    HI! Very useful video. Thank you! However, I would like some advice on what is the best way to reach accommodation from the airport in my case. The flight is expected to land at the T2C terminal. My wife and I will have to reach Gracia, the accommodation is the Residencia Erasmus Gracia. How should we do it? Since we will be in Barcelona for 5 days (3 full days + 2 travel days), which T-mobilitat card should we get? Thank you!

    Thank you so much for this practical video, once arrived at the airport I had the impression that I already knew the area 😅 One thing IMPORTANT to mention. I've been annoyed while trying to buy my 6 zones T-usual (~61€). Regarding the credit cards, the automate does only accept contactless payments! So if your country has a security which limits payments (e.g 50 €) or if this feature isn't activated on your credit card you're in trouble 😢 Furthermore it doesn't allow to use more than 1 bill of 50€ for payments (I had 2 bills of 50€) so be aware of this to avoid being stressed when making your ticket purchase..

    Yes, as a Barcelona resident it is definitely a pain not to be able to use 50€ bills for most tickets. In the past they had T-10 cards for about 10 euros (similar to T-casual), so I would buy 3-4 of them at a time, or look for a café willing to change my money, and end up buying a coffee when they refuse (and the dirty looks I would get 😂). Although, where did you try to get the ticket? Most of the older/bulkier ticket machines only accept credit cards with PIN payments, not contactless and most stations still has one of those.

  • @phoenixUPC

    I understand that the channel needs to be on the safe side for potential liability issues, but personally I think 1 hour is overkill. The access to high speed trains closes 5 minutes before departures, and I have often arrived 10-15 minutes before departure and made it to the train without a problem. I travel a few times each month, and only once I had to say excuse me and cut in front of the people in line for the security check. Of course, I have the benefit of experience and knowing where everything is and how it works at the station. So, I'd say 30 minutes would be more than enough time to figure things out and get on board your train. Maybe add 10 minutes if you are a big group or traveling with children or lot of luggage. If you are particularly averse to adrenaline rushes, aim for a soft 1 hour, but don't fret if you are 15-20 minutes delayed. Or you could always arrive early and enjoy a coffee with croissant/pastries or some McBreakfast at the station😉

  • @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal

    @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal

    @@phoenixUPC nothing to do really with liability issues. We always err on the side of caution. We've been stuck for endless minutes in the middle of the tracks leaving the airport so many times! On top of that, a visitor needs far more time to read a place and a situation than a local resident. Only last week, we must have seen a dozen people missing their high-speed trains at Atocha and Sants. Mostly locals (or at least people traveling without luggage), I must say.

    Nothing wrong with this particular answer from Google Maps though. It suggests first to take A2 to Pl Espanya or Pl Catalunya and then transfer to H12 or L1, which is reasonable. Definitely possible. The confusion probably arises from the fact that TMB considers airport as inside their definition of zone 1 but Renfe considers airport outside of their definition of zone 1. (yes, they have non identical definition of what each zone is, smh). T-casual is a TMB ticket, so you only need to buy it for a single zone. But when you buy a Renfe ticket, you need to choose the correct number of zones accordingly. I haven't checked recently but airport used to be in Renfe's zone 2 but quick Google search seems to suggest that it is now Renfe's zone 4(?!?) which is the same as a town as far away as Sitges, which is just weird. I'll check it out next time I am over at Sants.

    Love the video, very informative and up to date. However there is one mistake where you explain how to get to Bus 46 from Terminal 2. When you arrive at Terminal 2B, you can head to the first exit from the terminal (next to the horse sculpture), turn right and in 20 meters there is the bus stop for 46 for Terminal 2C. This way you don't need to walk all the way to the other side of the terminal. Also, you didn't mention the night buses, N17 and N18, which I find quite useful for early flights. Due to low traffic late at night, N18 can be almost as fast as the AeroBus.

    Thanks so much for the detailed videos. One thing I'm not clear on, is if you take the train from the airport with one of the T-Mobilitat passes, how do you pay the additional €1.xx to board? Do you need to load a cash balance onto the card in addition to the pass, do you need to pay with a credit card, or some other payment method? I'm wondering if the Hola Barcelona card might be a better option even if it is a little more expensive as one can take a train, metro, or city bus without having to worry at all about extra payments?

  • @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal

    Hello, didn't quite understand your question. T- mobilitat is just the support where you load your tickets (check out this video on the topic kzread.info/dash/bejne/epZ-3NKyqK-pqso.html ). To be able to travel, you need to load some type of ticket on the T-mobilitat. Hola Barcelona is a good option, but with a T-casual you can travel in all the public transports of the city of Barcelona with the exception of the airport metro.

  • @ciabelle281

    @ciabelle281

    2 ай бұрын

    @@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal Ok, I believe I understand now, but the way you phrased things had me confused. In short, using a T-Casual ticket to board the train at the airport will use one of the 10 credits on the ticket, which costs approximately €12.10 at the machine. At first, It sounded like one needed to pay an additional €1.21 over and above the credit used to depart from the airport station. Bear in mind, in order for a visitor to only pay €1.21 for the trip, they need to take *exactly* ten trips on public transportation during their visit. If they only use it five times, the cost will effectively be double. You've indicated that the train is faster than the metro, but as most visitors will arrive in T1, they will also need to factor the time of exiting the terminal, catching the shuttle to T2, and then the long walk to the train station, and trains only running every 30 minutes, vs about every 5-10 minutes for the metro. Especially if you are only visiting for a couple of days (going on a cruise for instance) one might need to weigh the pros and cons of using a T-Mobilitat card vs. an Hola Barcelona card.

    I would recommend the Renfe abono for cercanías de Barcelona for 10€ which would give you unlimited train travel to all 6 zones of Renfe, which includes both Calella and Montmeló as well as Barcelona. Unfortunately, I don't know any direct way from Calella to Montmeló/F1 track. If you choose to go by train, you'd have to come all the way back to Barcelona (El Clot-Aragó or Sants about 50-60 minutes with trains every 30 minutes or so) wait 5-25 minutes for transfer to R2 towards Montmeló (another 25-30 minutes with trains every 20-30 minutes) which takes about 2+ hours each way. And once you reach Montmeló, you are still about 2 miles /3.5km away from the race track (although Google shows there is a bus for that). Unless there is a special transport on race days, it feels like people organizing motorsports don't really like us people that use public transportation. 😂 Depending on your budget/time limitations and/or comfort expectations, you could take the train from Calella to another coastal town closer to the race track such as Mataró (around 20 minutes) and take a taxi from there for around 40-50 euros each way. This way you could be at the track in less than an hour. Not sure if you could find a taxi on the way back though. Good luck and enjoy!

    Also, if you choose the train route, and weren't planning on visiting Barcelona Center, I would consider looking into the renfe abono tickets. They are personal (you will need to write your passport digits when you purchase and cannot share, similar to T-usual) but they "cost"* 10 euros, and allow unlimited Renfe train rides for all zones (1 to 6) in Barcelona Cercanías area between May and August. 6 of the abonos would be cheaper than 2 T-familiars and it would allow you to hop on the train to visit nearby towns such as Sitges or Castelldefels for free, which I highly recommend. The obvious drawback is that the renfe abono ticket is not integrated to other modes of transportation, so it wouldn't allow you to use the metro or busses in Barcelona. But you could just buy a 1-zone T familiar if you end up visiting Barcelona. * Strictly speaking, the ticket is free with a 10 euro deposit, which you can get back in September if you complete 16+ trips, but I am not sure if it would be an option for you guys :))
