Shara Woodshop Diaries

Shara Woodshop Diaries

Woodshop Diaries is a DIY blog with building plans and tutorials ranging from large furniture builds to small decor items. As a former engineer, now turned full time DIYer/content creator, I tend to be a bit technical, but I enjoy sarcasm and try to throw in some humor along the way.

Check out my tutorial videos here and then head over to www.woodshopdiaries.com for all the building plans and more detailed instructions.

First time coming across your channel and I have to say this series feels classroom complete which is a very good thing. A lot of of “build this” (not Brad he’s great) type videos tend to be like the draw bird meme. Step 1, draw outline. Step 2, draw the rest of the effing bird. Your tutorial is so thorough and packed with details I legit had to take notes on a paper and rewatch certain parts more than a few times. I just built my first cabinet for the garage as practice and I’d watched enough videos on how to do so. It came out alright and I will admit I kinda winged it on come parts because I’m a kinesthetic learner. I have to do things to really learn, even if it’s just to learn the mistakes and the reason not to do things. With that under my belt this series provided crystal clear details on everything I need to do next time. It feels like I actually showed up to class instead of reading a classmate’s notes and showing up for the test. Long winded way of saying, amazing work!

Shara, what can I say about this... I am always amazed by your projects. Nicely done. You're making it look so easy, but it isn't. Every now and then I get jealous when I see you doing this. I'm already looking forward to your next work of art and I would say "happy building"!

That looks great. A little classier than some of the other similar designs I have seen. Is Honey Teak the color you used? That timber oil seems to be the best choice for outdoor furniture that is available here in TN. But I have to buy a full gallon and am unsure what color I want for cedar and pine. Thanks, and keep up the good work. I generally like the style of all your projects.

  • @WoodshopDiaries

I suppose you can use them inside if you wanted. Me and the dog sit on the loveseat version of this design (I built last year) on the porch literally every single day. We find it comfortable.

I don't like building the same thing twice, so I don't usually take on commission projects, especially for things I've already made.
