    for GRC, you can do GRC Mastery first then follow it woth google cyber cert you technically don’t need more, but you may need to do more studying depending on how much knowledge you currently have

    Hi I am in early 40's and have 15+ yrs in VoIp technology but now I feel there are not many opportunities in that area, I live in Australia, I want to move into Cybersecurity but main problem is I wont get same current salary which is necessary in these tough times (cost of living) . Appreciate if anyone came across this situation and have successfully switched their career to Cybersecurity.

  • @UnixGuy
    @UnixGuy8 сағат бұрын

    What you need to do is start learning. No one can guarantee you a high salary from the get go. You’ve got two options: 1) Start studying, which will open up new opportunities for you 2) remaind in VoIP and see it continue to decline over time I reckon you’ll be able to leverage your current experience, but again no one can guarantee you a high salary from the get go :)

    Hi bro! I have some MikroTik certifications, pretty good english, today I work on support level 2 and have a good understanding about networking. I will make my carrer change starting today iniciating with the google certification like you said and will also start my cybersecurity degree (it's just 5 semesters here in Brazil, 100% focused on the required disciplines for the job market). I will follow your roadmap to land that job real fast and will keep you guys up to date every Saturday. My final goal is to be a PenTester. If anyone wants to help me with PayPal donations I will be grateful, as the certifications are in dollars and the real is more than 5 times cheaper than the dollar, so the certifications end up literally costing my monthly salary at the moment. But if you don't want to help with money, wish me good luck in the comments. Having people supporting me on this journey will be a great help!

    i am using the the cyber mentor grc course. It's ok but it's kinda boring. The "labs" aren't engaging. To be honest I don't feel like I am going to gain much when I am done outside of a little more knowledge. How are your labs conducted? It's the hands on I am missing. Just want a brief example of what labs are like before I shell out money, if you have a video on one the would be even better.

  • @UnixGuy
    @UnixGuy19 сағат бұрын

    At the end of each module in GRC Mastery you get a practical assessment, which is a written problem, then you get to see how I solve it the biggest value is the capstone project, which is an end to end NIST assessment, i film myself solving the whole thing I’m not sure what level of ‘engagement’ you’re after. the subject is a bit dry but I approach it from a practical lense. My course is a lot more comprehensive and covers more topics

  • @UnixGuy
    @UnixGuy19 сағат бұрын

    No, this course is deeper than that. Documents you can create using templates online this course will teach you the rationale behind things im the documents. For example, it will teach everything you need to know about asset management and identity & access management so you make better decisions at policy development Look through the module’s descriptions. There is a practical assessment at the end of each module and there is a big capstone project where you conduct an enterprise-wide cyber security maturity assessment using the NIST framework

  • @UnixGuy
    @UnixGuyКүн бұрын

    well done on doing these courses! No you definitely dont need the google cert. I’m concerned that you haven’t got an interview with all this training. Do you have a good resume? how many jobs have you applied to? do you apply to jobs daily? so many people got jobs with less certs than you so something is not right! Did you get those certs and pass the corresponding exams?

  • @smythsonianisback4190
    @smythsonianisback4190Күн бұрын

    @@UnixGuy Well, I firstly live in a countryside area and need to relocate, so that might factor into it. As for the certs, I passed the exams for tSec+ and GRC (not CDSA), as well as A+, Net+, and Linux Essentials. I've been using AI to make my resumes, admittedly. I've applied to a lot of jobs in the past year, though not daily.

  • @UnixGuy
    @UnixGuyКүн бұрын

    @@smythsonianisback4190 ok that explains things! First thing you need to do is actually pass CDSA, because that’s step 5 that I mentioned in this video (actually passing an intermediate level cert) you also skipped step 2 entirely… if you’re using AI to generate a resume then it’s as good as not having a resume at all, so please spend enough time on making it good and marketable and yes, if you’re in a location where jobs are limited then more training isn’t going to solve this issue :) best of luck!
