Would you mind showing how you route your drysuit and inflator hoses
Use the two short hoses for the inflation of both
😊😂😂😂😂❤
Good job and a nice looking torch mate. I see its cordless though... I wouldn't want that, I like a leash on my expensive gear. I've had my Orca D630 for ~4Yrs now and would buy another if/when it eventually dies. Seeya!
Always carry a back up mate, just incase 😉
Glad you're back! Hope you'll be putting out more content soon!?
Thanks mate, almost finished my stunt training so will be back properly soon
Welcome back, Andy. Any plans to put out more scuba related content?
Once I’ve finished my stunt training mate I’ll be back in the water and making more videos definitely
Really mad they released this a week after I bought the 710. But then again, they only provide ONE battery? The 710 came with 2, so maybe I prefer the 710
You can buy the batteries though of Amazon and they last a long time if not on full power so you’d get a full days diving out of them easily
No need to waste it on the front. There the silicone isn't a big deal, since it obviously won't fog.
Good to clean all surfaces to remove any build ups of detritus and prolong the life of the mask in my view
@@AndytheNorthernDiver Usually you can just do it later on once after the season. I mean that you don’t need to do the proper initial scrubbing of 4x rounds like inside the mask.
@MetallicReg each to their own, I like to make sure it’s as clean as possible before I wear it, then rinsed with clean water when I’m finished
I wouldn't have needed this video if I could get the gloves off after a dive. This video has been great to help me reassemble them. Thanks.
Glad to help mate, they’re a nightmare to get off especially when you need a post dive toilet. Equally you can lube them too much that they pop off too easy, it’s a fine balance.
If you are daft enough to give that fraudster Dutton your cash to dive here, you need to give your head a wobble. She's on the verge of bankruptcy, so hopefully a competent operator will have it soon.
Thanks for the vid, great stuff. Interested to know make and where you bought the yellow waterproof box you use to store yoiur analyser. Rgds //Robin H
Hi Rob, it was bought down on swanage pier a few years back I think it was a peli case one
@@AndytheNorthernDiver Thank you so much, found their webb page....keep up the good vids and safe diving 🙂
@@robhag58 no worries mate you too
Great masterclass vid Andy - I use Zip-Slip. Plop the bottle in some warm water for a few minutes then paint on. Works a treat mate. Cheers Steve (Shackle) Basildon BSAC 0356
Thanks mate stay safe
When it comes to warm hands, most people forget how the human body works. When your body cools down in cold water, your body will want to keep your core warm and cut off the blood flow to your hands and feet. The most important thing for warm hands and feet is to ensure that your body core remains at the right temperature.
Thanks Rob, that’s a great point
48:04 I think Dave is misunderstood, the emotion was shown when he said it felt like when your child goes missing and then turns up, the relief. That shows he gave a damn. They weren't "best friends" but he was being held back from rescuing the man. He can come across a bit cold but at the start he joked about being the Vulcan. The film was excellent The podcast episode is great
Thanks Emma it was one of my favourites
So helpful, thank you. I want to put the cuff ring lower down in the glove (To make it shorter) but I can't get it to stay in position to get that first o-ring on. Any tips??
Get someone to help and hold out in place while you put it together
Andy great tips mate we love your videos. Happy diving brother!
Thanks mate, it’s been a while since I’ve made much content, too busy with other training, hopefully back in the water properly this summer
Great video, how do you like those new apex regs?
They weren’t mine, I was servicing for a friend. Great design though, especially if you’re in really cold water and likely to freeze them, these should be perfect, no need in warmer waters though.
Hi Andy, Just got a second hand drysuit with Kubi system and decided to replace the gloves. Did the 'blokey' thing and decided I could do it without any help, turns out I was wrong 😞. Watched your video and realised I had the ring the wrong way round 🤪. So you saved me a lot of grief, cheers 👍
Great stuff mate
i thought the handle was not a handle after time it will become entanglement point cause you put tension on it's rather to follow to get to bottom d ring and or hold the mouth piece of your regulator, isn't it ?
I’ve heard that too, but do what you want mate, it’s your kit
no worries you do excellent video i learn a lot from them i am just challenging you 😅
Very informative video. I consider to switch to long hose myself, love the idea behind it. Can you tell me what length your neck strap for your back up regulator has?
I think it’s about 17” once tied, but it all depends on where you like it to sit.
@@AndytheNorthernDiver thanks! i am gonna buy myself a meter of bungee cord and experiment. Would be ideal to just grab the regulator with my mouth in case of an emergency
@@sandafoks7056 totally agree
That was really good how are you getting with the jjccr now? Thanks Barry
I’ve not dived it in a while mate due to other training I’m doing. Hopefully that will be done in the spring so I can look back at it come this summer.
Most intense eyes on youtube :D
Hahahah really 😳
I've got a couple of Apeks spools. You need about 1.5x as much line as your deployment depth. If you're deploying your dSMB from 20 meters, you need 30 meters of line on your spool. This is because the dSMB doesn't shoot up straight when there's a current, and you want it to be able to reach the surface. If you're buying a cheap, overwound 30m spool, keep in mind that you'll likely have to remove 10-15m of line to make the spool usable. That will turn your 30m spool into a 15-20m spool. I have a compact 15m spool for deploying from my safety stop. This is enough for recreational open water. I have a 30m Halo spool for cold water diving, which is good down to 20m. And I have a 60m spool for S&R, jump lines, and deploying from 40m. I carry a maximum of 2 spools on a dive, depending on the situation.
Cheers mate
Hi Andy, I know this is an older video now but do you have any advice for the routing of the long hose if you don't have a light battery?
Stuff It in the waist belt or buy the apeks hose retainer that’ll be more secure mate
@@AndytheNorthernDiver Thanks ;)
That is a really convoluted way of attaching a dSMB to your spool. Why not just pull the leader through the D-ring or loop on the dSMB, and pull the spool through the leader? Personally, I keep my dSMB and spool separate. I pull the leader of the line through one of the holes in the spool. Attach the bolt snap to the leader, wrap it behind the trigger, and clip it through the gate. Then clip your dSMB onto that same gate. They're securely clipped together. Then, when it's time to deploy: Unclip the dSMB from the boltsnap. Clip the spool to a D-ring. Unfurl the dSMB and hold it with your left hand. Unclip the spool, hold it with your dSMB in your left hand, and remove the bolt snap. Clip the bolt snap back onto the D-ring. Pull the leader out of the hole, and thread it through the dSMB D-ring. Pull the spool through the leader. Inflate the dSMB and let it go. Take the bolt snap off the D-ring, and clip it onto the line. Wind the line back onto the spool using the bolt snap. Clip the line off to the spool with the bolt snap when you reach your stop.
That’s a very convoluted explanation of how you do it, but thanks for sharing it - each to their own
What is the standard short hose length for the alternative necklace regulator for single tank and if any difference for the twin set configuration? Basically with the single tank configuration the hose terminates at the middle base of the divers neck opposed to a twin set terminating behind the divers left shoulder.
Single Alternate Necklace Regulator Average 22” 55 cm / 21.5 inch to 60 cm / 23.6inch
Honestly mate I use the same hose for both
I can work with that. It’s only a few inches difference at most. 🤙💪🤿
Hello Andy! Congrats! Nice and clear video! i want to ask you what do u recommend to wear during the winter out of water in the cold lands as termal suit? (i tought) i want to use it for metaldetecting! many thabks!
Hi thanks for watching, I’d have to say layers are the best way to go, but I have been known to wear my Kwark under suit on really cold outdoors jobs with a number of layers too
Super helpful! Thanks, Mate
Glad it helped!
I use my drysuit hose to inflate my DSMB. It works a treat and if I can’t get it back on my dry suit for some reason there’s no worry as I’m ascending not descending at the end of the dive. It’s much safer than using your bcd hose cause if something goes wrong & you can’t reattach your bcd hose to the bcd you have no inflation on the surface
Yeah I like that, often I have a bailout or deco cylinder so use the hose off that to make it easier / safer than unattaching a hose
You know you can manually inflate your BCD, right? There's a special mouthpiece on your power inflator especially for that purpose. During the ascent you only need to let air out of the BCD, so not being able to reattach the LPI hose isn't really an issue.
Belter tip I'll be using this from now on 👌🏻✌🏻
Thanks mate
I really like the Dive Rite side mount stage cylinder rigging. I originally purchased mine to support a single AL80 cylinder staged as a lift bag supply instead of using my breathing gas. Now that I am focused on working towards Technical certification I think I will add a few more of these same Dive Rite kits to me cart. Cheers mate, great gear makes for great opportunities.
Thanks for watching pal
Ouvi Relatos Que Existem Corpos Não Recuperados Nos Destroços, Isso É Vdd ????
Please translate to English I don’t understand what you’re trying to say
Was one of you wearing a semi dry in that video?
A semi wet mate
I have this unit and just realizes Analox discontinued the O2EII Pro. Still a good analyzer.
Thanks mate
Would have been better if you showed with the regulator. This requires a few more manipulations and coordinations. Just my two cents off course…
Thanks
There is also a catheter cleaning crystal break down solution sold with condom style catheters
Great, I’ll look for some, I didn’t know that was a thing, cheers
Golly good idea. Thanks a mill.
No problem 👍 thanks for watching
Just did the same dive, aside from in reverse. It's quite intimidating and eerie going down that corridor with. single tank set up. The noise from the air escaping sounded like screams, I wasn't the only one to hear it. RIP to the poor souls. Good video.
Yeah mate tragic story, epic dive
just been given the old one , yellow one , how to use that as its reading 0:000 what needs changing on it Ets
I’d start by changing the battery and o2 cell and hopefully it’ll be like a new one
Do you solely rely on a single first stage when diving cold waters? I always thought, that it was the first stage, which tends to freeze up rather than the second stage, hence I've put two second stages on my can.
Yeah but it’s not that cold here and technology has improved so many 1st stages are environmentally sealed now and have louvres built in to dissipate the temperature change to reduce freezing
Cheers Pal, good info, to the point, love it ❤👍😜😎🕺🏻☘️
Great mate thanks
Can you show us all the Showa glove being put on
Sorry mate I don’t know what the Showa glove is.
Although I haven't tried it myself, a friend of mine said, "use the beeswax stick, and put lots on, then use a hairdryer to melt the wax and you are away".
Good advice
Watched 5 videos till yours showing how it is actually used in an example. thank you sir
Great thanks for watching glad it helped
what would be the comparison between flexibility and weight?
From memory the braid is lighter and more flexible.
What happens when i drop the reel because my fingers are too cold.....40 metres of line to wind in whereas a ratchet reel it is no line to get tangled in and wind in
Same as what happens when you drop the ratchet when your hands are too cold, you have another hand on it….. Better still wear the correct protection in cold water and in theory you wouldn’t be too cold. Generally divers that use spools are doing the type of diving that requires them to use spools, were ratchets are too cumbersome and have possible failure points that would be detrimental to the dive. They’d also be likely to carry more than one so again a ratchet would be the wrong choice again. I’m not saying ratchets are bad or wrong, but every bit of kit has its place, some can be multi use, others are preferable.
Grab the line and clip a bolt snap onto it. Let the bolt snap sink while you guide the line through your fingers. Eventually the spool will be back in your hand, and you can start reeling in the line. Once the line is on the spool again, use the bolt snap to wind the rest of the line back onto the spool while you ascend. If you find you lack the dexterity to use a spool in cold water, use a ratchet reel instead. The lack of dexterity may come not only from cold fingers, but also from thick gloves. You can't really feel what you're doing when there's 7mm of neoprene between your fingers and the spool.
Quality. Really great video. Thanks.
Glad you liked it thanks for watching
Is the choker around the tank neck bungee or a solid piece of rope?
Bungee mate
Hey buddy, thanks for the video. What temperature range waters do you usually dive in with the setup you showed? I like how your undersuits seem a lot less bulky than what I have seen on the market ….
Between 2 and 18 degrees Celsius, there’s such a variety out there, I’ve been going off others recommendations for a under suit that’s easy to move in and drys quickly.
I’ve got a 300 bar cylinder I use for air rifle filling, when you open the din valve the air escapes from what I can only assume Is a release hole in the valve it’s self, do I have to buy a new valve? Or can it be serviced and repaired, thanks
Hi Dave, I’m not an expert in this so I’d suggest taking it to a local dive shop and ask them to look at it. That said what you’re saying is that if you open the valve, gas escapes. I would expect that, so assuming you mean with your whip attached to the cylinder and PCP, and gas is heard to be escaping the system. I expect that your O ring is missing, faulty or damaged at the DIN end. These are easy to find and replace as they’re a common size. Again, the local dive or gun shop should be able to advise on this. Hope that helps mate. Thanks for watching
Same comfiguration, just I like my second stage thats on necklece to be on shorter 55cm hose, thats just what I prefere
I spoke to Robbie Schmittner, when I was doing the “Are you a scuba diver, fancy a brew?” Podcast and he prefers a short hose on both left and right. He said if they need your gas, why not just hand the bottle off to them….. Actually makes loads of sense till you have to gas share I guess, and then what if it’s your long hose that’s 4k’d and you’re sharing your other cylinder……. Everyone has a idea of what’s right for them, not much is wrong with most ideas, just some are better than others in different situations
