Can you believe Freddie, I sold my 212bhp ZZR 1400 which could do 98mph in first gear with a top speed of 212mph. And bought a royal Enfield 350 classic after watching your review in Lithuania. 1 year on and I'm still loving the little bike. I'm glad I experienced the 1400 Ninja but I'm also glad it's gone! The little Enfield has a de-cat pipe with stage 2 tune air filter and sits at 70 two up on the motorway, nothing else to give granted. But the attention it gets is incredible. 👍

Hi Freddie you were talking to us about these hyper bikes or sports tourers and the speeds they can travel. I found a Kawasaki ZZR1100 about 1990 and it was only £1500 in good condition and selling because he’s bought a new bike. Baring in mind the ZZR was the fastest ever production bike up until 1996. I must admit very tempting

Freddie. Quite by chance I've had my bike coated at Supremecoat at Dronfield. They are fairly local to me. Money well spent. The bike looks like new and its 6 years old and i never worry about using it over winter now like i used to. Its really quick and easy to clean too. Like anything not all products are equal and ceramic coatings are the same. Prep is everything and Supremecoat have a very professional and slick operation with amazing results

Freddie, I had my bike ceramic coated at Supremecoat and I was very happy with the service and outcome. I did it in part because I want to use my bike most of the year, it was new 1st March 23 and I purchased a discounted coating while at the adventure bike rider festival last June, I am a bit like you and would rather be riding my bike than cleaning it, therefore although it was less than 6 months old its first couple of months were mainly raining with some snow and it lived outdoors so it was not pristine when they did the work. I was very pleased with the bike on collection and I am still happy with it 7 months later, it still looks good and all i have done is give the screen a spritz and wipe over to clear it of bugs. Not sure how it will be in 7 years but hey ask again in 2031

Hi Freddie, Prior to the first lockdown in India, I ordered a DIY ceramic coating kit for next to nothing (22 quid) and it was the perfect time to get to grips with it. Having first beta tested my skills with it on my mum’s car, I then coated my car and my Royal Enfield Interceptor. Needless to say, I think it proved its worth as when I met other owners with silver interceptors, their tanks seemed to be way more scuffed and scratched up. I think it is well worth it, (especially if you DIY it) and it lasted my for all of the 2 years I owned that motorcycle. Cheers!

If people are really interested in ceramic coating but would prefer to do it themselves, to save a few pounds and as a diy project, Dell from Dellboy's Garage has made a video about it. Small disclaimer, it promotes the product. He was pleased with the experience, but he admits that the price for a professional service is justifiable considering the amount of work and talent required.

Yo Freddie, I recently got my good-as-new V7 Stone Centenario ceramic-coated by "The Moto Studio" in East Sussex. My main concern aside from the elements was the road salt on the English roads during the cold season; this protects it and ensures an easy clean should the need arise. Outstanding price and service and my bike continues to look the biz. My father likewise got his 2006 Bonnie done after a thorough valeting and is delighted with the result. To my understanding, I will be getting this done again in about 3 years (as opposed to 10). Great content as always. Thanks

I get all my vehicles ceramic coated and cleaning is a doddle with dirt coming off much easier . It’s even better on a motorcycle as it’s much harder to clean!! But beware, a) it doesn’t solve a rust issue if the finish of your bike is substandard. b) if your vehicle is left open to the elements ie not garaged the coating will not last as long as it’s claimed c) the price you will be quoted depends on the timescale you want the coating to last. Typically 1,3 or 5 years. Having had all my many vehicles coated for the past 5 years I have never found a 10yr product that could actually live up to its claim!! 3 years is about the maximum amount of protection assuming it’s not a garage queen!!! Worth it but with those reservations.

I can assure you Freddy, a professional ceramic coat will make a huge difference. I had my speed triple ceramic coated(professionally) it was a game changer. Far easier to clean and water bounced off, the paint work. So good was it, when I had it painted a few years later. The company said they would never paint a coated bike again! This was due to the difficulty removing the ceramic coat! It WORKS!

Nought to sixty times depend very much on the launch you get and how much you're prepared to abuse the clutch. Assuming the bike is a powerful one (and 200bhp is the norm for top 1-litre sports bikes now) it's all about the rider. On a more sober note, I got my 1250RT ceramic coated, not the bodywork because that usually lasts very well on Beemers, but the engine/gearbox casing, shaft casing, swing-arm, etc. My bikes are garaged but I ride all year, only wash them once a week (at best), and my previous R1200R suffered in the latter areas over the course of a decade. The RT looks good now but only time will tell if the ceramic process is worth it.

I didn’t want to go with a bunch of ‘mates’ as, like you, I prefer to travel at my own speed. Any advice ? The KTM bikes were great - although I did a basic service every night (chain, clean, check oil, check filters) at campsite while Fanny cooked dinner on the fire. The Achilles heal of those KTMs was the fuel filter and I made sure all fuel was filtered before I put it in both bikes with a filter I made in Kenya. Fanny’s starter went in Sudan desert and I wired in a Chinese three wheel tut tut starter and swapped it out again later in Egypt for a proper KTM one. I damaged my rear suspension by rallying and hooliganing in dunes and mountains in Egypt and Jordan and the WP shock was rebuilt in Turkey. As for reliability - I towed a broken down GS650 across the Masia Mara with a tow rope (fuel Pump broken) So, moral of story is look after your bike and it will look after you We did 54,000 Kms in the end and I sold both bikes 3 years later for about 70% of what we paid www.bigbiketrip.net

Japanese bike servicing hasn’t been cheap at main dealers for decades. Honda VFR800 valve clearance check anyone? I was quoted £1,600 by one dealer! They learned from the European brands that customers would cough up £150 for an oil and filter service anyone could do themselves, and that putting service info into the bike’s ECU was a neat way to nag riders back to the dealer for servicing (and threats of no warranty support, despite that being illegal in many locations). BMW has a somewhat undeserved reputation for expensive parts and servicing - none of the major brands are significantly cheaper.

Ceramic coating, I’m a fan of ceramic coating for both bikes and cars, definitely gives good looks, makes it easy to wash and keep clean. However due the bikes exposure to high speed gravel, stones and sand it will fail, leaving metal open to the elements like water and salt, so as a long term solution I’m not convinced. Any guarantee, definitely read the T&C’s.

Hi Freddy, As for the cleaning of my bike's. Iv used a ceramic coating on the tank/bodywork for years & ACF50 on the engines & frames. On my daily Tiger 800 with 60k miles, for example, I treat it with a very deep clean then reapply the ceramic coat & ACF50 the rest every 6 months. I do this myself for peace of mind knowing it's done right. The other bike only comes out on good days, so is much easier to clean. The trick is to start from a baseline with a bike that's clean as possible. Got a corroded part? Get it repaired/replaced asap. Don't wait for the corrosion to build. It's hard to keep on top of with multiple bikes but... It's cheaper to prevent than it is to replace something. Paying someone 100's of £ is mind-boggling to me.

I would seriously recommend a tour of The Isle of Wight when you get your Bonneville back Freddie. A long gentle weekend would allow you to do a full circuit of the island and take in the glory of The Military Road. One of the finest roads in Britain for cliff scenery and pure riding. Chocolate box villages such as Godshill have to be seen to be believed. The roads are excellent and contain every variety of steep hills and long stretches. I moved here in 2018 and every day is a riding and driving holiday. To finish your days having not toured this beautiful place would be a missed opportunity and it is so close too. Even the ferry trip over here is lovely. Just a thought and it would be great for your channel too I think 🙂

I have owned 6 Hayabusa and 2 ZZR1400. I currently run a ZZR1400. I suspect most owners of these bikes do not buy them for the performance figures. I buy them because they are supremely comfy mile-munching machines. For a 300 mile day there is no better bike for me. Obviously on the occasion that you do need the extra power it is there, but if I wanted a true performance bike I would have got an R1, or a Fireblade or ZX10RR and rode along with my knees touching my chin.
