catch up. Great analysis on Kristin and its very obvious you, like most people, have a ton of respect for her and are just trying to learn from the best! I can understand how you might have been a little disappointed with the results but on the other hand, if you keep in mind how recent you started puzzling compared to some people doing puzzles their whole life, you might actually be one of the best puzzlers out there!
