The Dieku Podcast is my chance to showcase designer success stories so others can learn from them. It's also a platform for sharing the games by new designers that could use a little boost!

Is there a discord , facebook or some other boards to discuss this game? I have a lot of questions.
I have had the honor of being able to draw for magazines dedicated to Doc Savage. Here from Chile I thank you for the video and I leave you a link to one of my illustrations www.tebeosfera.com/T3content/img/T3_muestras/T3_autores/j/l/m_diaz_castro_cristian_eric_6383jl.jpg
Absolute legend!
I'd love to see a massive GM adventure generator system section to create a world, npcs, monsters, HQ, situation generator, gadgets, factions to support long term campaign play. Sort of a ghostbusters version of Knave 2e? Maybe solo rules?
Been playing D&D (red box and beyond) for 40 years. With the latest changes to 5.5e, I now simply struggle to follow the game to where it wants to go, seemingly intent on destroying fundamental concepts that I consider sacrosanct to the game. So, finally, I’m looking for a new hobby home and fell into Forbidden Lands. However, desiring to play with my teenage girls, I’ve been looking for a simpler OSR game and Knave 2e couldn’t have arrived at a better time. Thank you Ben Milton for creating it.
I’m really enjoying the Savage Worlds game mechanics ❤
I’m so bummed I missed out on the KS (busy moving house distracted me).
Perchance is a really handy website.
Jason! I finally see your face. I'm not going to lie, you do not look like I imagined. Don't take that the wrong way. You look great. Just very different than I pictured. Great insights as always.
On researching it I think I totally confused the Man-Thing record with the cereal box records. I definitely had both a Man-Thing and cereal box records and that’s where the confusion lies, it was a long time ago.
I think I might have mis-remembered the Clash of the Titans... perhaps they were just stickers? www.battlegrip.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/sugarcrispback.jpg
Looking foreward to getting this! And thanks for hosting one of the very best RPG podcasts on the WWW!
Garry you n' Diogo from Old Skull need to interview each other for your respective Shows!!!! Shane Kablooey
Looks great - thanks for the pitch, Scott, I'll check it out (really liking the idea of having some cool chase rules for Mörk Borg). Hope it goes well. Cheers Garry.
Thanks! Things are going great so far.
Shame on you for supporting Ben Milton and Knave 2e. Ben lied to us Kickstarter backers and sold advanced copies of what was supposed to be a Kickstarter exclusive cover at a convention before ANY of the backers got their books. I still don't have mine as of this post. Then he treated us like we were the bad guys for complaining when the exclusive cover was renamed "premium edition." Don't support ANY content creator that lies and then disrespects their backers. Shame on you both!
Normally I would ignore a stupid rant like this, but I need to call you out. Could I not also say shame on you for backing the project? Anyways, don't come on my channel and make dumb accusations.
Thank you so much for having me on your show! I very much appreciate the dialogue!
Thanks for coming on! Looks like a cool game, snd csnt wait to see a book!
32:32 that's what she said moment
I will listen/watch it later, but in the meantime (after minute and 15 seconds in) - I gave this video a thumb up for the awesome cool and professionally made intro. 01:04-01:14, I wonder why ironically enough, it totally feels to me as The game pitch.. and an excellent one.
All credit goes to Scott for making such a cool game!
I just discovered this book, and it is now probably one of my favorite books of all time.
I love Basic Fantasy. It's really the one and only "forever system" I need to run old school campaigns for years on end. There's always a flashy new thing in the OSR scene but BFRPG has real staying power.
Very cool.
Immediate Backing for me!
Dammit, I was going to try to skip backing any Kickstarters this year. Looks like I'm not going to be able to do that now :)
Methinks by watching Garry's channel you were trying to go teetotal by dropping by the pub every couple of days to see your drinking buddies! LOL Know the feeling though. So tricky to stop myself backing just-one-more new creatively awesome piece of wonderful and this does look and sound brilliant.
Wild, here I am, randomly listening to this podcast, walking the streets of a little village called Binstead, on the Isle of Wight! Hello from home, Richard!
I agree that THACO was not used in the 70s in game groups, I started in 78 and we never used it. However, it is listed in the 1E AD&D DMG in the monster charts at the back. Published in 79 but being worked on by at least 77 the term must have been in use, but not used by most at the time.
Wow...an hour-long history of one of the most beautiful, visual-arts-related, cinematic, genres ever-and we get to see two faces talk the whole time? Finally; let's go!
SERVIETSKY___THE MODRONS/ Morons .
As always, Garry, thanks for getting everyone together for the interview. I was already onboard with this but it was very cool to watch everyone chat about these new Mushmen books.
Funny character sheet where Tach0 is an encounter stat !
I will be backing the hell out of this, and nabbing Ragged Hollow while I'm at it. Hats off to Liam, a fellow irishman, an awesome adventure!
Thank you for the video, great conversation. I had a smile that Seth wanted a game that enabled you to play a Replicant in the blade runner universe, and all of a sudden... Blade runner Replicant Kickstarter is announced, coincidence??
It looks very funny ! Obviously not everyone is happy in Oz
I've had one of these lying around the house for ages. Always thought I was missing some extra bits, like some removable guide page or something which had gotten lost. But it was all in the fine print. Sheesh 😂
13:25 for ground growth - characters are changed from their experienced occurrences rather than mechanics
13:46, 13:57 great way of throwing some shade there :-)
15:37 be the author of your own doom
19:09 information, choice, impact - ICI doctrine
What a poser...
I had this as a kid
36:23 - "So you hit a point around 35 or so" Yo... too real dude... too real! 😭😂 1:11:36 - respect 💜 Great interview! Thank yo so much! :D
I’m just obsessed with whatever the origin and material of that Wizards print behind Yochai are.
Kobayashi is a design genius. I always come back to the black sword hack and am amazed at how well designed it is-and how well laid out everything is. I’m excited to see what he does next.
I love the 1930s. The pinnacle of Pulp, leading into Superheroes. The Art Deco aesthetic. The villainy of the Nazis. So many great aspects. Looking forward to your work.
I was on board until yochai was acting like an anti-nazi nazi...
Chris Gonnerman is one of the nicest, best guys in the TTRPG scene. I just love that he provides free entry into our hobby with his material. Thank you for all your hard work over the years and all the good it's done, Chris.
I love the idea of this. The OSR is incredible and has done wonders for simplifying and speeding up the game, but now I'm ready for more. Idk what I mean exactly, but an OSR style 4e D&D with combat options getting some love sounds close to right. I hope Chris's new system is able to scratch some of that itch!
Ace!
Thanks for the video! Excellent interview! Always a treat to hear the insights of Chris Gonnerman.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Another great interview! Thanks for doing these! I backed this on kickstarter, it's probably one of those games I'll never get to run, but from experience, McDowall's books are so good there is always something in them you can use and their inspirational value is HUGE! Planning to mine this for my second Dolmenwood campaign, which I have plans for making very knight-and-faction centric.
Thanks for the kind words! You'll have to let us know how it worked out!
@@DiekuGames Sure! I ran a Dolmenwood campaign for two years, but I'm really eager to get a new one started at some point, but will wait til the books arrive. Running the game with print-outs and whatnot got a little exhausting after a while. . Busy with UVG and Warlock! atm! :)
Noice.
Mr. Gonnerman has done more for my enjoyment of the hobby than anyone else, except perhaps Gary Gygax who was the first to share the idea. Thank you!
Interesting thing about ascending AC, I saw an interview with Zeb Cook where he said they presented it for AD&D 2e, but the higher-ups at TSR didn’t want it (compatibility with 1e).
Love your channel! Great interview and thanks for bringing important creators into the light! This is RPG canon!
Thanks for the kind words, and for watching!
Thank you Chris. Really enjoyed hearing about the origins of Basic Fantasy. I need to get a new copy soon. Of course I have the pdf of everything but I gave my physical copy to my grandson. I really appreciate you putting out a such a great ruleset that anyone can afford.
