    Place the PS6 after your gain/dirt or as the first effect in the effects loop of your amp and play single notes only. I'm currently working on a "how to make the PS6 sound good" video with other tips as well, please subscribe to my channel so you'll get a notification when it's published.

    Can I use this pedal to just generate a simple fifth up so if I play only one string, for example an open E, it’ll sound like playing an E5?

  • @DIYguitarGuy
    @DIYguitarGuy20 күн бұрын

    You can, but if you only want to use it for that effect, try the T-Rex Quint: it does that but better/faster and also has an octave down and up. So you can play regular 5 chords and really thick ones.

    Hey! Very informative video, but I have a problem. I have a power source Harley Benton iso2 pro, which has 2 outputs with 500 mAh, and 5 with 300 mAh. The problem is when I run the hx stomp with a diy current doubler cable on the two 500 mAh outpus and two analog pedals( sansamp bass driver 25mAh, and a boss oc2 with 4 mAh consumtion) and the power adapter gets very hot. This model of power source is powered with a separate adapter with 12V , 2A. The overall power consumtion of my pedalboard is around 1A, which is half of the capacity of this power source. I tried replace this adapter with another with the same 12V 2A specs and the result was the same, it gets very hot, hotter than it should. Should i make a power quadrupler cable to the four 300mAh outputs to get 1200 mAh for the hx stomp to avoid the heat?

  • @DIYguitarGuy
    @DIYguitarGuyАй бұрын

    Hi, thanks for reaching out. Do you have headphones connected to the Stomp? It might draw more than 1A when using them. You can try the quadrupler, maybe it helps. Power supplies do get warm in general and I think these inexpensive ones don't have cooling as the priority.

    @@DIYguitarGuy wow thanks! So this is the case! I have a jack to headphone jack adaptor constantly connencted to the stomp and I use the hradphone out almost daily. I'm gonna check this today! I'm not an electrician, but I know how to solder and to use the multimeter, but I did not have take in considrration the fact that it could draw more current if I use the headphone out! Thanks again!!!

    This is incredible! Have you heard of the Digitech HarmonyMan? It’s basically an intelligent version of the PS-6. It can do everything the Boss pedal does, but it can also track your chord progression from either another guitarist or a loop pedal, so the harmony is always correct. It can also quickly switch between different harmony settings using presets (which would remove the need for 2 different harmony pedals), and can do 2 harmonies together in any combination of intervals. I’m absolutely blown away by how talented you are with the PS-6, and playing Metallica! 🎸🤘 This video deserves more views, and @Roland @Boss needs to sponsor you.

  • @DIYguitarGuy
    @DIYguitarGuyАй бұрын

    Thanks James! I've heard about the Digitech one and it seems pretty tempting, but I've got a Line6 HX Stomp which has presets and more tweakable settings for harmonies. The PS6 is kind of underrated and misunderstood, people tend to misplace it in the signal chain and don't know how musical keys work. I'm planning to make a "how to make the PS6 sound good"-video in the future.

    Way more fun just running the amp hot but I can see the practicality of this. I know my amp and pedals well and can make it feed or be silent on a whim, I enjoy interacting with the speakers in that way. I do think in certain environments a pedal could work well for people who just want a controlled feedback here and there without the risk of running their amp hot enough to do it naturally. Great for not blowing up FOH accidentally when live, great for bedroom guitar with volume restrictions. I suppose great if you haven't spent much time with high gain amps and always being diligent about how much noise you're creating.

    The idea of having to push a button to create feedback is ridiculous. You could turn up your amp or possibly a company (EHX!) needs to develop a hardware version of SoftTube's Acoustic Feedback plugin. It's simple and responsive allowing feedback on almost any note, anytime at will without even thinking about it. I've suggested this to both EHX and SoftTube btw. Thanks for proving to me these feedback pedals are ridiculous.

    Hi, it's not that hard to build a harmony patch in the Neuro editor, just follow these steps: pick a voice and set it to polyphonic pitch, envelope off, no octave and semitone shifting and instead of a fixed interval, set it to interval + harmony 1. Scroll down to the Harmony section, select your desired key and mode (like major or minor) and set interval 1 to a 3rd or 4th up. Let me know how it works out.

    I fear that the current drawn is much greater when you plug in a headset and turn up the volume. Have you checked?

  • @DIYguitarGuy
    @DIYguitarGuy3 ай бұрын

    I haven't but that could be the case, I don't use the headphone output when it's on my pedalboard. If it does draw too much current from one power output, maybe a separate headphone amp connected to another power output can solve the issue.

    Do you know of any way to test the actual output of each individual output on units such as that Iso? I need to verify my Iso 1. I think it's delivering much less than 450ma at each output. The specs say that each output will output @ max 500; it does not state a *minimum* milliamp output. I cannot power my Dept 10 dual drive with any output of my brand new ISO 1. The unit shuts down within 10 minutes or so. It pulls about 430-440ma. I tested it on my true tone milliamp tester.

    Hi, there are Electric Load devices which will simulate a load wile measuring voltage and amperage. But what I guess in your case is that either device gets too hot and shuts down or there's too much connected to it. Reading the quick start manual it states that it can't exceed 18 Watts in total, so when every output is used they can't draw more than 250 mA each.
