What do you think about a full size mattress going on top of a coupe (Toyota 86) though? It would just be a 20 minute drive. Mattress Warehouse wants $100 to drive a mattress 20 mins to me which is absolutely outrageous & out of the question...

Thank you so much for this video. I had the help from a girl friend to put the mattress and box spring on top of my car. And, I was able to drive more than 200 km, on the highway, at a relatively fast pace, with a bit of rain. There was no issue at all. Thanks again.

This method worked like a charm. I hauled my old mattress and box spring to the dump for $50 after buying the ratchet straps and paying the dump fee. It would have cost close to $200 for a junk removal service to do it. Sleepy Sal for the win!

Well, thank you for making your video Sal. Well, thank you for making your video. Sal used your advice. It was perfect your play-by-play or step-by-step video. I use the exact same straps from Harbor freight to take an extra long twin mattress on a sedan car. I used all four of the Harbor freight straps the exact ones that you used. We’re only 799 at Harbor freight so that was cool and I took your advice to put something underneath my antenna receiver I was driving 75 miles an hour on the freeway had no problems. Thank you.

this video saved me from renting a truck or trailer, plus the associated increased gas costs. I also put the metal frame on top of the box spring. used 4-15 ft rachet straps. drove 100mi, 99% interstate, mostly 55 mph, brief stints slightly above 55. we did this on a sunday so traffic was light. thx Sleepy Sal

Is this safe for highway speeds? I am moving and what to take my mattress, I don’t have a box spring, just the memory foam mattress. I was thinking to place cardboard inside between the plastic protector so the straps don’t ruin the mattress but maybe that overkill. Anyone have any thoughts they’d like to share about this? I’m moving from coast to coast so it’s a long haul. I’m weighing the pros and cons between talking it or leaving it behind and just buying a new one later.

If you follow my instructions, you can drive at the speed limit on the highway or other roads. Remember to check your straps for tightness and that your load is secure along the way.
