I truly wish everyone who wishes to join the RCAF as a pilot, that their dream manifests itself. Nevertheless, should your dream not matetialize of becoming a pilot in the air force - please do keep in mind that there are many other options to becoming and working as a commercial pilot in Canada and around the world. There is a severe shortage of commercial pilots in Canada, the US, Europe, the far east, Africa and elsewhere in world. For example, going back some 10 or more years ago, even an entry-level position in bush flying, required some 500-1200 hours of prior flying experience. Today, if one looks hard enough, one can enter as a new pilot flying the bush with as little as 200 hours. The 'fly-in-the-ointment' these days are the exorbitant costs now for training, as the costs have risen exponentially. (IDEA: get a construction trade, this will help defray the costs or at least help pay for the loans taken-out to pay for training (aka flight hours)). And, if you are still in late primary school or early secondary school, do not forget to study hard - especially: math & physics; repeat: math & physics. Best of luck to all & 'Godspeed'...

Currently 13 turning 14 this year (2024) I hope to join the RCAF and fly the C130 hercules. I’m hoping to join RMC or get my bachelors degree in something and join through there. Still have 5 years to go. I already joined royal Canadian air cadets since that will help me. Wish me luck.

You can do an undergrad at RMC for whatever you want (and if they have it). Looks like for air, there is a lot of aerospace stuff and electronics from the eng angle. From the military education side, you could get a bachelors in war and tactics or defense. There are also social sciences like histories and language stuff. This is all on their site. My brother is about your age, and I'm trying to pick his brain about what he likes...which will make career path that much easier.
