From learning to drift on Assetto Corsa to hitting my first drift events in real life, this channel follows my journey from sim to the real thing. In 2022 I decided to make the jump and purchased a 2007 Nissan 350z. The transition from sim to the real thing was surprisingly easy and within a few laps I was able to start drifting the full track. The drift community has been great and I'd very much like to pay it forward and help anyone else looking to get into drifting for the first time.
I post a wide range of educational content, including:
- Tips to start learning how to drift
- Recommendations for buying a building a drift car
- What to expect when you switch to the real thing
I also post content following my experiences drifting in real life, including:
- My experiences getting into real drifting for the first time
- What I'm learning at each event
- Maybe some track, tire, part, and chassis ratings
- And so on
If any of that sounds interesting, please consider subscribing!

This was really great but now once I go for a line and I get of throttle to straighten out or I’m transitioning my car will completely shift the opposite way and I will spin out is there any way I can help that or fix it
Wish I could have been there 💔
@@OBriMotorsports lol was curious if you'd wind up seeing that.
Great job. Perfect for what I need.
t300rs gt in Brazil is 3x the price of the g29... its 5 months of salary hahaha
Finally got back into drifting with my new setup because of this video. I still have oscillation in transitions though even at 65% ffb in the car settings, do I just need to get good and get used to it? I don't ever see anyone's wheel acting like mine in their drifting videos
great driving! wouldn't mind seeing more runs even if they look samey, also voice overs of what was going on, like how fast the guy infront was or how his line was and how difficult/awesome it was to catch his door, but that might be just the drift nerd in me lol
I was surprised with how much I kept up with the BMW, dudes car clearly had a lot more power and seemed to be better set up. I think the sketchy surface helped keep me more competitive there.
Nice driving, Jank! Love the conga line tandems 😂 the walkie talkie mounts look really good, too, I wouldn't have even known they were 3D printed.
Appreciate it. I've got a handful of 3d printed things in the car at this point, it's super useful.
Great video my friend
Love your videos mate. Will we ever see some exterior stuff for the z?
Honestly one of the struggles in being a small channel is trying to get that kind of footage. I need a camera person lol.
@@JankyDrift rear cam mounted on top of the rear window would be pretty cool to see during tandems
@@taffa4900 last night I bought one of those gopro max 360 cams that people use to get that grand theft auto look behind the car. Will hopefully have it going for one of my next vlogs.
@@JankyDrift hell yeah, looking forward to it!
I strongly agree with the sentiment that it's nonsense to believe that harder = more realistic. Realistic is consistency in representing real world factors. It should be intuitive to someone with real world experience.
I've used logitech dfgt, g27 with brake spring mod, and fanatec v2 base amd h pattern shifter. The fanatec gear better by far, but so long on logitech, idstill use it.
Dis video needs More views i love the end produkt.
You're on point with the cars I like it
I love this this is tight I just now randomly stumbled upon this channel and got excited because I spent a couple of years where I had a very LARGE amount of time drifting on assetto and content manager to the point where i probably shouldnt be proud of it. But you honestly can learn a ton about suspension setups and all the different stuff you can adjust. I was Absolutely clueless to it all. Even just freeballin it through trial and error and then actually seeing a difference in your runs I was like hold up let me do an obsessive amount of research I'm still fully convinced that I will be able to just hop in a drift car and drift
Well I can confirm that it works lol. Hard part is funding a drift project, easy part is moving from sim to real life.
1) Can you share the parts of the drifting simulator you showed on the video? 2) Is it better with a screen or VR headset (like you in the video)? 3) can you share the parts of your drifting simulator and how much would it cost? And maybe some cheaper substitutes (in case yours is very expensive)?
If you check the description of this and most of my other videos I have the list of parts in my sim setup. It's definitely better with VR but either is fine. My sim definitely on the expensive side if you're just starting out, I talk about some recommendations in this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/dXV9xrePn9LfnLQ.htmlfeature=shared

I wanted to be a silly critter and drive around but, all of the recomended "entry" gear combined are over 600 buckaroos 😮
Really depends on what you're trying to get out of it... Just trying to have fun, the cheap logitech stuff is fine. But if you're treating it like a true sim and using it for training, the higher end gear is 100% worth it.
Great video! Thank you for the info and idea!
I’ve just upgraded from a Thrustmaster t500rs and there solid pedals to a moza r12 and srp pedals I’ve not tried it yet as for being on holiday I just hope I’ve made the right decision, the tm500 I got loads of fun with it for over 10years and seemed good at ffb to me will the moza live up to my expectations of it being better with more improvements for the cost of it or have i just made a pricey mistake 🤔 as the saying goes if it ain’t broken why fix it
Make me confuse what I need yo but T-GT II or CSL DD Pro for Forza Horizon 5 and Gran Turismo 7? I not use wheel for drifting but driving like normal and does TH8A support CSL DD Pro?
Does it matter what wheels settings? I’m not sure if I have realistic wheel settings. Is it possible if u can give me wheels settings?
I have videos posted for the t300 and for simagic. Otherwise you'll probably have to look for other tutorials.
@@JankyDrift is it possible if u can give me the link for the 350z?
As a beginner on G920, i could not go more than a corner without siping out. It's a very well made pack overall, but i lack the skill.
Great tutorial
making my first racing sim and any button box would help and you should make a setup vid
Playing on PS5 my options are limited. Basically theres g923 g29 t300 and fanatec dd something pro. The price range is around 300 for Logitech 400 for t300 and 800 for fanatec. I'm leaning most towards t300 due to price and performance. 800 is stretching my budget but if it's worth that much more. Then I'll go with it. Just doesn't seem like it (my first wheel btw)
That's what i look like slapping my keyboard around in VR by the way @0:43
He called out take overs, now im all ears
Bros running assetto Corsa on a potato *no offense*
Got a 3070 my dude. I just also got better shit to do than waste my time playing with assetto graphics filters when I could be out drifting or working on my actual car.
@@JankyDrift yo i said no offense
I am working on mine, and when I plug it into my PC, it comes up as "Generic USB Joystick" But it only shows 3 buttons and no matter what I press, it doesn't respond. Any thoughts?
Where did you get the module from? First thought is maybe you got a dud. Mine shows generic joystick as well but obviously has all 12 buttons available. Reach out to me on discord and I can try to help you further, through the comments is hard.
@@JankyDrift okay... apparently it works now... I just closed my web browser and windows said "Okay I'll work now".... Technology is confusing. LOL
Been using the old school logitech momo for the past 20 yrs with no issues at all. Just Recently upgraded to moza r12.. r12 not a good idea for desk mounting lol
Thanks for spreading the Metric System Gospel!
I ran a t300 for a year have over 1,300 hours on it before it gave in, the cooling fan was completely smoldered to the circuit board the wheel started to bend and i still miss that t300 i switched to a moza r5 but i miss the simplicity when i start up forza 5 i have to remap every button with the r5 or with asseto corsa having constant wheel shakes and having tried mulitply settings and not getting it figured it. I didnt have this problem with my t300 it always just worked i plugged it go to settings check if the wheels connected and go, but the r5 is constantly a big headache the wheel itself feels better but the simplicity from the t300 is something i really miss, just plug in and go.
Yeah for sure - Direct requires a ton more tuning. I regretted switching at first too.
Needs more views and engagement. These DIY projects are just fun and get you thinking about other ways to approach a problem without going "Whatever, I'll just buy another 100 dollar thing and throw out the old one." Usually a DIY project is easier than it seems and nothing beats the satisfaction of using something you built. Just gotta build it.
I've considered doing this a few times before, but didn't want to figure out the USB/controller side of things. This will help if I ever get back to a game where I want more buttons
What are your personal thoughts on the g923 looking at all of them and a liitle overwhelming with all the options ,just trying to find something under $400 but worth it still you know
That's amazing how many things you built for your rig with a 3D printer, especially the button box and keyboard holder, you could make some money selling those stuff...
how do you do this on console if the game keeps putting you back to the pit for driving the wrong way
Can I have you’re moza wheel I’ll pay 81 for it cash
no, obviously the best first drift car is a chevy chevette
You're gonna snub the Kia Forte?
Where would you put it when compared to n-style and dwg packs?
At the moment based on what i find myself going back to: 1. Nstyle 2. Swarm 3. Dwg
Dude these are cool!! I just made one that has a handbrake on it. The hand brake is just a lever that clicks a button but I am cheap and won't buy myself a handbrake if I can make one. I also have an ignition with a key start. It feels so cool starting your sim car with a key.
im going from some playstation wheel to a cls dd f1 wheel
Great video!
I love your videos man, your kind of humor is my favorite.
A useful comment from a fellow 350z owner
Worth noting this doesn't work well if you have the Ali express shifter. They use the same generic device drivers or something so assetto couldn't tell which was which on restarts of the manager.
Good call. Also meant to mention in the video that I'm not sure you'd be able to run 2 without them being seen as the same device, but didn't make it in.
@@JankyDrift it sees them as separate devices but with the same name. So it never remembers the right button mapping. I had this setup and moved to the stream deck instead.
Great vid, if i dont win ill definitely try this some time in the future
Great tutorial and nice result! How's the BeamNG video coming along?
Been on a long pause unfortunately. Was aiming to squeeze that one in before my kid was born, but he decided to come 3 weeks early and sleep deprivation has not been kind to the KZread channel lol. I filmed this video in April and just now got around to editing Hopefully soon.
@@JankyDrift Congratulations! What a wonderful reason! Not sleep deprivation, but having a child rather. Looking forward to the video, whenever it comes!
Thank you for remind me there's alternative and way safer way to do this, without soldering need like amstudio.
are there any belt driven wheels that i can use on xbox?
