Good morning. I have a Fostex model 80 8trk tape recorder whose RECTIFIER PCB 8251040 100 board is out of service. Can you tell me where and how to get a replacement please? Do you have any? I found some of the same references on ebay but the components are not all the same as those on mine. Are there specific cards for Europe, UK, Usa, Canada etc adapted to the voltage of the countries or, can I order those found on ebay? (no voltage details) I live in France. Thanking you in advance for your response.

Why would you apply thread sealant to the heads screws before adjusting them, that seems to be useless.

Hi thanks for the video. Have a question for you? I just replaced the belt of an old Ferg 3208 like yours. What would it be that stop Rewind and Forward to work? Also, whenever I change speed to lower one, it feels like the motor bit slips up and when trying to engage 3 3/4 speed, doesn't anymore and it goes slow. Do you know what could be the culprit? Thanks! (it was doing this even before I replaced the belt)

Got a bit tiring you slagging it off at every turn. If you think this is built like crap you want to try looking inside a modern cassette player. This is thoroughbred craftsmanship in comparison, and they weren’t at all cheap when new. The cheap models were the likes of Fidelity.

Exactly my thoughts. They were even more expensive than similar Philips models - and way more durable.

Hi, amazing restoration project. I really hope you get to part three after your roof has been fixed. I just acquired a GX-4000D that looks cosmetically fine, transport works but no sound. I hope to pick up a thing or two of the next part. I had a 4000DS mkII in 1987 and a now I got this one. Hope to get it working again.

Thanks for sharing this. It brings back a painful memory: as a teenager in the early 80's my late dad let me have his player (not sure the exact model but looked very similar) and it quickly became my favorite possession. One day the main belt broke. I tried to fix it myself but I remember its architecture comprising metal brackets held together by a multitude of springs and feeling like I just didn't have enough hands to put the brackets together and springs in place. That was the end of it. 😞
@organfairy Жыл бұрын
I have a TK146 like the one in the video (it's not a TK148). There is an easy way to replace the main belt: Do it from the bottom. The capstan rests on a bearing in the bottom that is embedded in a small metal plate. If this is removed both belts can be fed in from the bottom and after putting them around the motor and take-up wheel the bearing can be reattached and that's it.
