We had just bought a queen size beauty rest mattress from Costco with the box spring. Their delivery says it’s white glove. When the two men brought in the mattress and box spring mattress into our home they marked up the ceilings going up the stairs. The worse part was realizing after they left and I made the bed with clean sheets closed the door and was excited the next day went to open the bedroom door to have the room reek of cigarettes and just a gross smell. We took the mattress out to the garage. I have been giving a run around by Costco. They sent the same two men who delivered it to pick them up after I had sent the manger Patrick of the East Lansing, Michigan store the ring camera footage showing the delivery guy throw the mattress off the truck onto our driveway. I believe this was a refurbished mattress that they were selling as new. It had no tags on it not even a beauty rest tag. The box spring had the black material that transferred onto my carpet where the first delivery guy carrying it in by himself hit the ceiling and walls with then dragging it up the stairs. I would not recommend buying any mattress from Costco!

If the manufacturers' date on the law tag seems old, I would question the seller.

I can’t send photos but my law tag is just paper/sticker that is attached by a plastic stringy thing that comes with tags when you buy a shirt. The tag that says must be removed by the customer is ripped off and also reattach by those plastic things.

It means it's used or refurbished and the company removed the tag.

Why dont they just sew it into the side of the mattress, as a label, that is part of the actual fabric of the mattress...instead of a free-hanging "tag" that can be so easily modified (im anti "big gov") ..but i LOVE stuff like this...and i know the history of mattresses (back in the day folks literally just stuffed them with....whatever!) so they finally had to make a federal law (good!) ...thoughts?

If mattresses are returneto local store for comfort adjustment wherin layers are either subtracted or added & said store sews mattresses & labels, how do you know they aren't substituting used layers or even complete comfort labels since they have ability to just sew in new label?

The answer is that you don't know. If a dishonest manufacturer sews on a new label and doesn't indicate that post consumer materials are being used, they are violating federal law.

Hi im from canada and I bought a mattress at sleep country I have a suspicion that the mattress that they gave me is not brand new. I will attach photos of my mattress law tag.

My tag is covered up with a yellow tag underneath but all it’s saying is that it’s not fire proof. However the “new” tag over it says it was manufactured the day I was in the store. How is this possible?

Because it has a yellow tag sewn in with the white tag, it means that it is remanufactured. Mattresses are normally built to order. Your mattress was probably made and delivered to the store the day before you bought it.

I bought a mattress two weeks ago. There is a body divot in one side. One side is broken down like a used mattress is, the other side is firm. There is a 1 1/2 inch disparity in the sides. The company was giving me a hard time until I sent them pictures showing the disparity using a measuring tape. Here's my concern--I am pretty sure this was a returned mattress duirng their 120 day comfort guarantee. The law tag has the letetr G written on it in purple. Just wondering if this indicates anything to you? They want me to come and pick out a new mattress. If this mattress was returned on their 120 day guarantee, that means a similar mattress will likely break down like this one did within that time frame. I paid 2800 with the mattress and the adjustable frame. I just want to cancel the purchase and get my money back. Do I have any recourse?

I would make sure to check the law tag for the date of the build. The letter G could be a warranty code. Many manufacturers use letter designations for the different warranties they offer.
