i dont think most people would recognise coffee & tv, definitely parklife is recognisable; and imo the most relevant albums are leisure, parklife and modern life is rubbish
Not too sure about coffee & tv tbh, you could be right and not be that recognizable today. Modern life is rubbish has its moments for sure, but 13 definitely on my shortlist
😢😢😢❤❤❤
how very dare you not to like 'Things we do for love' 😱😱😱😱
Well, it’s an alright song! But more of a filler, don’t you think? What would be your favourite?
@@musicchap my faves would be PP, Tension, Things we do for Love, and Somebody to Love.. The skippable ones would be Hands, One more time, and Love Train ,
Well, at least we agree on PP! 😁
Is it just me or is the volume really low 🤔 I get what he's saying about PADAM PADAM title - but it's different, stands out, and padam padam is actually the hooky part of the chorus 🪝
Think it was just me going low voice this time 😆 I get what you mean and indeed it is a differentiating factor, I would have just picked another set of words if I had written it 😉
Seen them live in Paris this week. A truly phenomenal, almost religious experience
@zen_arcade Ah, how lucky! That’s a brilliant description, couldn’t agree more
I totally agree
Definitely not alone in this! :)
Lankum is one of my fave bands. discovered them through their connection to the Santa Cruz , CA band Blackbird Raum. Ian Lynch has a podcast as well and is interactive with his listeners. He even answers emails and listened to a song I had recorded from a revolutionary war era poem. So, also really nice folks.
Ah, does he have a podcast? Will check it out :) Yeah they all seem to be very nice folks and they do interact with listeners and fans quite a lot. Such an amazing band!
@@musicchap Yupper. It's called Fire Draw Near. It's really neat.
@@zfunk56good stuff, thanks much!
They are very much loved and more knowledgeable people see the link between them and older more untutored Irish music. If you have the ear then go listen to the singing style Margaret Barry. You will see the link between her and Radi Peat.
Don’t see much of a link there between the two other than the style and an inherent truthfulness. Radie is a lot more sophisticated in her approach to singing - but the roots to the more unleashed and free Irish music are there, for sure!
Amazing band. Loved you take on the album. Lankum's Radie Peat has an newish album with three other Irish legends in the band Øxn. It's only 6 songs and each one of them amazing. Check out The Wife of Michael Cleary on youtube for a taster. Based on the murder of Bridget Cleary.
Thank you, Michelle! Ah, didn’t know tbh, thanks a lot for the advice! I’ve just added the album to my playlist, will have a listen soon - being that good will surely be reviewing it :)
@@musicchap Well worth it IMO. Radie Peat has such an amazing authentic Irish voice and really captures that Sean nós(old style) singing. Hope you enjoy it.x
Totally did!! SUBLIME! Really good tracks and incredible moments captured there. Some live gigs are coming, will try and see them live. Radie Peat is one of a kind, really. Thanks again for the recommendation👌🏼
I gotta check that out. That sounds so cool!
@@zfunk56please do - let us know what you think 🙂
Amazing band-.Using the traditional for their own means and bringing the songs into a modern age. Can't wait to see them live this summer
Totally, that’s why they sound so fresh. They are brilliant musicians and their creativity is unrivaled - where will you be seeing them in the summer?
@@musicchap in Dublin Royal Hospital Kilmainham
Ah great, will try and see them too, should be around in June
Any good? They are absolutely magnificent! Best band l have heard in years! Up there with there unique sound .llike Joy Division, Radiohead, Godspeed you black emperor! Mogwai in my book..they such a breath of fresh air to my ears... Even though they sound nothing like the bands l mentioned...
Couldn’t agree more! I go by the video description, not the thumbnail in this particular one. I feel the same and really look forward to seeing them live. Undoubtedly one of the best albums of 2023! Thanks for your comment, much appreciated
Excellent review. My album of the year
Thanks a lot! Indeed, one of the very best this year
Great album!!!
Damn right!
