    I never got that Jim is a slob - permanently. I got this episode like he was on vacation from his family and didn't want to clean for a few days when he was out. Being a husband and a father, I totally understand him. And when Pam says she expects Daryl to fix gym.... Almost every wife complains about their husbands lack of tidiness in their POV.

    I kinda wanna see Mulverine cover community episodes after the office series ends. Just wanted to throw out this idea for quite some time since we're about 2/3 months away from the finale.

    New here. But former boss randomly informed me that her grandfather was a former Nazi officer who fled to South America and is alive and well living in Israel as a coverted Jewish person. Don't know why anyone would say that to their Jewish employee.

    I know the strangler theories are fun, but the guy they booked is the strangler. The whole “he might be innocent” arc kinda solidifies it. Toby goes to try to prove his innocence and gets strangled by the strangler. It gets kinda old all the theories because they all are absurdly speculative

    Re Michael being Scranton Strangler. We know nothing about his parents or their relationship. And the only thing we know about his childhood is his embarrassing television experience. So that would track... OOPS. I just reviewed. Michael's relationship with his stepfather was one of resentment. And him mom didn't really care about him.

    Maybe I'm talking out of my ass, but the idea that Jim would be all "I guess I'll just go to Philly early" AT ALL when he has two kids under five that he sees maybe half the week seems wild? I could not with Pam, because if my husband announced that, it would not be "maybe we should fight <3" It would be "LET'S FUCKING GO, BITCH." Did the writers just... forget they had kids?

    “ we have evidence that Roy was holding Pam back” Do we? Never forget that this show is told from the perspective of Pam. Everything is framed for Pam to be sympathetic. At this point in the show, we are forced to assume that Roy is just being an asshole. However, if the show was told from Roy’s perspective, we might see things differently. Pam and Roy have been together far longer than Jim and Pam. At this point, they have been together for 10 years. Roy knows that Pam has a tendency to impulsively want to try things that she has no intention on actually following through with. This might be the 10th thing this year that she’s brought up (off camera to Roy) and it’s extremely expensive. Of course he dismisses it because he’s frustrated that she keeps doing this. Maybe the first five times he was supportive. We don’t have any context (but we do see her patterns later). And more importantly, let’s remember that when she was with Jim, he did support her going all the way to New York for art school. They risk their relationship and lots of money. He sternly defended her to his family who thought that what she was doing was silly. He put it all out there to defend her decision and support her…. and what did she do? Dropped out because she failed a test and didn’t like drawing logos... The only difference between Roy and Jim is Roy tried to protect her while Jim tried to support her. But, in both cases, Pam is the reason she doesn’t have an art degree. Is Pam a bad person? Absolutely not. I think Pam is an incredible person. But she is very stubborn and emotional and doesn’t follow through on things. We all have flaws. Those are hers. Let’s not forget she also had one art exhibit before she gave up…she asked Jan about the DM design program and then never followed through… she started all those programs as office admin and we never saw them again…she literally quit Dunder Mifflin to follow Michael Scott Paper Company and then wanted to quit within hours of the first day (she knew Michael was like this…she didn’t even want to try). Look, I don’t “hate” Pam. But, we can all be mature enough to recognize that as beautiful as it is that Jim supports all of her side quests, she (and only she) is the reason they never work out. She’s not a bad person, but, she’s insanely impulsive and it’s unfair to assume that after 10 years, Roy dismissing art school was because he was “mean” as opposed to just being tired of wasting money on impulsive hobbies. Someone had to be realistic, they weren’t exactly rolling in dough.

    Not be a “Pam Hater” as we are often called… But this entire show is told from Pam‘s point of view. Our sympathy is for her because she’s our “friend.” We support her. But, let’s be real, I am not going to shame Roy for saying he “dodged a bullet” by not marrying the woman who literally cheated on him with a guy he knows. Come on. If there was a sitcom about Roy’s life, Pam would absolutely be the villain .

  • @Mulverine
    @MulverineКүн бұрын

    I think that misses the point of why it’s audacious to say that to Jim.

  • @Decapified
    @DecapifiedКүн бұрын

    @@Mulverine no, I get what you’re saying. But to say that Roy owes anything to the guy who his fiancé cheated on him with is a bit of a stretch. Was it’s bit rude? Absolutely. Does Jim *deserve* one rude comment after spending years trying to sleep with this dudes’ fiancé? Yeah … from Roy’s perspective. We are all the villain in someone else’s story. And Jim earned his spot as the villain in Roy’s story I think Roy did his best to bury the hatchet and even congratulated Jim prior to this. But, that one little joke while he was a little tipsy at his wedding I don’t think is a big deal. I would honestly take that on the chin if I was Jim.

    First off thanks for mentioning Andy's hair!! Every time we watch this episode and that scene comes up, my wife pauses it, let's out a heavy sigh, and says to me "Ok let it out about how much his hair bothers you!" (His hair is the worst!) As far as the theme of relationships and conflict, as much as most people don 't like conflict, when needed it does breed results. And finally, Brian is just (as Creed would say) scummy 🤮

    The ideal level of censorship for an adult audience is always zero. People should decide for themselves what they consume. This was obviously a move by Netflix to avoid complaints, but that's not how one should act to become admirable.

    His hair looks like that because he’s been gone on the boat for the last few months… I think you’re confused because he shaved the beard off. He clearly did that in the bathroom with a straight razor. However, he wouldn’t be able to give himself a proper haircut. So he styled his longer hair into his old hairstyle. It’s supposed to be a visual gag, I think.

    I found it really odd that when Pam and Brian were arranging the couples' meet up, Brian didn't bother to mention that he was no longer part of a couple. If they were such good friends that they socialized outside of work, then why wasn't Pam looped in? I guess it's possible that Brian and his partner were trying to work things out and they threw in the towel right before they were supposed to meet up with Pam & Jim.

    Does anyone here remember the “Too Hot for TV” skit from The Daily Show back in 2000? It stars Steve Carell in Victoria - and my uncle. Why? Because my cousin and I pranked him using the “burning log” show. He wrote in to the television provider demanding they take the show down. Somehow that hilarious letter he wrote made it’s way to the Daily Show and Carell. Some of it was shot in or around my cousin’s house - we were young and too afraid to be on the camera too. But we sat in Steve Carell’s lap! Before he was famous 🥹

    What I love about the theory of Pam/Meredith is that if you eliminate the sci-fi part, it's just good writing. The Office never shows too much information about personal lives of its characters, so to show Pam's future, the show reflects her character on another one, and that connection is done by making Pam and Roy the only characters to empathize with Jake, Meredith's son.

    To be fair, David Wallace wasn’t the head of the company in the beginning. This mismanagement that led to the saber buyout would be on the Board and the CEO, not David right? I don’t know, I just feel like David did a good enough job as the new CEO. Either way, amazing video. I look forward to these field guides every time they release, thanks!

  • @henrypeters5291
    @henrypeters52912 күн бұрын

    When David was introduced he was the CFO and the CEO was a guy named Alan that we only saw in "Shareholder Meeting." I get the impression that the writers did not anticipate using David Buckley (David Wallace's actor) as much as they did because a lot of the things he does and says would fall under the purview of a CEO or COO. That said, Chris is right, David was not a good people manager. He hired Ryan, who only worked for the company for two years and never made a sale. He hired Charles who barely lasted a year. He caused Michael to quit which lead to a sales war. And not to mention, he was brought in to financially improve the company but according to Oscar, they just kept wasting money. Now yes, these are anecdotal examples, but these are the only examples we have and they show that except for transferring Holly, David mostly made poor management decisions. The fact is that David was a good CEO after he bought the company because he was hands-off.

  • @jacksonwellons
    @jacksonwellons2 күн бұрын

    @@henrypeters5291 that makes a lot of sense. The writers did put a lot of the blame of these issues on David, especially since he is the CFO yet he made decisions that worsened financial related issues. He became one of my favorite characters during the middle of the show, but once he was hands off towards the end, he just got a bit boring. The definitely did not intend to use him as much as they did, but I think in lieu of adding even more new characters, they used him to resemble “corporate” in nearly every case, except for when Jan/Ryan/Charles would show up.
