Can somone please tell me what to do if I want to get to Puerta de Sol from the Airport by train? Do I buy a Renfe ticket from the airport to Atocha and then buy another ticket to Sol? Or do I buy a Renfe ticket to Sol from the airport and use that to tap in and out to transfer?

Thank you very much for the video, it is very helpful! I wonder in summer time, would it be a long lineup to exchange the entrance tickets to Castelo de Sao Jorge if I use Lisboa card. We are debating whether use Lisboa card or pre-purchase the entrance ticket online.

Hola Tony and Cecelia - You have done multiple excellent KZreads on fast trains, urban metro / busses, and road trips with rented autos. There is a gap in there - the occasional intercity / regional bus (or train?). We will visit Manzanares el Real for a day from Madrid. Not worth renting a car for this single day trip. It took a lot of research to find the line (724), the schedule (several sites had errors), and the station location. Type of ticket and how to pay is still a question but we'll figure it out. For rural travel I think this fills the gap nicely between the bullet trains serving major cities and the multi-day road trip with a rental car. A suggestion for you once you finish catching up on the next 100 videos you have planned 😀

While it is kind of easy to sink your teeth on the high-speed trains, regional trains and buses are a far more complex subject with a myriad companies and variations. We wouldn't know where to start. For that reason, we cover the specifics whenever we deal with a destination or a day trip. All the best!

Just returned to Canada from our annual 3 month stay in the Algarve. Interesting detail we learned from our Uber driver is that the Lisboa airport is now limiting drivers to 3 entries to the pickup location per day. Kind of odd.
Thank you. The story we heard is slightly different. Ridesharing services drivers get three free accesses to the car park; from the forth onward, they pay the car park fare.

Hi Norm, you can book in on the phone or going to the restaurant in person. Make sure they are still offering the daily menu on Saturdays, though. They will give you all the details, including the operating times. All the best.

Segovia and Toledo should NOT be considered day trips from Madrid. They are too big and unique to be experienced is less than a full day, as the phrase “day trip” implies. Segovia deserves two days and Toledo deserves three days. The Thyssen is a great alternative to the Prado because it’s easier to visit and there are only a fraction of the people there.
We visited Cordoniu Bodega after watching this video a week ago. We speak Spanish but we live in Canada and we follow this channel. During our visit to Cordoniu we started chatting with a Chilean couple who were doing the tour with us and we told them that this place was a recommendation on Road Trip Spain & Portugal KZread channel and they told us: Similar story but instead we follow a channel called España Total with Tony and Cecilia and we realize we were talking about the same guys. We laugh and toast for your recommendation, we had a good time during our visit to Cava Capital and trip to Spain, Gracias.

So only one type of a ticket can be loaded on the Navegante card at a time. But what if I want to have multiple instances of the same type? For example if I plan on 72 hours: Can I just buy 3x 24h and then not worry about anything? Or do I always have to wait till the 24h is up, go to a top-up machine and buy a new 24h ticket?
You can have several instances of the same type of ticket.

@@Lenduya that's correct. There might be a limit to the number of repeated tickets you can load onto a card.
As someone with moderate mobility issues I found Lisbon difficult to get around. Lots of hills and cobblestone paths that I was really afraid I would fall on. There’s always strikes on the metro too
Strikes occur, but in 34 years traveling regularly to Lisbon I've never encountered one in the metro, so I wouldn't go as far as claiming there's always strikes on the metro. I've victim of a train strike, though.

😄 Hola Tony! I very much enjoy your Road Trip videos. 😍 I have a question about the couverts at mealtime. I understand about the "if you touch it or partake in it, you have to pay for it", but, in the case of cheeses that can be served, if they are individually wrapped, can you take some of the cheese and pay for only what you eat or do you get charged the full price for the cheese? I your video here you show a plate with 4 cheeses on it. If I took two, do I only get charged for two? Or does it vary from restaurant to restaurant? Thank you for these videos, they are very helpful and I LOVE your enthusiasm for travel in Spain and Portugal.🛬🚊🚞
Hola! That is a very good question! Cheese are priced individually, so you should only be charged for the ones you eat. To make that very clear, we suggest you put aside, in a corner of the table, the cheeses you will not be eating. All the best to you!

Can simply tap your credit card at the machine for contactless ticketing for metro and bus instead of buying the Andante Card?
It's being tested on some metro lines. You will charged a Z4 card ticket even if you only travel through 2 zones, so it's not a good deal.

When I go to buy the tickets from the link you provided I noticed this-- "*You must exchange the printed voucher at the specified collection point in order to receive the Trans Montserrat card. You will not be permitted to use the services listed without the Trans Montserrat card." Do we just do that at the train station and is there a queue? or a quick scan from a machine? Thanks
You can exchange the voucher either at the station (on the day of travel you might encounter queues) or at the main tourist office before travel day. You have all the details on the purchase page.

In open spaces, with no valuables inside, no problem whatsoever. Check out what she does when she's using the public transport.

No, they don't. If you buy at the last minute you will pay the highest price.

How far will this card go? I'm staying in Santa Coloma de Gramenet and it looks like it's not Barcelona. I'm planning to visit La Roca Village as well. Are these covered?
It will take you to Santa Coloma de Gramanet. It won't take you to La Roca Village.

It depends on the petrol station, some do have other languages available.

You airport is on the furthest end of Barcelona from the airport. I would say it will take longer. If you are traveling light, take the airport train to Passeig de Gracia and the metro line 4 to El Maresme | Forum, and then walk 10 minutes to the hotel.
