lol! i cannot think of a better raw material for hand-forging. After all, these rails were forged from steel engineered to take a pounding!!

The issue of radioisotopes contaminating steel became a notable problem after World War II, particularly due to the extensive atmospheric nuclear testing conducted from the late 1940s to the early 1960s. During these tests, large amounts of radioactive isotopes were released into the atmosphere, which eventually settled on the earth's surface, contaminating raw materials, including iron ore. When this contaminated iron ore was processed into steel, the resulting metal contained trace amounts of radioisotopes. One of the significant problems with radioactive steel is its use in sensitive applications such as medical instruments, scientific equipment, and even in construction, where radiation exposure could pose health risks. This contamination became particularly evident when the radiation levels in some steel products exceeded acceptable limits, necessitating strict regulations and screening processes for steel production. The awareness of radioactive contamination in steel led to the need for "low-background steel" or "pre-World War II steel." This steel, produced before the first nuclear detonations, was free from contamination by anthropogenic radioisotopes and became valuable for applications requiring extremely low levels of radiation background, such as in Geiger counters and other sensitive radiation detection equipment.

Hey man not sure if you will read this saw you was seriously struggling on sharpening this blade I seen but there’s a reason for that I seen in the video you never removed the burr from the blade and if you use a whetstone process you could make it multitudes sharper not sure if you’ve changed your process for sharpening but also i stumbled on this video while doing research on this metal it has a loose grain structure so you would need to make it tighter by going against the norm with this super alloy it’s strong when large but the grain is thicker when it’s large so with a blade it needs to be tighter use some sort of other metal to make the alloy tighter that won’t have a adverse affect on the chemical composition like steel or titanium you could use ferrotitanium to take off slag and detoxifi it and help the process
