If we are not buying bikes at the rate manufacturers expect, it is only common sense they will reduce the costs or offer contributions, chinese or not. We are spoilt and desire the next best thing, like a 16 year old switching girlfriends on a monthly basis. I am not rich, but if my bike depreciated at a large rate after a couple of years, it would only encourage me to keep it longer. We need to stop moaning and see the positive in the situations that arise in life. Whatever happened to just buying a bike to enjoy the experience, not worrying about residual values and cherishing it until it broke down at 100,000 miles, then going to get a new one after 5-10 years? Clearly, these days are gone. The manufacturers smell the money we dont have to spend, taking out bank loans, pcp, hp and know we will make emotional, impulse purchases and it's our own fault. We shagged the market, so stop flipping moaning people, deal with it by making more conscious/sensible decisions and not buying bikes every year to impress your mates. They don't have to live on beans on toast for the rest of the year, you do. I have had a few bikes over the last few years old and new and it's made me realise that I prefer riding older bikes (late 90's early to mid 2000's) as they are still damn good fun and don't break the bank. I don't want to pay over a thousand pounds for a service, that to me is just a p*** take. I can afford it but, I would rather spend my money on other experiences or enjoying multiple bikes, maximising my riding experiences. I wouldn't buy an expensive sports car for the same reason. I stay well within my budget and ride with the widest smiles in the world simply because I just love to ride. Anyway rant over. Lol Keep up the good work and god bless. 👍🏿

Retired expat living in Thailand. Theres s Thai brand mcycle, GPX, here. The motors are made in China, assembled in Tland. GPX also makes (assembles?) Royal Enfield bikes here. I had a GPX 250cc. It was great, no problems. Ive also seen some of those small Keeway bikes. Supposedly ok. Chinese cars popular here. I think their technology and build qiality ok. They have the best EV cars in the world.

What kind of Muppet would drop 10k on a no name Chinese bike. I'd love to see what it's worth in three years.

9:50 it's not as complex as you make it sound, bottom line irregardless of company name it's a Chinese made bike trying to leverage an Italian name, it's that simple 🤷🏻‍♂️ there are quite a few reviews on KZread, just look 👀

*Somebody's trying to convince themselves that Chinese bikes are worth buying.* Not me, but somebody. _I will reiterate:_ purchasing a Chinese-brand product gives money and clout to an authoritarian government. They don't respect quality, liability, or fair practices. Imagine a Chinese brand making low quality products under the Libertatia name and selling these on eBay. There'd be no way to stop them and folks who think cheaper=better won't even consider the originals. (Sorry if it hits close to home.)

Please please please get yourself a test ride on the new multistrada Grand Tour. And let me know when you have stopped smiling.. I bought the 2024 model and picked it up on 1st March. Now over 2238 miles . Use it everyday, I'm 62 next month and I've ride bikes since I was 16. It's the best bike I have ever owned. Try it please.

You can't compare the reliability the Ducati with an airhead 1200GS. The BMW isn't run in until 30K and 150+K isn't unheard of. You can also service it yourself.

I noticed the other day that Mazda are doing 0% interest on the MX-5. Now this is standard offerings in the quiet winter months, certainly not during peak top down driving season. The car and bike markets must be in serious pain to be throwing these bargains about like this. Can’t imagine how this is affecting the used market.

I own a Ducati Scrambler Sxty2, lovely little bike that's just covered 3,250 miles in it's 8 years, I'm a fair weather rider so it may sit for a few weeks or a month in the garage waiting for the right weather but always starts straight away on the button, all I do is change the oil and filter annually, needs no fancy valve adjustments till I think it's over 10k miles so chances are I'll never do it, changing the belts is easy as there's plenty of 'how to do it' videos on KZread and if it should ever get a serious problem then there's always Jim to turn to for help.

regards price drops, it happens - i encountered it in 1999 with the superbikes in the UK - i paid close to 9k for my kawi 7r and 6 weeks later they dropped by 3k (iirc this was all manufacturers for some odd reason, possibly gvt related) - i initially felt cheated and supremely annoyed with the dealer who never mentioned it (of course, they make extra 3k so why would they) but then thought to myself, well there is nothing i can do and it was worth what i paid when i paid, so that is that - sure it sucks hard if you wish to sell the bike a year later but hey that is on you as a buyer - shi7 happens, ride on - as for Chinese bikes, brilliant news for the good manufacturers coming from there and great news for buyers 🙂 CF moto doing a 3k drop says they must really need to sell the sport version as the touring is still over 9k new and the explore is about 12k - i have yet to see bad reports from owners with many of them in high mileage and some i am seeing riding over 15k miles in less than a year trouble free

Regarding BSA pricing drop, there is now no worthwhile profit margin for the dealer, it cant be worth the dealer selling new BSAs unless the manufacturer is giving them an incentive to clear old stock. I’m not surprised that dealers are dropping the franchise.

Freddie, finally took the plunge before my health fails too badly and bought a used 883 sportster, a few reasons why I bought the 883, it is low & light, great as my legs and back are knackered and getting worse. Plenty of grunt for todays rds with all the speed cameras and police cameras. Also because of HOG, plenty of ride outs with like minded people. So glad I took the plunge beofe it is to late. She is a 2004 , so carb model with rubber mount ! perfect ! Love the show every Tuesday , keep up the great work!

Make sure she doesn't have the river did together clutch plate in your clutch and if you do have it replace it so it doesn't bother up your clutch when it lets go. Change the oil and filters regularly in your engine will last 25 years like mine. Sportsters are a great bike.

I still go out on the bike whenever I can though and all through winter just suck it up best as can 😂I love to go out and feel so much better after a ride but a bit of sun would be nice !

There's also Moto Morini, previously Italian, now owned by the Chinese Znen Group. After being resurrected as a Chinese company, they had a few v-twin models, strangely similar to Ducatis, specially Monsters, but also based on their Italian heritage models. Now they seem to only have a parallel twin line-up with bagger, cruiser and adventure bikes.

Hello Freddie, Amazing episode as always ! I have been following you for couple of years now and finally decided to get my motorcycle license thanks to you. I am now looking for my first purchase (A2 licence so max 47 horsepower bike or bridled bike). I’d like some advice from you and the community on this, with the current state of the market : is it better to look for a brand new bike and invest more money in it (like the new speed 400, eliminator 500 or RE interceptor) or look at used cheaper bikes from early 2000 (to keep with all those low emission zone) with the risk of Having troubles with reliability/maintenance ? Have a nice day/evening all Etienne from France
