Yosemite Backpacking // Chilualna Falls // Wawona
Three days, two nights starting from Wawona and heading up Chilualna Falls and then attempting to make it up to Buena Vista Lake and Buena Vista Peak. Super high water levels and flow rate due to snow melt after a record snowfall year!

Thank you for posting this video! We’re heading out there July 9.
Later on in the season, towards the end of the summer, when the water flow has slowed to a trickle, the area above the upper falls 52:20 has a series of epic potholes that have some of the most wonderful swimming and cliff diving opportunities in the park.

Indeed, it was!
wow, excellent video
Thanks for this. Logistics is the main thing that holds me back from getting out that way. Or just in general for trips out of my comfort zone. Compared to you, it's only a drive for me so I have less of an excuse haha. I'm still limited to overnights with the time I have, but I gotta find a way out to the Sierras instead of sticking to the coastal ranges. Going to save this for potential trips.

I’ll probably do a video talking through the planning process I went through for this one.
Thanks for this video!!! I had a hard day at work and when I got home I thought to myself, "Man I could use a Spiguyver hiking video." Well what do ya know....there was an hour-long one! Sweet!!! 😀

I’ve had my share of bad days and know how something like this can provide that boost you need. I’m honored that my video was able to do that for you! Glad you had this one there for you!
Great video. What a beautiful area. When things don't go as planned on a trip I see it as an opportunity for another adventure!

Thanks, it was a great trip. Wish I had more time, but it was awesome I was able to fit this in during a business trip!
Those meals take longer to rehydrate at higher altitude
We are doing this with two teens this weekend! Wish us luck! haha We have done this trail many times as a day hike up to that first big summit (lower falls, I think??) Anyhoo, wondering how far you went until you reached that deeper snow pack?? We were hoping to get to Chil Lake...but seems like still too much snow....thought I would get your thoughts since you JUST got off the mountain! THANKS!

@bridgetrudolpg1808 how was your trip? Trail conditions? We’re heading out July 9.
Nice Job Mark, I will be out there the end of July, Hoping to get to higher elevation, but with all the snow pack the trail might be hard to find or get too. Thanks for the update and tips on how to read the weather and navigate over snow.

Awesome, what are your plans?
Thanks Mark for posting this. What dates were you backpacking? I have permits for mid-July and trying to see what the conditions are like….

This was this weekend. So I got off the trail yesterday, June 11.
Hi when you found the sign because of the snow if you would have dug down at it you would have found the second sign on the same pole giving you a cross trail location of where you at all of the posted signs always show at least two or three different directions just a little bit of information for next time. One other thing please find someone to go out with because in this high snow high water the danger is extreme the look on your face when you said you cross the snow bridge in California on line you could easily find a hiker please be safe. I hear ya! Thanks for the concern and I'll certainly try to do that next time!
How are you liking the bridge hammock you are using and how does it compare to the others?

I'll probably be putting together a pretty in depth video on it in a month or so. But so far it's got some advantages and some disadvantages, it's always a give and take!

Looking forward to that video Mark. This hammock looks more narrow at the head end than either the Ridgerunner or the Banyan, and yet you seem to have a preference for it, even with a bad shoulder. I’m just curious. I don’t have a stake in the matter. I actually prefer my gathered-end hammock over my RR any time.
What’s the brand sweatshirt you’re wearing?
