    So sorry to hear about your loss. Sure it's a lot of money, but the fact that people are dishonest and we have to be so aware and keep upto date on all of the scams that are out there. I recently got scammed too. It hasn't cost me any money as of yet, I think they were fishing for my info., but now I'm afraid they're going to sell it on the dark web or something and I might end up with problems in the future. God bless.

    That was an awesome hiking. I did part of same trail last fall (late October and early November) in reverse direction. Started from Rosendale to Ellenville in 3 sections, and I totally agree with you, the best section is between Minnewaska and Sam's Point. I also missed the cave near Rainbow falls, and crossed the stream that feeds Verkeerderkill Falls after dark. The scenery on top of the ridge is just pure breathtaking!

    👍👍👍 .. nice 😊. I love my Esbit Stoves. I have two, the first being my original military issue from 1968 during my Military National Service. Fuels .. Liquid Alcohol or Alcohol-based Gel. I keep a pack of the Esbit Tablets stored inside the stove for 'just in case'. Burners .. mainly re-purposed Aluminium 200ml Energy Drink Cans or similar. Metal 'Bottle Tops' work well .. Whiskey is good .. don't waste anything 😏 (when a lower heat output is required). I fill the Burners with Glass / Ceramic Wool or Carbon Cloth to mitigate burning fuel spillage in the event of an inadvertent knock over. How much? I've learned how many 'squirts' of the fuel bottle is required for whatever. Rather less than more .. I have no problem with refilling (after making sure that the flame is out with the ever-present wet cotton face cloth). I'm a 'Boomer' (YOB 1950) so such (now perceived) obstacles 😱 are for me, no fuss. Wind Screens .. repurposed Aluminium Baking Trays, Soft Drink Cans and such. Just last night, home alone and babysitting the Pooch, I rustled up, on my 3rd floor flat balcony, some Spaghetti from the night before with a freshly cooked Onion, Garlic, Tomato Paste and Pesto Sauce on my Esbit Stove, using Alcohol Gel Fuel, in a Rectangular Aluminium Military Mess Tin .. delicious 😋. A good share .. thanks. Take care ..

    Great to see you on Channel again! Hey, after I watched your video I got a suggested video of a very similar stove from a "bloke" in the UK that pretty much is saying the solid fuel is NOW BANNED in the UK! It would be nice to know what precipitated that and hope that doesn't happen in the US. Yeah!! See you in Camp Stoves Anonymous!! LOL!! Jeff

  • @chrisvardy2956
    @chrisvardy295614 күн бұрын

    I'm in the UK. It's not banned per se. You now need a special licence to sell, buy, and possess it as there is a fear (paranoia) that in large quantities, hexy. (and other substances) can be used by extremists. These substances are classed as explosive pre-cursors and you need an EPP licence. www.gov.uk/government/publications/licensing-for-home-users-of-explosives-precursors/licensing-for-home-users-of-poisons-and-explosive-precursors

  • @MikeycatOutdoors

    I don't remember if Simon or Paul Messner talked about it. I heard the reason they banned the old style fuel tabs was the chemical could be used as a precursor for making explosives. It seems like a far fetched overreach though.

    From my experience goretex is just a membrane that gives additional property to layer beneath. If the whole product rely only on goretex it’s maybe like for a light drizzle or a running shoe and running thru some puddles . I have modern military boots that are made for army which are like 200€ and those are the real stuff , we talking mud , tongue Sewed basically to the top , fully tested boots with pressure chambers and then added gore tex on top of it. But since goretex is included , there’s almost zero breathing of your foot , as it’s not possible to have both gore tex and breathing shoe . So for the real deal I would suggest real deal modern army boots either hi or mid which are like the most versatile all year boot you can buy . As for the winter boot I personally bought UGG butte and I can’t believe how much I like them , it’s just really simple boot , old school leather and wool and the way how they feel on your feet is almost walking in the slippers . Not for huge water crossing , but as far as snow and rain all day I’ve tested them myself in a -22c and heavy wool socks and I got by for hours ( but my face did not 😃 ) so I would buy those . I’ve used to have some Nike shoes before and while they kept warm , but they slipped on ice or snow like crazy . These UGG got vibram sole , which even in some ice and tile floor hold it’s own , 100% recommend those . Like I’ve said it’s far from these boots , but it’s like insane wool slippers, no problems with sweat and membrane , leather does all the work , so even when it’s post winter , but rainy and everything I’m taking them just for how slipper like they are and I’m confident that I will be warm , got traction , comfort and dry. So if I can take one shoes only and get out of my house not knowing where and what’s gonna happen I’ll take my modern combat shoes and zombies can chase me , and if it’s casual winter colder walking back and forth with smile , I’ll take UGGs

    I might be drunk, but GoreTex isn't supposed to be submerged for a long period of time. Does it work in rain? Duh. Does it work when crossing a river or stream? Duh. Does it work in puddles of water? Duh. Does it work well for swimming in terms of waterproof? Uh, no. It doesn't work that way. I'm drunk as a skunk right now. My big cock is on the table. I love my roosters. Waterproof is a stretch. Same goes for bulletproof vests. They're not bulletproof. Rifles cut through them like a hit knife through butter or like my little cock through the chicken coop. I'm drunk, man. Fuck. Oh. Ohhhhhhh. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
