I rang on the back 6 when they were at Newton Hall in 1989 - I remember them being almost unringable at the time.

My grandfather was one of the 2 with jeff wells who augmented these bells. I watched as it developed and saw them being lifted up into the chamber. He name is mick young

Bells 1, 2 and 4 are hung above the 3, 5 and 6 - I believe there are plans to try to improve the acoustics

wow they sound lovely in my area north devon there is a church called Fremington the bells they been changed as well but only the 3rd and 4th were cast 2013 because the very very old 3rd and 4th were cracked they were cast c1430+ and c1400+ so they had to be on display as in they were going to be put on for sale but no one didn't wanted them so the tower captain wanted to hang them dead back in the bell chamber there a lovely little 6 but back then they won't and they were rehung 2002 and tuned and then the 3rd and 4th cracked so fremington needed 2 new bells they raised £25,000

By modern standards they're rubbish, but actually for a little village church the work perfectly fine - a decision was made not to retune my bells when they were taken down in 2010, as even if the would probably tune quite well, their sound suited their tower without being retuned. These I think sound a lot like Kirdford, another place near me.

I think I've said before but things like this really make me happy - to see a forgotten unringable ring of bells turned around to make a nice little six (especially since Wiltshire probably wins for total amount of Unringable rings aha). Well done to all involved and wonderful sound by the way ☺️

I used to chime the bells at St. Mary, Harrogate on occasions, nice 8 played by a wooden keyboard, large central tower - wondered what would happen to the bells when the church closed down many years ago. I had hoped that the complete 8 would have been installed together.

Interested in the decision to have mostly lighter rings of bells out of the UK. Noticed there are quite a few like these abroad, such as the light 6 at Kilifi.
