    Very unique! I really like it! I'm afraid the branch on the inside bottom of the bowl looks like a rat with a short tail to me. I love it, but I'm afraid some wouldn't.

    Love it. You just never know what is hidden inside. I really thought that was a burl, but it turns out to be a healed over branch. Beautiful grain. Great work.

    I like the bottom. At first, I thought it could be filled with dyed epoxy (some color other than black), that would draw one's eye, but it already does. inspiring

    Thank you very much Robert. I think dyed expoxy is a choice many would make. I avoid the stuff . Not that it does not look good for somethings. Just not for me. The fumes ,dust and mess is not good to be around. At least for me. I will use it to keep a piece together now and then. Thanks for watching, Gary

    Wow that was an interesting one turned out really nice Q I was wondering what angles do you use for your negative rake scraper?

    Thank you Colin! The scrapper is 38 degrees on each side. They say anything less than 90 is good but I find around 40 to be real good. Last time I changed it to 76 and like it a lot. Thanks for watching, Gary

    Thank you vbery much Jim. It was very interesting to turn. After my ankle healed I had 2 other things that slowed me down. Both legs got pretty stiff from not walking much so I went back to the PT they gave me but this time for both legs. Wow has really helped...duh! LOL Thanks for watching, Gary

    The grain is awesome Gary. Very unusual bottom, but that is what the wood gave you -- it is still an awesome bowl with unique character. The orientation you chose was the right choice; it preserved that really awesome figure.

    Yes . I like natural but resin has certainly opened up new avenues for woodturning

    I really love watching how you went from idea to execution. The end product is a real thing of beauty! Watching the amazing color ṕop'from the wood when you ar finishing it really blew me away. Seriously thinking of looking to find a beginner wood turning class somewhere nearby and have a crack at this myself. Think it could be very relaxing and rewarding :)Thank you for sharing.

    Thank you very much for your comments. It is very relaxing and finding someone who can help you get started is a good idea. This is not your standard segmented turning but not all that hard do do. There are a few who do classes on segmented turning but just getting started in the basics is a good idea.     Man I thought you were going to hollow thinner so that the bark areas would be voids in the final piece. I’m glad you didn’t, I was worried it would explode on you. Nice job adapting to what the wood gave you!

    Loved this one Gary. Must have missed the survey, but this one was fantastic..the inside bottom I really looked but you didn’t show it long enough to really make up my mind unfortunately. The piece lost a lot of diameter, I don’t really know if you could have saved any of it. Good one, thanks for sharing

    I love the look of the piece.. How have you been. I've not turned anything in awhile. the whole selling stuff at my booth has been keeping me very very busy. cutting boards and tables . bowls don't do much. people love them but not the price. I need to get back to it.

    Gary, Mr. Potato Head surprised me…it was a lot larger than I suspected. Then the punky section and the branch. You worked thru the issues and it’s a wonderful looking bowl, and finish is terrific. Great job! 👍

    Looks like your burl was a dead branch “heal over”. Always a tricky turn. But you found a good result out of the piece.

    Exactly Valerie. It was also the poor thing that someone hammered 2 large nails in that I cut through when removing this from the burl. But it made 2 nice turnings!
