  yes and no, it boosts exorcism and makes exo ur #1 ability, but with testwerk ur guaranteed crits. Thats not a real situation. with HotR and malleable ur main dam comes from melee and SoM. It'll be competative, but PP might edge it out. Only time will tell. It's not a big enough difference to really be super sad about imo.

  i played a paladin tank in vanilla, like OG wow, back when it would get you laughed at. i played that tank through cata the first time and the second time around i mained it BC and used it as my primary alt for wrath. i played a LOT of tank paladin. my alts the first time around were also usually tanks as well. the amount of people i see giving way too much emphasis on threat / tank dps is ludicrous. it's so nice to see someone give a tank guide and say "guys stay alive, don't worry about threat". IMO a tanks first job is always to take as little damage as possible first. so glad to see someone else share this view.

  I tested the retri rotation a lot on the ptr and it will continue to be mediocre, like builds and equipment combinations and it will certainly be the worst dps spec, ahead of perhaps the fire mage in MC.

  Retri is worse, it doesn't scale with equipment like other melee ones and the damage and rotation are horrible, it's going to be the worst of all the specs, I honestly think I'm going to cancel the subscription, wow, it's already enough for me, I can't accept one average game with subscription....

  Deep prot needs some big buffs to holy shield on the number of blocks, lets just make it like the T1 set bonus minus the extra damage, then we can be the blocking maxhine we bloody well should be. Personally i feel pallys feel better using SP, more thematic i reckon. Increase the scaling for everything boom not just a weird warrior now. Just my thoughts

  Ret feels so underpowered especially if you’re not a fan of the seal twist play style. One idea I had was to add in either a rework of an existing rune or a new rune entirely to make it to were when the paladin casts a damaging judgment it would have a proc chance to empower crusader strike into Templar strike. This would add in a proc into our rotation that would feel good to press and it wouldn’t make us the god Teir dps but it would def close the gap especially if you don’t wanna seal twist. What do y’all think?

  @@JurdiJD I see your point and I think I’d have to agree. This close to launch and how much goes into coding especially with all the other projects going on (Cata and TWW). I don’t mind the exo spam just wished we could go back to slow hard hitting weapons (albeit you can if you seal twist but that’s not my cup of tea lol). But thanks for the reply!   They should commit to these decisions abandon AP on prot, they're right its less thematic. Either change all abilities to scale off SP or make the malleable conversion give a bit of both SP and AP/str like mental dexterity but based on more than just defense. Seal of vengeance based on spell damage would be good. Improve their mana regen from guarded by the light and by blocking from imp sanctuary. Also just buff guarded by the light to have an offensive component to compete with art of war maybe reducing CD of avengers shield. Can you imagine the complaints if art of war ret pallies reduced cd of avengers shield? The problem with paladin runes feels like too much flexibility where it ends up every paladin takes the same runes because there's always 1 best option Better rune setup for a hybrid is like shaman and of course druid. Then have few utility slots or runes where they serve different purposes.

  That's why I said seal of vengeance as a better seal for prot instead of SoM. ShOR doesn't scale off AP in the notes. Hotr can be changed. I'm saying in the long run for the overall design it would be better that prot paladins gear and abilities focus on SP not AP. If anything they can also do both like what mental dexterity does, give both. So defense gives SP and then SP gives a portion of strength. Mental dexterity has int give AP and SP give AP.

  ​@@JurdiJDpossibly, but I'd expect a lot more class changes in the next 2 weeks. It's crunch and blizzards development has been known as a madhouse by former founders. They could take a less dramatic approach and save it for next ptr when we get a shoulder rune. Depending on their gearing, this is a good direction for the long run but feels bad because it's an immediate nerf to output that we're already used to

  You're sad bc there's no AP scaling bc u'd like to play sword and board DPS or bc it's bad for tanks? Isnt spell power better because of consacration + Holy shield damage proc + exo? So most of the damage will be out of that while threat fillers so u won't drop thread would be hammer of right and shield slam, I'm abit confused on how to take this. Lemme know ur thoughts!

  the coefficient from cons holy shield isnt good. very minimal to notice. Exo sure, but the other 2 no. Our main sword and board runes, HoTR and ShoR, do not scale with SP.

  Prot is close to being perfect by reverting the change from SP to AP with Holy Shield, and increasing the spell damage coefficient from 5% to 30-40% so Holy Shield deals more damage. Or, making it scale with block value instead of SP, would synergize well with ShoR. But we need AP since our main damage comes from melee hits, SoM, HoTR, and ShoR. Additionaly a 10% AP scaling to ShoR can be a nice addition. Also make Art of War work with Avenging Shield, it's a great ability and we want to use it more.

  I love the 50% domage cd that passivly double the sp of holy shield. Seath of light is a ret rune now. On ptr, i was loosing 40sp out of 350. And not full def

  If most of our abilities scaled/scaled well with AP, sure. But HoTR and ShoR don’t atm So even tho you had more SP, you probably had less DPS than a ret prot set BUT, deep prot still works fine and holds great threat on the ptr. It would just be stronger if it was AP HS, not SP HS

Dep ret whith out holy shield is bether for dps anyway. So both option can exist IF we need domage reduction in dificultie 3. Dont parse deep prot for sure.

  There is no reason to bring a prot paladin over other tanks, because we don't have a single area where we shine brighter than the other tanks. We don't have HP scaling. Our Aoe dmg/threat is less than other tanks. We have no %phys or magic reduction. Dwarves still have to choose between spell hit that won't cap us, defense, and weapon skill. Our 1 and only cooldown is taken at the expense of threat. The only thing I'm seeing that is going to bring us into the light is the 6pc tier 1 bonus that was datamined. Honestly Paladins have the worst talent tree and base kit in classic, and they have to do so much to make us even viable compared to the fully fleshed out other classes. Maybe I'm missing something.

  Great feedback, Jurdi. As a prot PvP and prot PvE paladin, these are 100% my thoughts, with one exception: so far, I love Divine Steed <3 I want to point out once again for the devs: bring back HoTR as it was, or reduce the AoE damage to 3x and keep the damage to main target to 4x. If devs can make us play prot, the nerf is even less needed. I would even say a buff might be needed for the 4x HoTR version. Let me clarify why. As you said, we played retri p1, p2, p3 tanks. Now, if they make prot viable, we will lose 15% damage from Vengeance, 10% damage from Sanctity Aura, 5% crit, and if they don't make Shield of the Righteous better for protection than Vindicator, that's also 15% less strength and agility. Add on top of that the 50% reduced damage to HoTR plus 30% reduced damage in PvP, and you can imagine a real noodle. But I believe the devs are listening and hope that we will see change. The exorcism spam was a tough pill to swallow for most of us prot pallies. It may have been boring, but it was effective. Don't make us lose HoTR. Holy Shield, as the final talent point in Protection, should be WAY WAY better than it currently is. The scaling is really bad at the moment. Shamans have a baseline shield ability that deals 220-230 damage with every attack against them, while we deal only around 100 damage (in pvp) exclusively when we block. This discrepancy is particularly problematic given that Holy Shield is the last talent point in the Protection tree, equivalent to an ultimate ability in Dota 2 let's say. Regarding the Tier 1 Protection 6/6 set, I feel it should either be a rune or made baseline. If it's overpowered, it can be tuned down a bit to ensure it's balanced, but not as weak as it is now. If players really enjoy playing with it, they shouldn't be forced to continue using Tier 1 gear when better gear from Tier 2 or Tier 3 with superior stats becomes available. I applaud the Aegis change; that's a good one. As I said I trust the devs are listening, and I really believe in them. Make sword and board great again!

  i agree with the whole video and like alot of your points you made but going to the undead boss testwerk with our numbers being inflated, i would honestly say to the contrary. we are no longer insta resetting exo procs. i could honestly get 2,3,4,5,6 or w/e the number may be before, in the time i get 1 now. even when they are guaranteed crits, i dont think were that inflated if at all. none the less, amazing video been really enjoying the content.

  I didn't put a lot of time into editing this, just wanted to share some thoughts. I haven't talked about the updates from the last ptr just because minus Divine Steed it's nothing super noteworthy, AND I was deep into Elden Rings DLC (I beat it so I can focus back on this again).   Yeah torn paladin is fun, untill you got an other tank or you need to off tank, then why is it there to begin with? With all the other tank geting aoe, why bring the akward block mt or bust one... i'll be the doomer, rogue and druid are so mutch bether to tank. No need for prot paladin block medigation when there armor caaped bear and warlock or avoidance capped rogues...

  Yeah, and I want to share MT responsibilities with my guilds Warlock tank, but I'll be useless, and we are a semi parse focused guild. The main fix is just making ShoR equal or better than Vindicator so we are allowed to have a DPS offspec.

  CTC is gunna be unachievable until Firelands even if your just stacking mastery like prot warr can get it but thats only with sheild block up so for a small window, But dope video! Thanks for sharing I currently play all 4 tanks all sitting around 360iLvL and PALLY HAS BEEN A FUCKIN BLAST, Warrior has always been my favorite tank to play because of how fun it is and in wotlk I played aton of prot pally but it was passivly OP af now prot pally is on the same level of fun because you actually have to do alot more to survive use more CDs WOG when needed swap seal all that make it so fun!

  I achieved full CTC on my prot pally this week. I have a 372 chest, but every other piece is 359. With mastery food, mastery elixir, Kings, and Horn of Winter I get to 102.4%.

  I’ve been leveling a blood dk and i can definitely understand the appeal of it as a tank, but i feel like it makes your healers too comfortable… if that makes any sense 😅. I prefer prot pally because it just feels more satisfying, hearing enemies banging off your shield as you dodge out of the way and using your cooldowns more efficiently just feels more involved.

  Excited to try shockadin again with 6sec cd hs and exo baseline meaning u can run exo , hs , avengers shield new dots and crusader stike seal of martydom all at the same time with wings sacred shield and giving good survivability

  I think "magnitude" in regards to aura mastery means the area of affect not double the benefit like your not going to have sanctity aura giving you more holy damage than before. On the seal twisting im with you. I hate that isshh

  Look like the consecration heal percentage got nerfed by 20% (200% -> 180%). Not 100% sure but judging from the values before the nerf follow by after in this video.
