Just Got 2 4Ks, the C variants meaning it’s got the body of a 3000 series reel with line capacity of a 4000. Can’t wait to test them out on some stripers.

I just started fishing for halibut off my kayak and am completely lost. Any advice for depth, structure vs. sand etc.? Do you all just let it drag as you drift or do you hop it more vertical every so often? I just have such a hard time seeing bites when my weight keeps catching on rocks and kelp…

I love those Penn conventional reels but from evidence of this video, they should make more Left Handed reels so that your right arm can dominate.

If you lay braid in at a slight angle, and at proper tension, it will not dig into the spool. Like / then \.

FYI...wsb do not release well. It is not a good idea to catch and release them. Most of the fish you released probably died.

Really enjoyed watching all you young bucks having such a good time surfcasting......until about 9:40 into it. Call me a grumpy old guy but I'm about 60 years into this and I cringe, that's 'CRINGE' with a capital 'C' when I see a nice rod and reel set down in the sand. Any sand. Tuck it under your arm, hand it to a friend or set the reel in your ball cap at least. I know the "it's propped up on the crank" crap. Wet sand stuck on your rod, guides and line. Sand is near death to a good reel. I bet you didn't learn that move from your Dad. Other than that, nice catch.
