I like Ray but I'm always amazed at how much equipment he hauls about. So much heavy, pointless kit, usually so he can make ridiculous meals. If he's going to take a landrover, kettle, canoe, pans etc, just bring a lighter ffs.

I love the way the supposedly "tame" UK countryside reveals itself as a rugged wilderness. It also pains me to think about how much more forests there would be in the UK and Ireland (the least forested European country nowadays, but it has not always been so) if only...

It's great that more people are looking to experience wild nature. It is possible to endure and even thrive in desert or deep snow or high seas. You need to know your limitations, learn about and prepare for the environment you'll visit, and make sure people know where you are going and when you'll be back.

Even when Ray Mears rolls a canoe, he does it with some skill. It happens to everyone who canoes or kayaks, and the best thing is to make sure your items are secured in the craft, and that you get up and out of danger ASAP.

Too bad all the false propaganda about honey bee mites causing the bee decline by 50%. Its common sense/knowledge that the Roundup and other pesticides are the Real cause of butterfly and bee insect devastation around the Earth. Put the blame where it lies-on Monsanto, Bayer ,Dow and all the chemical producers. Go after the evil companies- not natures and Gods perfect balance.
